Oh my godddd this is so captivating! I love it. You write Jim’s protectiveness so well and I love how well you capture the struggle of Pam wanting him near her but knowing he has to do what he has to do. What I love about this story is that it seems like a true survival story, where bad things happen and things are pretty black and white when it comes to protecting and providing for those you love. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I've always felt Jim was like this but held it back so I wanted to explore it more when he didn't have to. Thanks for reading!

This made my heart rate go crazy! Such tension and you wrote it so well! I’m definitely still interested in this story. You have a believable bad guy and have put them all in this situation in a way that stays true to the characters they are while exploring some depth that we ofc don’t see in the show. Keep writing, please! I love it!

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I'm thrilled to hear it is being enjoyed.

Just got all caught up and wow, those last two chapters! I think Toby’s arc is really great storytelling. As we’ve seen in the current pandemic, some people are incredibly selfish and self serving even when we think we know them, even when we all should be banding together. This is such a rich and full world that they’re in and I appreciate that you don’t keep them from danger. I mean, I might hate you if something truly happens to either of them! I thoroughly enjoy this story so much and look forward to reading more!

Author's Response: Thank you so much BT! It is really interesting to see how people react differently in times of crisis. Of course Toby has reached a new level of desperation at this point. Thank you for taking the time to get caught up and comment!

I love the way you build the suspense in this story! You do a great job of having the payoff come and then raising the stakes again. And you write villains really well in Mac and Toby, but in ways that are believable and real. I love this and can’t wait to see what happens!

Author's Response: Thank you so much BT! I hope the build up pays off in the end. Thanks for commenting!

Ugh this was all so tense and heartbreaking and beautifully written! I kind of want to save up all the other chapters so I can binge read and get all the twists and turns and revelations in one go. Again, Mac is so well written! Not your usual bad guy because you needs a bad guy, but a fleshed out villain who actually has some twisted sense of why the way he’s behaving is justified. Ugh, again. So good!

Author's Response:

Thank you BT, so much! I'm kind of with you on reading something in one big take as opposed to little bits at a time. What I can promise you is that, it is all about 80% finished since I don't write linear fashion. I wrote the last couple of chapters first and jump around even though it's laid out in my mind. Hopefully, that means you won't have to wait too long. ;)

Thanks for your review!

This was such a lovely chapter. Even though they’re in After and things are obviously less than ideal, it felt so lovely and normal and sweet and a great representation of how important it is to have people around you that you love. And Jim and Mike’s confrontation was excellently written. I have no trouble believing that Jim would absolutely do anything to protect his family and that’s his driving motivation. Great chapter, as always!

Author's Response: Thank you so much BT for your review, as always!

This chapter was beautiful all over, but this line stood out to me. “ The frailty and ugliness of humanity on full display, retching among the ruins and emptiness of the planet.” So good! You turn phrases so beautifully. And I really loved seeing a bit of Brian’s world! Great job as always!

Author's Response: Thank you BT, as always! Your reviews mean so much. <3

I don’t even know where to begin with this, my god. It’s been building (and its still building) and this was so chapter and the previous one are so suspenseful and tense in the best ways. And then their reactions after the fact and the way you wrote Jim not hiding his emotions and Pam’s quick thinking and strength and just all of it, oh my god. Oh my god. So so so good. More than good, amazing, wonderful, incredible, every positive adjective in the world.

Author's Response: BT, I just love your reviews so much. I know I say that just about every time but it's the truth. <3

Oh, my god. This ending. I gasped aloud and have real tears in my eyes. It was the perfect button to a perfect story. I don’t know if I will ever have the words to describe how I feel at the end of this, the culmination of your work and your genius and all the ways that it made me feel. It’s truly truly a masterpiece and I cannot believe that this is your first foray into writing. Never ever ever doubt yourself or your talent, you have it in spades and you ALWAYS have an audience, no matter the subject! Lady, thank you for sharing this with us. I am so grateful.

Author's Response: Thank you SO much, BT, truly. I don't think I could ask for much more, hearing your reaction. That is every author's dream, I think, to elicit that kind of response. Thank you for being such a wonderful reader and reviewer!

More Jim and Pam in a dark and deserted movie theatre, please!

But really I love how you’ve written the fact that it’s so easy for something to get out of hand when real feelings are involved, and how easy it is then for things to spill over and something huge to happen. It’s such a real thing and I have no problems picturing the two of them going through this! I’m looking forward to seeing how their new relationship is tested with the breakup and the dissolution of Pamdy amongst their coworkers.

