As Michael took his seat behind his desk, Pam slowly closed the door and moved towards the empty chair next to Jim. Jan sat to Jim and Pam’s left in the row of chairs alongside the window facing the front doors. She hesitantly took out a small notebook and pen then looked from Michael to Jim and Pam, who’s shoulders scraped against each other. She took in the couple, Jim in his light blue shit with tie; Pam in a tan blouse with her hair in curls draped around her shoulders. She couldn’t help but notice the two of them stealing glances at each other, worry in their eyes. She caught their fingers slightly brushing in between their hips and she smiled at the sight.

That’s nice, she thought.

She turned to Michael, as if expecting to see something to give her promise. She had to turn away quickly as she threw up a little in her mouth at the sight of him trying to pick a piece of food from the back of his mouth with his hand. His head was turned at an angle and his shoulders were tense. When she looked back she sighed, and began.

"So, I figure it’s obvious why we’re here right now." She looked to Jim. "How are you feeling Jim?"

He tried to smile but winced a little at the pain. "Well, I’m not gonna lie; I’ve been better." He turned to Pam and saw the guilt in her eyes. He took hold of her hand and softly squeezed it. "But I think things are going to be just fine."

"Well, I’m glad." She smiled at Pam. "And you, how are you holding up?"

Pam blushed a little as Jim’s hand grazed her hip. "I’m just fine, now. For awhile there, I wasn’t sure. I mean, Jim didn’t show up for a week, so I feared the worst. But I’m fine now."

"Good. That’s good to hear." Jan turned to Michael. His hand was out of his mouth now but his cheek kept moving and she could tell he was fidgeting under his mouth. "Michael has been explaining what happened when Mr. Anderson-"

"Mister Anderson." Michael drew out the mister. He chuckled and looked at Jim. "Haha, you know, the Matrix!"

"Michael!" Jan snapped.

"Sorry." He lowered his head a bit.

"Ah, where was I, oh, yes." She crossed her legs and shifted her weight towards Jim and Pam. "Michael told me about how you were engaged to Mr. Ander-" She looked at Michael quickly. "Roy. Um, I know you broke off the wedding a few weeks before it was scheduled. I also know, from personal observations," She looked at their hands, "That you two are good friends. Jim, Michael has told me that you had feelings for Pam and that you transferred because you told her, and she rejected you." She looked back to their faces and smiled. "Somehow I get the feeling that this whole thing has to do with this little relationship of yours." They blushed as she chuckled. "So, since I am responsible for explaining this mess to corporate, I need you two to be honest with me. I need to know why Roy did what he did." She paused. "And I need to know what your relationship is. Jim, I know Karen is your girlfriend, but something tells me there is more to this. So, if you don’t mind, I’d like to know what is going on." She took a deep breath and smiled.

"Honey," Michael raised his hand and smiled at Jan. "As Jim’s best friend, I think I can tell you what is going on."

"Michael, you already told me what you know. Now they’re going to fill me in on everything I don’t know." She closed her eyes and sighed. "And, no "honey" at work, okay?"

He looked shocked.

"Surely you can’t be serious?"

"I am." She paused and stared at him. "And don’t call me Shirley." Her eyes opened wide and she shook her head in anger at herself. Jim and Pam tried not to laugh. Michael’s mouth opened in shock. He smiled slowly.

"I love you Leslie Nielson."

Karen sat at her desk, unable to concentrate on her work. Her body was half turned to Michael’s office as she tried not to stare at the shut blinds. Phyllis noticed her nervousness and couldn’t help but feel a bit of the same.

"Don’t worry, honey." She smiled as Karen turned towards her. "Jim’s a good guy. I don’t think it’ll be too hard for you."

Karen looked shocked.

"What do you mean?"

"Well," She shifted uncomfortably. "I mean, Jim and Pam, they’re special. They have a bond. And I know they’ve been through a lot, this whole thing included, but there are just some bonds that you can not break." She looked at Karen sadly. "No matter how hard you try."

"Oh." Was all she could muster.

"I’m sorry Karen. I know Jim likes you, but, well, unless you feel a bond like they have, I guess it’s hard to understand. Just, whatever happens, try not to be too mad at Jim. He is a really good guy."

She smiled at the thought of Jim dancing with her at her wedding. He had told her how happy he was for her and Bob and she had told him how one day, it’d be his wedding, with that special someone by his side. He told her he had pretty much given up on that person, but she had told him it was never too late. He had thanked her and hugged her, saying Vance Refrigeration better watch out because he was about to steal the bride.

Karen could only shake her head in defeat.

"I know." She turned back to her desk. "I always knew."

Dwight sat at his desk with his phone to his ear. He was staring at his computer with a sly grin. Angela’s phone began to ring. She picked it up and answered with annoyance.

"Angela Martin."

"Vestufal imalfadi." She turned to Dwight and cocked her eyebrows. He continued.

"Imori agatodi." Her frown slowly disappeared and she smiled shyly at him before hanging up the phone and turning back to her computer. Dwight leaned back in his chair and casually threw his tie behind his back, tongue sticking out in victory. He looked at the camera and nodded his head.

"Yes, I taught muffins some elvish. It was on a Saturday. We had come in for our overtime early so we finished with an hour to spare. I looked into her eyes and said the words that went unspoken between Frodo and Sam, albeit words between friends." He looked almost mortified for a second. "I don’t think hobbits have homosexual impulses."

"Vestufal imalfadi? I’m sorry. Imori agatodi? I love you." Creed leaned towards the camera looking puzzled. "What are you trying to say here, man?

"So let’s get started. I know this might be hard to talk about but I think it’ll be good for both of you. Besides, it’ll be my ass if corporate doesn’t get the whole story, so fess up." Jan tried to smile but her joke was more awkward than anything.

Jim looked at Pam who caught his eyes but quickly looked away. He frowned a bit but had to admit her shyness was quite cute. He looked at Jan.

"I’ll explain what happened."

Pam quickly looked up to him and grabbed his hand tightly. She felt a shiver down her spine.

"No Jim."

He looked at her puzzled. "Why not?"

She closed her eyes and sighed. "It’s my turn to talk. My time to take a chance."

She turned to Jan and began.
