Author of the Month March 2020

I've been writing fanfiction for awhile now. Just recently discovered The Office and figured I'd try my hand at that as well.

At first I thought of having all my stories in the same universe, but then I had some AU ideas. So any stories that occur within a common universe will be in a given series.

Tons of fun with a good old drunk IM session. Loved the discussion when they got back online too. They get funny when they're drunk and that played out really well here. See you in 9 months Phil!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

Oh now you're taking me back to the good days of Facebook. Back when there was so much more of this kind of thing and so many less ads or clickbait. Jim's comment on her public wall raised a grin and an eyebrow. Then again this was right around when Cathy was hitting on him so maybe he's saying that to ensure everyone knows there was no way he'd be unfaithful.

Author's Response: I was thinking of having Pam and Cathy become Facebook friends, but I just didn't want her anywhere near the fic!!

Speaking from another writer who has put Morse Code into his story, I see you and I feel you. I imagine there was a lot of going back and forth between a diagram of the code and your writing document.

Lovely bit of banter. I also liked how you put in the mistakes. Show's that they're still learning and occasionally get things wrong. Delightfully realistic in that regard.

Author's Response:

Yes! It's very hard!! I checked it SO many times!

The mistakes were my favourite part, I have to say!

One can just feel the awkwardness between them here. Yes they're in relationships, but not with who they're in love with. S3 just always hits hard like that. Big difference between the two men here. Roy's idea is just a diner. Jim's a fancy dinner.

The last two lines though just tug at all the heartstrings.

Author's Response: Definitely a very hard time here. And yes those last two, but I had to put them in there!!

This feels like they're pranking each other a bit. Which really fits since they're finally together. Great fun with that perspective. They're back to being the fun loving couple they always are.

Also thanks for the bit of sports history.

Author's Response: Yeah I thought a nice little prank on their first Valentine's Day together would be kinda fun!

Creed as the DJ who goes off on tangents fits so very well here. Thing is, he'd probably do really well. I get the feeling that playing music would just come naturally to him.

Loved all the shoutouts. Jim and Pam missing each other and also Pam still joking around was a lot of fun too.

Author's Response:

I thought so too! I'd kind of like to listen to a show of him!

And thank you!

So this was quite charming. Fitting for the era no doubt. I could also see a modern Jim and Pam writing these to each other just for fun as well.

That Jim wrote out his true feelings first in such flowery language then crossed it all out was quite fitting as well. Onwards to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

The crossing out was my first challenge! Luckily that worked out ok!!

Oh Pam, hoping but failing to get anything. It was always a bit heartbreaking whenever they didn't talk or communicate.

I do like that Jim was still trying to include her, but she's just not ready for it yet.

Author's Response: It was heartbreaking! Such a hard episode for them (and me!!)

Ah the chaos of the modern age. The kids get into the act here and they're a ton of fun. Cece has Jim wrapped around her finger. Phil is a prankster in training and Jim is doing his best to make sure he and Pam connect. Loved it all. Wish I still had some jellybeans to give this one.

Author's Response: Ah thank you!! Makes me very happy you like it :)

I can so easily see this happening. Especially during the time that Jim was doing all those fake out proposals. It would have been a great way for her to get back at him. I also love how it shows how they have fun with each other like this. Wonderfully fun and cute!

So this is just an adorable meet-cute for Jim and Pam. That Pam was already in the pranking business before Jim got there was a great little detail. I mean, lets face it, it was love at first prank.

Everyone telling Jim to grow up seems to ring true though. Jim was kind of childish those first couple of seasons. Makes sense he'd have been even more so pre-camera. Nice way to show that there was growth as the doc went on.

Tons of fun for sure with this one. Loved it.

Author's Response: Ah thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it :)

Well that was certainly a twist. Jim and Jan being so torn up on Casino Night that that happens. Clearly they're both in a way that I'm not sure they're thinking right. It's the implications and thoughts that follow that which I think are the heaviest burden to bear. They had that thing between them and there's no taking it back. It also feels like neither one of them wants to admit it to each other that it happened or to any future partners. It's just this thing that they can't deny happened but also won't ever, or hardly ever, talk about. Kind of like there's always going to be this splinter in their memories.

Very well written to get out a lot of those complex feelings.

Author's Response: thank you so much! this is a little darker than what id usually write but ive been thinking about these two a lot. they both wanted something just out of reach for one reason or another, and i think they’d find solace in each other for one night, but would never go further than that.

