This is one of my favorite stories going right now...I always get excited for an update, whether I find it on ff.net or here at MTT.

Oh man...Pam not wanting Jim (either of them really) to go to New York. Eek. You can't just shoot one person's life-changing proposition down like that. Compromise is better than an outright "no."

Then, she's in a car accident? OMG! Can't wait for the next chapter, seriously.

Summary:

Jim's with Karen. Pam's with Roy. Misery all around until Pam fights to find her passion again. In her art and in her love life.

Oooh

I love this. The idea that Karen tore down the flyer...I could totally see that. And the convo between Jim and Pam on the roof felt really in character for me, for how things are in canon at the moment.

Yay for strong(er) Pam! Let the staredowns continue!

Author's Response: Karen has intense eyes. But Pam has stamina! =-D

Summary:

Wishful thinking for a Jim/Pam fan who's convinced it'll all work out, but is sick of waiting.

Can I just say I loved your backstory on the outfit that Pam wore to the art show, and especially her iner thoughts about Roy in relation to her art. So spot on. You pointed out things I hadn't even realized about their dynamic. And my mom and I would have had the same discussion about the jumper looking like something an artist would wear.

OMG, she sent the last e-mail? Or all of them? Eeeee! I was so sad to see that Jim didn't show up at the art show, even if Michael's appearance did have me in tears. Can't wait to see what you bring us in the next chapter...

I missed this conclusion when you posted it, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it today. I think I held my breath as I read this chapter...it was so good and intense and cathartic. And as I finished, a pleased sigh and smile were my reaction.  Just lovely. Added to favorites.

Author's Response: Thanks so much - I'm glad you liked it!  This is one of those stories that just came out of nowhere, and I had to get it out.  :o) Thanks for the review!

Summary: Courage and honesty were not her strong points but subtlety is. A series of moments that help explain Pam's art pieces. Spoilers through Business School

I've been having problems with posting my entire chapters so re-read the chapters to make sure you've gotten all of it. They should be fixed now... hopefuly!

I love the backstory on each of the seemingly simple, innocuous items Pam included in the art show. I'm just a little sad anticipating that after all the thought Pam put into her selections, given the significance of these pieces, that the one person (Jim) for whom they would mean as much doesn't even get to see them at the art show...that we know of. Hmm....

Looking forward to more!

Oh, thank you for this lovely follow up to 'Cocktails'. I'm unspoiled, but I KNEW there would have to be a serious cliffhanger involving Jim/Pam going into the post-sweeps reruns... I sure wasn't expecting crazy!Roy the screamer-slash-mirror-smasher. This fic was just what I needed to settle down my OMG!WTF! reaction to the show.

Nicely done.

Author's Response:

I'm never unspoiled, and even I didn't expect that!

Thank you!!

I love that Pam recounted her exact description of the Casino Night happenings to Jim - that she kissed him, that she had feelings for him...that it wasn't one-sided.

And add me to the list of folks who wants to see Pam's "Jim" playlist. I love to see what other fans consider 'Jim/Pam songs'.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review - and I'll post that playlist at the end of the next chapter.  Thanks again!

Great chapter, as always. I really like that we're seeing the fallout of their decision. So many fics have Karen conveniently transferring immediately post-breakup and Roy never coming out of the warehouse again, and Jim and Pam blissfully happy forevah (and I love those stories too) but it's good to also see the very real consequences of all of their decisions.

I loved their matching heartbeats in the elevator...you built very effective tension in the weeks prior to the elevator ride, so much so that I was almost holding my breath as they gazed at each other.

Can't wait to read what you have in mind for the final chapter, though I'll be sad to see this story end.

Author's Response:

You know, it's interesting that you commented on seeing the fallout; I'm guilty of transferring Karen immediately after it all blows up in previous fics ("Off you go - here, have a nice ham as a consolation prize...."), but in this one, I did want to do something different (for me, anyway).  It also would give Pam and Jim more incentive to keep things quiet as well.

I'm really glad you found the elevator scene effective, too.  Thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh, this was just so satisfying, even without the steam. The knowing looks, the smiles, the amazement that they're finally here. Gah. It's so awesome. And these bits were just the perfect ending to the chapter:

...a thought suddenly struck her: It's time to go all in.