Also, this line made me laugh out loud. So perfect! ““Man, that is so hot,” said Kevin from a table at the other end of the room.””

When Karen is involved there’s almost always some angst, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t love some good angst! I’m sure the new few days will be torture for Jim. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

Author's Response: Yep, Karen is a tough character. I mean, I liked her, just not for Jim. Angst is definitely ahead. Thanks for taking the time to review. Chaptter 4 is up now.

I'm so glad Andy is seeing the light and isn't wanting to go along with Karen's cruel "prank." I have always felt like he was a decent guy at heart, just kind of...misguided. A lot, lol. So I'm glad that he's getting some redemption! And I like that Pam was accepting of what Jim is going through and resolute in her feelings for him. I'm so glad you didn't do one of those "wait, I can explain!" moments. All in all, great job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Glad you liked where I went with this.

So glad Karen’s “prank” didn’t go further. It seems like she has something else up her sleeve, though. Good job, looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Hmmm...we certainly haven't seen the end of Karen, for sure. Thanks for reading. The conclusion is up now :)

Wow! I have to say the implication at the end there kind of shocked me. But I do love a twist! I liked seeing a bit of how Karen and Dan met, and you wrote the adult themed stuff really well. I also liked the little insight into Toby’s mind, poor guy! Overall well done!

Author's Response: Thank you! And the name of the fic was "Revenge." I took it a little darker, I suppose, which is actually unlike me. But hey, this could offer a sequel opportunity. Hmmm...

In reading this I am struck with just how much I have missed MTT and you guys, and how talented everyone is. In 733 words you have set up a story and established their frames of mind and I already can't wait to see where it goes. I know it will be wonderful. I am so looking forward to what comes next!

If I could leave a gif comment it’d be one of me bouncing around in anticipation for this story to continue! Also I like that Jim watched Legally Blonde and enjoyed it and had to eat some crow, even if only to himself.

Author's Response: Thank you! I like the movie, so of course I have to make Jim like it.

Sooo good. I love that Pam is keeping it all for Jim. You write their inner monologues and thought processes so well! I have no trouble believing that this is something both of them could have done (if only, can you imagine a whole season filmed in Australia?) and can’t wait to see when and how they come across each other. Wonderful job!

Author's Response: Thank you! I would have loved at least one episode in Australia--or even Canada-playing-Australia--but alas...

Aw! This chapter was cute and short but still had a lot as far as character development, especially for Jim. Pam’s next flight can’t land soon enough!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm afraid Pam's got some hours to go, but she will get there (I'm not going crazy AU by having her crash or anything, god forbid).

We’ve been blessed with two updates in one day! Again, adorable. I love Jim wandering around aimlessly and I loved the bit about looking over his metaphorical shoulder, that was a lovely little piece of writing!

Author's Response: From my perspective, I slept between those updates, but they weren't many hours apart I'll grant you. Jim might pick up some aim, soon--and then, hopefully, a Pam. Thanks for the review!

So proud of Pam! I love stories where we can see her transition into Fancy New Beesly. And i loved the line "he really needed to stop using the word 'engage.'" That's just such a perfect little way to kind of break your heart and I loved it. On to the next chapter, since you're spoiling me with two today!

Author's Response: Thank you! And you know, two updates was a result of having a chat. And you missed the chat. So if you were to say promise to make a chat, we might have another, and I might double update again.

I just love the way you put words together. That line at the end about convincing Jim to change his calendar is beautiful. As always, can't wait to read what happens next!

Author's Response: Thank you! I really appreciate hearing that.

Reviewer: BigTuna Signed
Date: March 22, 2020 Title: Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Lows

I love the exploration of Jim's guilt. I don't think we see that very often, and I think it's very much a thing he would have gone through. It's like you said-he does know Pam, he does know how hard change is for her, and what really were his expectations? I'm glad to see that addressed! I'm glad that they're having this time alone to figure things out, so to speak. And I'm proud of them both for actually trying, not just wallowing. I feel like Jim so often is written as sitting around getting blind drunk after the events of CN, and I just don't know how much I agree with that. I'm happy to see that he's just hanging around Sydney pounding Foster's, haha.

Anyway as always, great job! Can't wait for what's next!

Author's Response: Thank you! I think it's important that he goes through that, even if by S3 he's going to be an emotional basketcase, because while by S3 he knows she's broken up with Roy but not called him, here he's dealing with his own actions, not hers. Or not just hers. I agree that it's Roy, not Jim, who gets shitfaced after Pam's rejection, and that distinction is important.
