I love the imagery of how Jim's favourite memory of Pam was her bathed in light.  Its so beautiful, it reads like a film- I could very much picture it in my head.

Here I am again- writing before I've finished reading the story.  Just as I'm about to call it a night, I think I (subconciously) picked the perfect chapter to end the night with.  The inclusion of Jim's mother was perfect (don't worry!) and the book- I can't believe this book exists.  The lines you selected are beautiful and fit so exactly into the story.  And Jim's notation... sublime.  I know you seem to have an aversion to angst-filled chapters, but I love them.  It just seems real to me considering the place Jim/Pam are at in season 2. 

I also think I've just added another book to my summer reading list ;-)

Le sigh. Even though this wasn't how things ended in the show- its still fits just as perfectly.  And I'll gladly suspend my belief. Download Chantal Kreviazuk's "Time"- it was what I was listening to while reading this chapter and I couldn't believe how perfectly it fit with your story. 

This storry is so sweet.  I agree with you- I think its a reasonable assumption to make that Jim would have been in love previously.  And I absolutely love how you managed to incorporate her into the story.  The ending couldn't have been more beautiful. Amazing!

Author's Response: Wow, this is an old one...hadn't thought about it in ages and just went back and skimmed it myself. I think it was like my 3rd story ever and between that and the time it was written (last summer,) it just seems so hopeful. Also only time I ever used a non-canon character...glad you thought she worked - I recall being a bit uneasy about that. I think I was just really craving some Jim-back story at that point - happy you agree it makes sense for him to have been in love once before. Anyway, before this becomes a novella...I'll just say thanks, StarryDreamer, for your lovely review.

I love it!  I feel like this goes hand in hand with the Conversations story.  Its like its a part of a series (is it? lol) I really feel like I'm a fly on the wall to their life.  Very beautiful, very wonderful.

Author's Response: Well, not consciously a series, but there definitely are some recurrent elements that seem to pop up in my stories...kind of my Office universe and welcome to it, I guess! sigh.  So sweet.  I'm so loving this series.  I loved the last chapter when Jim & Pam were playing house with Sasha, and I loved that you skipped to the future where they make up for those lost moments. le sigh......

I had been waiting until Spring Break rolled around so that I could devote the time to reading this story from start to finish. As luck would have it mother nature blew in and prevented me from going to work, thus giving me a day off to enjoy and appreciate this work of art.  My favourite scene in the entire story was Pam calling Jim telling him to come back.  My heart literally just jumped at that scene.  It said so many things in so little words.  I liked that you made Jim & Pam realistic, but sexual beings. *blush*  Some of those scenes...

Fantastic piece of work.  But I almost felt that it ended perfectly yet could continue... it was weird.  Anyway, you should be immensely proud of yourself.  Your story is amazing.

Holy God. I can't tell you how many of these "moments" I've had in my life.  It's so true that you just magnify these little, stupid moments and think they mean something much bigger and then when they don't... Oy. Wow. Awesome chapter... and I've just begun. (If I don't get marking done tomorrow, I'm leaving YOU responsible! LOL)

And the whole meeting in the chapel before the wedding bit?  In one of the rare instances I actually pictured Jim.  Weirdly enough, this rarely happens when I actually picture the characters in my head- so to see Jim talking to Pam really made me swoon (and means that it was damn good description.

Okay Michael was so Michael, but that nameplate was just the perfect gift.  And all the Jam love from the relatives had ME wisping.  These fictional characters make me seem too hormonal and give me a false sense of romance ;-)  but I'm okay with that!

Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much!  I was worried that the two Halpert family speeches would be too sentimental or over the top (though in my defense, I got much of the same at my rehearsal dinner, so....).  But yeah, I love writing silly Michael and sappy sweet Jim and Pam.  :o) Thank you so much for reviewing!  (And for being such a vocal supporter, too.) 

Wow!  35 chapters and I'm amazed that the story has continued and been riviting throughout.  I couldn't stop reading (ALL DAY!) I can't believe that there's still so much potential left to the story (c'mon wedding night! Whoo!).  Again, another winner.

I'm really glad that you're finding it compelling even beyond the "happy ending," so to speak.  I've mentioned before that I find it incredibly problematic that most fiction (not fanfiction) ends with the ostensible resoultion (i.e. couple gets together/engaged/wed).  I really wanted to follow it through beyond that for at least a few chapters.

Favourite part. I'm curious to see a follow up to this story.  Almost like it needs a bookend story.  I especially loved the last line: "She could only hope he wanted all the things he'd left behind"  Of course he does!!!!!
