Bio:

author of the month March 2021

Found The Office summer '06. Immediately fell in love with JAM. Obsessed ever since.

I no longer work as a part-time receptionist, which is sort of sad because I feel less connected to Pam (just kidding!).  I'm almost finished getting my Masters in literacy and I'm a first year high school teacher! So basically I have nothing resembling free time or... sanity.

So so beautiful. I love the metaphor. I love how so little is said but so much happens.

Author's Response: Thanks! Sometimes I think all Jim/Pam stories should be dialogue only; other times I think they should have NO dialogue. Hopefully this is a happy medium.

Okay, this:

He really forgot how good it tasted, and why he loved it in the first place.

And THIS:

He’s tired of pretending he’s happy without her.

“And for the record...” She whispers really quiet so that nobody but him and her can hear them. “It was dancing.”

Now he’s really tired of pretending.

Made me soooooooooooooo happy. So, so, so happy. Fluff is so important at this point in the series, so thank you for that. Lovely.

Author's Response: thanks shan ;) I appreciate it!

Summary:

Jim was utterly powerless to say “No” when Karen flashed that charming smile in his direction.

Nothing new added here, I just realized I forgot to check the "Complete" box!

WHOA. Okay, this is such a cool story because just the first half of it would make a really lovely fic (because I, unlike many people, really like Karen and could totally see that happening)

But then the twist! I was like, "Mixed berries whaHUH?!" Awesome.

Author's Response: Hehe.. I like Karen, too, but honestly, it's just not going to work out. Ok, maybe I don't like her that much... ^_^ Thanks for the review!

I think it's so cool that you explored Karen's past relationship this way. It's such an interesting take on her character. And I can totally relate to your non-hatred of Karen, because I am also much more of a Karen than a Pam.

Author's Response: I know, I always feel guilty that people kind of hate who Karen is becoming because I've totally pulled some Karen-like moves in the past, although I like to think I've grown since those days.. Thanks for the review!

Ahhhhhhhhh! I love this!

So many little goodies that add up to awesome:

Michael's 80s-inspired nicknames for Pam, the bet, perfect costumes for everyone (especially Stanley), Risky Business (if ONLY), Roy stops Pam's dancing and Jim doesn't

“It’s not stupid.” Definitely not stupid.

"Hello? McFly? It’s 80’s slang!” and the entire dialogue exchange to follow it was so incredibly adorable and funny and them.

So much love for this story, I can barely contain it! THANK you!

This is so much better than anything I was thinking of when I wrote the prompt. Crazy good.

Kelly's music selection, the kissing order (Jim/Oscar!), the best game of rock/paper/scissors ever played, AND Jim/Pam in a confined space.

You are freaking amazing. I can't believe you did this in an hour and a half.

Oh, please let it be the start of something big!! You are continuing this, right? Because I don't know what I'll do if you don't.

By the way, rock ON for being the first to post a post-ep fic for this.

I really feel for everyone in this. I think you're being very true to all of their characters. You give Karen a fair deal here because Jim really does seem to have chemistry with her. I love the anger that Jim feels when he thinks that Roy hit Pam. I love the way Pam describes Roy being angry because she's growing up.  She had been stunted before now because she was stuck as her high school self.

Just awesome.

Author's Response:

I...might.  I've never been very good at series...es?  Is that the word?  LOL.

And I'm soooo glad you thought I did the characters justice.  I was so worried I was making Roy out to be too mean or Pam to be too vulnerable...  Thank you!

I think you did a great job of finding Karen's voice. I loved how you showed her trying not to be jealous but failing. Like this:

She heard the sarcasm in her own voice and hated herself for it.

Because I honestly think that's how she feels right now. And this part made me happy, just because I love Jim when he's just barely holding back anger:

He shot her a warning look.  “Don’t start.”

Hot. I'm really eager for chapter 3. I love a good Pam chapter!

You... are a hero.

Seriously, I just about died when Pam says, "I didn't tell him it was 'just a kiss,' if that's what you're wondering."