So she simply said, "To the future...to walking toward it instead of trying to run away from it.

*sigh*

You left me with a huge grin at the end. Now, bring on the smut!

Author's Response: So glad I left you satisfied and smiling (couldn't resist!).  And the smut has arrived!  Thanks for reviewing!

I like this a lot! I love Pam's outfit, her throwing the cell phone  out the window, and I love how you involved Dwight in the story. Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thank you thank you!  I just always feel bad ass in boots, and thought Pam could use a lift.  As for the cell phone, I'll admit to thinking about Alias on that one, where Syd throws he cell in the ocean?  (Ok sorry another addiction).  And I just love Dwight.  :-)

Sticking with you? Please. This is a great story! I can't wait to read more.

Stanley just sitting there unmoved, Angela with the pitcher of water, Kelly keeping Ryan out of the fight, Michael hiding under his desk, Dwight proudly using his deputy moves when he escorts Roy out -- its the great use of the ensemble in your fic that makes me like it so much. Plus, I just love Creed's little statements - always getting everyone's names wrong. Cracks me up amidst all the tension. Nicely done.

Author's Response:

I think that, especially lately, with all the JAM frustration, the ensemble is what gets me through.  Dwight holding Pam while she cried, Michael buying her art.  Maybe I'm just a sucker, but I loved seeing that despite it all these people care about each other.  Oddly, something I think Jim and Karen are the only ones who don't get that.  Oh, and Stanley of course.  ;-)

Thanks for the review, this has been a fun one for me too.  And I'm so happy and flattered knowing people like reading it.  Makes me feel better about the dance of joy I do when some of my favorite stories have been updated.

Favorite part so far:

“God you can’t even trash talk the right way,” Roy said laughing again. “Are you sure you made it with this guy Pam? He’s so gay.”

God, Roy would absolutely say this. SO in character.

Man, I can't WAIT to read what comes next! Adding this to favorites.

OH WOW! I never thought of Jim telling Karen about the drunken kiss at the Dundies but not Casino Night. I repeat...wow. I could see it playing out just that way in canon, too.

And man, you know JUST when to end a chapter. I'm on pins and needles here! Great job. Seriously.

Author's Response: Heh. Glad you write the kiss confusion thing. I read the idea on Office Tally and used it in one of my other fics. Since then I've decided that it's my own special fic canon :) Glad you like the cliffhanger too!

I've never seen anyone have Jim face up to all the times that he's hesitated, while never giving Pam the chance to do the same even once.

He’s stunned by the new view of his own actions.

Me too, Jim.

Well done! Yours is a fic that I get excited to see an update to. Can't wait for your next chapter.

So, so good.  I loved the snowglobe imagery. I also loved Jim finally having enough drama for the night, and when he  realized he did use Karen (and Katy). I honestly think he doesn't realize it, even in canon.

Nice job! I especially liked the insight into Roy's thoughts about Pam (he's really that uncomplicated, isn't he?) and Jim 'reasoning' with Roy while sitting atop his chest.  Very cool.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  Jim's solution to the Roy dilemma was actually the part I was proudest of.  The Halpert special is the move described in the story with the fingers/tongue combination.

Jim, Jim, Jim. *sigh* This story is so well done, you've got ME guessing. Does Pam know or not know? Does Vexin know and has she told Pam? What the heck is Jim gonna do for a photo?  (I keep picturing him using the fake-photo that comes when you buy a picture frame, LOL, but I could see him using a picture of one of his cousins or something.) And is Pam pushing for one because she wants to see how far Jim will take his lie?

Oh man. This story continues to be awesome, but it's starting to make me really nervous. The tension!

And how many of us looked up the words to the Adam Sandler song? I bet that link got a ton of hits from this chapter! (I looked!)

One small thing: I'm sure someone else has told you that your link to the Lisahoo images isn't a complete web address, so we can't link to it.

And where's Karen? Hmm...inquiring minds want to know.

Though I must say that Ryan's belief that everyone online are 'freaks and perverts' is one echoed by my husband. That made me giggle.
