Although this story has nothing to do with 'Boys and Girls,' it was inspired by the end of that episode, when Jim and Pam are back at their desks after their argument about Pam's 'choices.' She answers the phone and he looks over at her, with an expression that is achingly wistful, understanding, sad, hopeful, loving, resigned, tender, adoring and doomed....all at once. There's something about the way he looked at that moment that got me thinking...and this is what came out.

Takes place pre-Casino Night, but no specific time besides that.
