Author's Chapter Notes:
Okay, so I wrote this poem several months ago, sometime right before I wrote They Cry So the Stars Look Brighter. It was what inspired me to write the story in the first place, so it means a lot to me (check it out, here: http://mtt.just-once.net/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=3754).

It also reminds me of Pam. I can picture her, on her front porch or deck or somewhere outside at her apartment, sometime during Season 2 when she is realizing how she feels about Jim and silent pressures from Roy. Hopefully you can see it, too!
I cry so the stars look brighter
My bashful smile under miles of lighter
Rooftop dreams under dangling tears
I stare at the moon’s reflection with no fear
These wasted years of my helpless doubts
Make peering through his shadows fully devout
There’s nothing but hope in these darks nights
I close my eyes to see blacks, blues, and whites
Consolidation of the moon coming close
Leaves brushes of the shoulder hurting the most
My hands drop twenty but my heart stays alive
I look, look, look wanting only to survive
Suddenly a star tumbles from a drowsy cloud
I wish I could catch it if I was allowed
But I’ve been too sweet and I’ve been too sure
So the star breaks fall and leaves me needing more
Times are forgetful like this falling tear
The crash of the sky to my eyes is oh so sheer
I fill with delight then tip from his words
Pouring over all that is broken into thirds
I cry so the stars look brighter
He tells me I’m broken but I know I’m a fighter
The battle of the moon against the harsh sky
Causes rings in my ears and screams that defy
The only reason left of me escapes through hushed cries
Wonders of who and what push me to this demise
Oh what more can this hour of shadows bring
I’ve already seen the flouting of many things
The view of the lonely is always mine
Unless you see with teary eyes and use hands that are blind
The crickets chirp against sweet melodies of wind
Reminding the world of how we have sinned
A star flickers a golden hue
Dancing then flushed by a sudden unaltered cue
Blinking doesn’t always clear the view
But who am I to tell you what’s what and who’s who
The moon will always be there to gaze upon when lost
And the stars will always shine when paths have been crossed
This rooftop dream leads me to carry my memories lighter
But I still cry so the stars look brighter
Chapter End Notes:
Maybe more poetry?
