I thought your story was well written, and it was funny to read their exchange where they try to guess who Phyllis's one night stand was. I had an issue though with characterization, which took me out of the story. I know you warned about it in your notes at the beginning. I couldn't really recognize both Pam and Jim in being so explicit. Pam and Jim are so much about what is unspoken between them that I just don't think she could be that forward, at least not without having been dating Jim for a while. But certainly, YMMV.
Author's Response: When I was finished, I realised that the story was less about Jim and Pam the characters and more about the tragic side to their relationship. Something outside the box, I suppose. Thank you for the construcive critism, I do appreciate it.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it. I really tried to keep things in character, and I have a hard time believing they would shut off their 'banter' just because things were getting steamy. They both have their own ingrained insecurities and especially for their first time in this sort of situation, I think it wouldn't turn out nearly as well between them if they didn't keep it a little light.

I think the chapter worked well. The pacing was good to establish the tension between them, and you really used humour well to diffuse the awkwardness of the situation, which is totally something they would do.
My favourite exchange had to be:
"Jim put a hand up to his neck. "Do you mind? You can't just paw me like you own me."
"Sure I can," she grinned, pushing his hand away and starting to undo the next button. "You got more hiding in here?"
Jim let out an exaggerated sigh. "I'm so tired of you treating me like a sex object."
Very cute, and I could really hear them saying that to each other.
