Okay, this is post Stamford (sort of) and is a little AU, given that we now know Jim and Pam have talked a little.  It's a bit angsty, but I swear, I was absolutely seized by the urge to write this!  It's based a little on some of the comments I read on Live Journal yesterday re: Jim as "a man with needs."  Heh. That makes this sound as if it's going to be a pile of smut, and it's not.  It'll just be a slightly different Jim - totally drunk!Jim. 

Jonathan makes an appearance as well. 

And for those of you who are concerned - remember, my fics always end with a happy Jim/Pam.  :o)  This one probably won't be as long as the others have been; I'm thinking it'll maybe be a two-parter.

Ohhhhhh! Fantastic story! I never get enough of your work, Your writing is causing me to procrastinate on all the grading I should be doing, but I love it! You need to just lock yourself in a room and write Jam stories for all us junkies. Thank you, thank you!

Ha! Well if it's any consolation, my writing causes ME to procrastinate on all the grading I myself should be doing!  (Seriously -- dear god.)  And believe me, if I could lock myself in a room and just write all day long, I would be a happy, happy woman.  :o)

So glad you enjoyed this one!  A lot of my older stuff makes me cringe (and I mean seriously cringe), but I had a lot of fun writing this one.  (The idea of a silly, flirty, drunken Jim was just too cute not to explore....)

Thank you, THANK YOU! I've been browsing through a number of 'First Date' fics in the last week, and while some made me smile, and some made me hot, :) none totally grabbed me and made me think, 'yeah this HAS to be how it went. You've got everything so pitchperfect -- their banter, their loveable dorkiness, their shyness and wonder at being together, their steamy moments yet their decision to wait...it all rings so true to Jim and Pam. And I love how you took the time with the story, and let them say everything they needed to say to each other. So. Frigging, Perfect!

 The show will probably never show us what happened between The Job and the adorable 'we're in love' glow of Run Run, But I'm okay with that now. Because your story so perfectly filled in that gap for me. Thank you again!!  You're a fantastic writer!!!

Okay, well you're MY hero for your lovely comments!  :o) Seriously -- you made my night.  This is my first foray into fanfic (writing about TO, not this story), and I actually began writing just because I was fascinated by the characters and all that's left unsaid -- but I had no intention of anyone ever seeing a word of what I'd written.  Needless to say, to be able to post it and get feedback is just the most amazing thing.  I've said it so many times, but it bears repeating: I write because I really love it (seriously, I'm sadly excited at the prospect of spending a Saturday night writing), and to have someone say that what I've written makes him/her happy is just the best.  Really.  :o)

So thank YOU -- and yes, I'll keep it up!  (The husband is leaving for a business trip tomorrow, so I'll spend the next three days writing and posting.)  :o)

Summary: There were two alternate endings filmed for The Job, and I remember reading GD mentioning what the alternate ending was somewhere. So, this is my take on it. Also, it's sort of a look into what Pam was thinking throughout that day when she didn't think Jim was going to come back.