This was fun. Pam dreaming up sexy Chef Jim fits really well. The build up with everything while cooking was just a slow simmer until things really started cooking with her on the countertop. But the piece de resistance (sorry not going to try and adjust things into proper French spelling in a review) was her waking up for the real thing. Clearly they're just going to skip right ahead to dessert and nothing wrong with that. Great job with this one.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review, glad you liked it!

I like this look into her internal thoughts. Clearly she was just as taken by Jim on his first day as he was of her. The fact she's all a-flutter was really cute to read. After who knows how long of a stretch of boredom she's got this new thing in her life. Why wouldn't it make her feel like this. Jim immediately knowing how to handle Dwight was spot on too.

Then Roy calls. No wonder Pam is feeling so out of sorts. He just barges on like that essentially abandoning her so he can be with his buddies. No wonder he ended up losing her. Also it brought in the first touches of that early season heartache we knew all to well. Knowing how it all ends helps, but we all know they have a long road ahead of them before they can really be together.

At the same time the connection is there right from the off. A connection that might get strained at times, but will last. Great job.

Welcome to MTT! Can't wait to read more from you.

Oh there's the pain of the early seasons starting to take hold. Jim trying to make sense of this new work place. All their various eccentricities showing up. Michael being Michael.

And running through everything is Pam. Oh Jim look at you being head over heels already. Patience. Yes Roy is an oaf, but she needs to see that for herself. Great look into his mind here though.

Oh what's that, a new match?

New AU in the city. This could be fun. Pam getting over being in a relationship with Roy but without Jim in the picture already is always an interesting headspace for her to be in. Love the little back and forth messages she and Jim are getting into. He's clearly bringing out her confidence which is always fun to see. More evidence with the picture she sent. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Oh also, please lay off guys when they pose with a picture of a fish. Many guys don't really take a lot of selfies nor do they ask their guy friends to take solo or even group pictures of themselves. The few times a guy will ask to have his picture taken is like when he catches a really big fish. It's a legitimate struggle and accomplishment. Something a lot of guys who are into fishing are very proud of. Said guys are also told to put their best foot forward on a dating app, show off their hobbies and the like. So what else are they going to do if one of the only pictures they have of themselves is also doing something they enjoy in a moment of victory? Now imagine you have this moment you're really proud of, want to show it off, but when you try you just get looks derision? I know I went off on a bit of a soapbox there, but that's the mindset to a lot of those "fish pictures," one might see on a dating app.

This was really cute. Pam being bored and drawing Jim fits her so well. Then being it's in S2 of course she's embarrassed about it and the feelings it brings up. Jim knowing her so well track too. That he can't seem to resist the pull of her to go through her trash has all those love-lorn feelings from the early seasons as well.

To expand on the scene from "DM Infinity" on the roof to finish up was tons of fun too. Jim holds onto something from those early days and Pam loves him for it. Great way of showing that they always had a really strong bond.

Welcome to MTT! Great job for your first story. Looking forward to reading more from you.

Well, first off, welcome to MTT. What a way to make an entrance. Charting a bit of the history of the Teapot not through time. There were so many emotions wrapped in this one. Jim's hurt as he preps to leave for Stamford. Pam's confidence building but not quite there when Mark gives her the box. And of course the love they clearly share when she finally reads the Note and then all the other notes. Beautiful.

I really love the idea that Jim had to write something down and store it when his feeling got just that bit extra. I can also see why he'd call it a Pandora's box of sorts. In the early days I'm sure it would be something that would be in equal parts comfort and pain. Then later good reminders of his feelings for her. Lovely way to treat it all.

Outstanding look through their lives with these snippets. I loved it.

Author's Response: Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your review! I truly love your work so this truly means so much to me!

Love how they've bantering with each other there at the beginning. Even throwing in another great S4 fake proposal. Then of course things get really interesting. I like how Pam flipped the script a bit there. Shows how confident she is in herself and especially in this relationship. Jim's initial hesitation seems good too. He's kind of caught by surprise so he's not sure how to act. But then they get into it, and each other, and it's a lot of fun. Great that Pam was willing to be more assertive and help guide things. Jim playing the part helped a lot too. The desk collapsing was spot on for the humor of the show. Of course something like that would happen right after a bit moment like that. Talk about bringing things back down to Earth! Great romp they had there.
