I've been writing fanfic for about four and a half years, and in this fandom for about three. Usually I ship Jim/Pam, Dwight/Angela, Kelly/Andy, Pam/Karen, though occasionally Ryan/Karen and anything femslash. My pen name on LiveJournal and fanfiction.net is the same as it is here, for clarity's sake.

Author's Response: oh man, thanks bebitched! i think there's so much under the surface that we didn't see. there were a few facial expressions here and there, but pam spent most of the day (well i guess two days) doing talking heads and performing for the camera. the interior was really mysterious to me... thank you for the feedback!

Oh my. How do you do that? Manage to convey both sadness and hope all in one paragraph. All the details are dead on: Pam finding a friendship plus flirting with a guy at school, picking a fight with Jim over Karen (When Pam realizes Karen has been ogling her bare left hand, she shivers like the ghosts of years past. *dies*) and that final scene, where Pam just goes "fuck it, I'm tired of waiting for other people to make me happy" and proposes to him. Just... love this so much. Probably THE best post-finale fics I've read thus far.

bebitched, i love that you got it! bebitched ftw! as long as you're spotting details, i made multiple references to pam's hands (in a nod to the lack of ring) and i made sure pam was super focused on her work (ex. local ad). wow i feel like lostpedia now or something.

These two have such an odd relationship, and I think you did a beautiful job of illustrating that here. I especially loved the mirror between both Jim's situation (I'd never actually thought of the Booze Cruise and the parallel to last episode) and the intersection of their characters in the stairwell scene in Money. Kudos!
LOL! Snarky!Pam makes me smile. You know, the lack of Jim makes be wonder if a floppy-haired prince might be making his way out of a sewer sometime soon... I can't wait for more to find out!

Author's Response: oh, that's so sweet! some parts of writing this fic were like pulling teeth - but not the dialogue, that flowed well. i love jim grading sex too - although to be honest, i'm not sure if they're kidding or serious, i hadn't fully decided. if they are kidding, think of it as that scene from "dunder mifflin infinity" when jim goes to pam's desk and asks if the romance is dead. fun!
I really love this. Kelly and Karen is the undiscovered potential of S3 and you played that out brilliantly here. Great job!

I especially liked this line: A year ago, when he’d just started at Stamford, his dreams were haunted by terrible things, flocks of light blue-purple butterflies and doves, the beating of their wings sounding an awful lot like I can’t.
