I just want to say that I love what you do with the card here, most of all because it manages to lie perfectly in the space where Pam would feel like she's taking a risk and expressing herself clearly and Jim would think of it as ambiguous and playing it safeish and that's a hard balance you struck perfectly.

I feel silly reviewing these old fics and suggesting they get picked up, but hey, sometimes it happens. This is a fun one, with I think a really good Jim, and I wish it had gone on longer.

Starting a reread of this and had to register how much I adore it. This is great, creative storytelling at its best.

But there was a nagging voice in the back of his head telling him it wasn't right to ask another woman out even on a friendly dinner when his ex-fiancée wasn't even completely moved out, telling him Pam was moving on and following her dreams and he might need to step back and let her do that."

One of the things I love about this fic (among many) is that you give Jim a much more reasonable reason for not calling Pam (at least immediately) than the show timeline gives Pam for not telling Jim.

Well this is weird and intentionally referential and dark, but I like it anyway. Thanks for this exploration of the psyche.

I love this as an approach to opening this story. It is entirely necessary and yet more of an opening coda than a real story element. Nice work.

All of this is well-done, but especially "All that old sick panic was right back in the pit of his stomach. He had kissed her and she didn’t want him and everybody knew it, and apparently nobody was ever going to let him forget it." Very apt.

I know this is finished, and it is lovely anyway as it is, but I'm always voracious for more of your work (even though you're the most prolific writer on the site) so I really selfishly wish it continued from here.

That said, I love the rapid back and forth of PoV, I appreciate both Jim and Pam's perspective and it's lovely.