Oh my GOD! This whole scene was so intense. I could absolutely feel the tension and the fear. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Drop whatever you're doing and finish chapter 3!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much - much as I love the new read counter, it's also a little disconcerting to see how many people read and don't review (because of course, I immediately think, Okay, so those people read and didn't review because they thought it sucked...).

Anyway - I'm really glad to hear that the tension translated - that's ultimately what I was going for.  Part of what made season 2 so magical, IMO, was the magnitude of the things they left unsaid, and that's what I'd really like to capture here.  Because even though so much has changed (she's no longer engaged; he has lain his cards on the table - literally and figuratively), there is just so much that remains to be said -- and that's why writing fanfic is a compulsion for me. :o)

Thanks again for reviewing!

So, so good. Oh jeeze. I have tears in my eyes. You just described such a beautiful scenario in which they could both just give themselves a moment, without words, to just let go. They need something like this before they can move on.

Really lovely.

Author's Response:

Ahh, it means so much to know that this moved you to tears!  (Not that I want you to cry, but....)

Seriously, though, that was part of what I was angling for: creating a scenario in which they could just let go.

Thanks for the review!

You are a GODDESS. I cannot praise you enough for giving me such a steamy, beautiful chapter. I was freaking out while I was reading it! The only thing that could possibly make this fic better would be an epilogue (no matter how short!)

Author's Response:

Wow - thank you so much!  (By the way, spring break - for me, anyway - is in one week, and your stuff is on the top of my list of fics to read; I'm hearing such great stuff about you!)  I'm really glad that you were freaking out as you read this, because as I've mentioned in other review responses, I worried that it'd come off as kind of an anti-climax.  (*cough* TWSS!)  Thanks so much - and an epilogue is on its way!

Reviewer: shan21 Signed

As soon as I read the last line the words, "Oh, wow." escaped my mouth. Because honestly, even thought Jim is a good guy, if I was Karen I would have to come to the same conclusion. Ugh.

I like your sympathetic depiction of Karen. I don't like the big dramatic scenes where she curses Jim out and reveals herself to be either psycho or a bitch or both. I don't think it's in keeping with the realistic feel of the show. So I really liked this.

And I'm also VERY happy that this is a multi-part epilogue :)

Author's Response:

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that!  I've found myself writing sympathetic Karen more than once - probably because I can only imagine being in her position.  I mean, he is a good guy -- just not her good guy.  Sigh.

Thanks for reviewing!

Squeeee! Wow. You write UST like no one else. You could cut that sexual tension with a knife! Amazing!

And I like that Roy was reasonable here. I mean, knowing him he might go back on his promise later, but I sort of like the idea that he respects Pam's wishes here.

Author's Response:

Oh wow - thanks so much!  I enjoy writing the steamy stuff more than the smut, because so many people around here write excellent smut (which is a pejorative term, so I shouldn't use it, I guesss...).  Glad that you also liked Roy - I'm not planning on having him go back on his word, because I prefer my Roy to be sweeter and humbler.  Doggone it.  :o)

Thanks for reviewing!

(Um, “if my calculations are correct  - and they are – I assure you - , Pam shouldn’t be experiencing these symptoms for another 13 days.”   "My source, who shall remain nameless" AMAZING)

But you also create a wonderfully conflicted, honest Pam moment and end with an incredibly cliffhanger! I mean, Jim's last line? I'm so in love with that fictional man, it's scary.

So, your use of Creed was fantastic. As was Toby. Just awesome. You have me on pins and needles, as usual. You just plain rock.

(p.s. I've sent my rough draft of ch3 of Truth & Consequences to my betas, so... watch for it :))

Author's Response:

Awwww, shucks.  Thanks actually I really needed that this morning.  Is it Friday yet?

I couldn't resist trying to write how the other office mates would react to the fight.  I loved how Kevin had his fists up to Roy in the actual episode, so.... I couldn't resist having him and Toby defend Pam.  And really, I just love Toby, period.  Same for Creed, everytime he's in an episode, I usually laugh until I can't breathe.
