I'm loving this story, and I also LOVE THIS SONG! This is the first song I knew in all the chapters so far.
Sam Phillips is one of my favorites.

Author's Response: Thank you....Even if Gilmore Girls and I have broken up, I will always have love in my heart because it introduced me to Sam Phillips.  So Good.

Poor Karen. She must be so confused with the mixed messages that Jim sends.  "He knows he’s confusing her. He’s confusing himself."

Author's Response: Thank you....I started feeling just so bad for Karen after I started writing these.  Poor thing.  She should go back to Connecticut and feel better.

"But he doesn’t have time, he can’t think about that now - he has to get home, get ready for his date with Karen. He’s cooking her dinner tonight, and he knows what she is expecting."  This line made my heart hurt.

Author's Response: Thank you...sorry I made your heart hurt!

"She doesn’t want to get too hopeful, read too much into things, searching for reasons and motivations that aren’t there" - poor, poor Pam.

Author's Response: Pam makes me feel so angsty and sad for her....

This is such a perfect take on what Jim was no doubt feeling after the conversation in the PLoD that night. So heartbreaking.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you!

The song quote at the beginning of this chapter was so perfect for what happened  And this line was so telling - "He’s been there five seconds, and he’s already broken all of his rules."

Author's Response: Thank you!  You know that Jim laid down ground rules for himself before he went back. ;)

Oh, WOW.
This is such a wonderful set of drabbles. And the sound track is just awesome.
I love that Toby and Pam are getting to be friends, real friends, and that both Jim and Pam are admitting that "just friends" is something that they never were.
I think you've presented the interludes in a wonderful way without making it too A/U. I can't wait for the next part.
Thanks.
cheers.

Author's Response: Thank you!  The soundtrack is infinitely helpful in its inspiration.

oh, thank GOD it's already written. stare all you like, take your time. it's ridiculous, how much i love this. seriously. ridiculous. it's like crack. i started out just reading for fun, but it escalated into this NEED so quickly. i think i may actually go into withdrawals until i get the next bits. (no pressure, though. it's only an aching hunger, after all. lol.) I LOVE THIS! okay, i'll stop there, before i get *really* creepy. :0)

Author's Response: Wow, thank you.  It gives me enormous warm fuzzies to know that someone NEEDS to read something I wrote.  And don't worry, I am determined to finish this thing in the next couple weeks.  Maybe sooner.  Who knows?

Started reading these, thinking I'd just read a few...and wound up reading them all. Like peanuts, couldn't stop. So sad and true and focused and evocative and...can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Thank you!  Good to know I can write addictive little fic peanuts. ;)

Oh, Bennie...these just break my heart more and more.  They're just so beautiful and honest and raw.  I'm so glad you're keeping with them because I absolutely love reading them!  I like that you include Toby.  He makes me sad in the most wonderful way.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  And I have the hugest crush on sad little Toby, so I had to include him. :)

Oh Jim!  This whole series of drabbles is really killing me, and I mean that in a good way.  Angsty Christmas!

Author's Response: Thank you, MA!  I wouldn't want to kill anyone in a bad way.  :)

I WILL MAIM YOU IF YOU DON'T POST IT SOON. Honestly, girl, where did you find such sicked talent? Because you evoke so much with so few words and I don't get it! You're so good.

I love how you've worked your story into their story, making everything fit and the puzzle pieces snap together nicely. I love Toby being friends with Pam and relizing right out that she is her biggest enemy, and how hurt he gets when Karen registers. I love your Pam, how she is so dreadfully hopeful and painfully sad all at the same time, and I love how you have her forging her own way, no matter Jim. And your Jim! I want to snuggle him. Your Karen even makes me feel warm feelings, which is bad, you know - you're not supposed to get attached to characters that are LEAVING.

Wonderful, amazing, stupendous - if you haven't already caught on. :D

Author's Response: Oh, fwf, how do I love thee, let me count the ways...(and the only reason that you feel for Karen is because you do know that she is leaving.  Right?  LEAVING.)

Yay -- cannot wait for more.  And please don't let Jim have sex with Karen!!!  NOOOOOO!

ooh -- that is an interesting take -- that going to Benihana is an escape from dealing with Pam & Karen -- loving this series, BTW

OH, I have so much love for your series of drabbles. So much hurt and confusion packed into such tiny little packages--they're effective and real and wonderful.

I love the way you're writing everyone. Feels like you're really hitting the nail on the head for where they are and what they're feeling right now. Jim and Karen are just breaking my heart (In a good way though!).

Author's Response: Thank you!  I'm so glad that people still like these...It's been forever since I updated.  Thank you for reading!

Author's Response: Thank you!  And, actually, your comment helped light the fire under me so I would post part of the next installment that I've had written for awhile.  I hope you like it. :)

Ah, you had me fooled.  I thought Pam and Jim might get to spend Thanksgiving together.  But I really enjoy how you are slowly moving things alon, and must say I really enjoy Jim/Michael and Pam/Toby hanging out.  Lovely story, and can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: Trust me, Morning Angel, the thought did cross my mind, but apparently I feel like moving at a glacial pace; something I have in common with Greg Daniels.  :)  Thank you for the review, and hopefully I'll have more written soon...

I like Toby telling Pam "it's never too late" as compared to Michael telling Jim to "never, ever give up" on the Booze Cruise. Perhaps they have more in common than Michael would like to admit? Nice installment!

Author's Response: Thank you!  Yeah, especially after The Convict, I hold the belief that if Michael gave it a chance, Toby could be a friend.  An actual friend.

I love your Toby/Pam friendship so much. I was one of those (bizarre?) people who secretly liked the hint of Toby/Pam relationship but reading these I find your portrayal of their friendship so honest and realistic. I love at one point when you mention that through her friendship with Toby, Pam's realizes how she was never really "friends" with Jim. For Toby, without his daughter as a constant presence in his life I think he needs someone to take care of, to fill that void. Pam needs someone to help her navigate while she feels a little lost. So well portrayed. I'm totally hooked on these!

Author's Response:

You are not alone, I actually began this as a drabble wherein Pam and Toby end up together, because I was intrigued by the hint of it we got on the show.  It wasn't until I started thinking about it that I realized what good friends they could be.  He is the perfect person to help her now, and she needs someone who has a bit of a protective vibe towards her to reassure her.  Anyway, thank you so much for the review, I love it when people leave their in-depth thoughts about the story, so I know I'm not going completely OOC.  :)

Wow.  I could honestly go on reading this forever.  It's so beautiful and emotional yet so subtle.  Please keep going, I'm definitely hooked!

Author's Response: Thank you!  And I will keep going, depending on how the Christmas episode goes...but as of now, I'm planning on 100 sections total.

Oh, you're breaking my heart! Those last few glimpses of Pam are utterly fantastic; hopeful and hopeless, all at the same time. I love how Pam is finding refuge in Toby and how he knows and he is just there for and it's brilliant and beautiful.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you!  Pam just needs someone right now, someone to help her move forward and sort out her emotions and just....goodness, I get way too invested in all of this.  I'll just say thank you for the review again, so I don't spiral into a treatise on Pam.  :)

These little moments are addictive! I like the way you're jumping from character to character to build one narrative. And Jim's current determination to 'get past' his feelings for Pam and her sense of loss and yearning really comes through. Loving Toby too. Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  I'm always worried that since they're all drabble-y, not enough of the story comes across.  I'm glad that it's working. :)
