I love the way this one random encounter has set Pam's high school life on a whole different path, both because it's sweet and also because this idea of making one connection that sort of spirals out feels very true. It sounds like she had a very nice 1994. I also really enjoy that you had this be a life-changing encounter for the more socially adept Jim, too.
"And no, she totally did not have a crush on him. Shut up." Lol. Oh, Pam.

Making the song a runner is a nice touch. It's now led to two milestone moments in their relationship... perhaps a third and fourth are coming? :) The bickering over the dancing was fun, and a cute nod to canon, too, and the inside jokes they've built up are sweet.

I love the subtle changes from last year in the countdown. Showing their slow progression towards something more.

P.S. Another quick beta note: "Should be at his birthday party, at hers,"

I don't think this chapter was sadder than the last one to be honest. They're still teenagers and are trying to figure our their feelings for each other. They've clearly built up a solid relationship and that's lovely to see. A bit of fear on both of their parts in that they don't want to ruin anything.

All that being said, they're both adorable with each other. Matching clothes, Pam's choker (now there's a blast from the past), Jim's dorky dancing, Pam's swaying. All really cute.
