Summary: “When did you first realize you liked me?”

Jim and Pam do some reminiscing (some episode-related, some purely invented), and Jim does some soul-searching (eventually). Set during Season 4 with flashbacks, so we'll say mild spoilers through the Deposition to be safe.

I swear I have thought of some of what you are writing in fan fics in my head.  You are doing a great job describing poor Pams mindset.  I LOVE it.

I was hoping we could skip the part where Pam backslides with Roy.  Hopefully Jim and her will work it out soon.  Enjoying this.

It was all I could do to read this in one sitting.  My dad spent a lot of time in the hospital before he passed away.  I know it's every parents nightmare to know they won't be there for their children regardless of how old they are.  You did such a beautiful job of letting Pam's story play out in a way to comfort Jim.    My vote on the laptop to Hawaii is neither, you do what you want.  It's such a beautiful place to just go and relax.  Your creative juices are bound to flow either way.  Have a wonderful trip and thanks for the quick update.

Author's Response: Thanks, kh!  I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter.  I'm sorry if it dredged up painful memories for you, though.  I'm sure the trip will be splendiferous!  How could it not!?

Yipee! I know I already knew this was coming but having it appear on this site makes me so happy. I know it's been a long wait but it was worth it. This is still my all time favorite story. There is just something about it that mesmorizes me. Thank you for not giving up.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for leaving a review. It's so unnerving when the read count goes up with no reviews! All your emails are part of the reason I haven't given up. Thank YOU!

I read your note at MTT and have to apologize for not reviewing your latest chapter.  As always it's another gem.  I am very anxious for Jim and Pam to talk.  Even though I'm afraid when they do it may be the end.  I'm sad thinking Pam doesn't know that Jim has figured it out.  Thanks again for a wonderful job.

Author's Response:

Thanks, KH.  I was feeling a bit neurotic about the lack of reviews.  I like things when I post 'em but then, if there's very little feedback, I start to second-guess myself and think, "Well, maybe not enough happened." or that I've bored the pants off everyone, readers are finally losing interest ... my mind goes through all kinds of scenarios, none of them any fun.

The story won't end as soon as Pam and Jim talk.  I've got a few more chapters in me.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a note.  I appreciate it.

I kinda feel bad that I don't feel that bad for Karen.  I think I am just so happy it's done.  You went into some great details of their dialogue.  Once again, great job.  As painful as it is to wait I like having something to look forward to.

Author's Response:

Thanks!  You're making me laugh that you don't feel bad about not feeling bad.

I am happy to keep you living witha review.  I don't really have anything worthy to say to how great this was.  So intimate without words.  Thank you once again for a masterpiece.

Author's Response: Thanks, kh.  I'm kinda blushing.  More soon.  I hope you like the next one, as well as this one.  I'm enjoying writing it.

This is the only story that my heart does a leap every time I see an update.  I'm glad you had a nice trip and can't wait to see the picture.  Now I am so happy that Jim believes Pam loves him.  I'm nervous though that he will doubt himself before he gets back to her.  I absolutely love this story.

Author's Response:

Oops!  Somehow I missed your review.  Hopefully, you got back into the chapter end notes and saw the pictures.  Maui is really a paradise.

And, geez, thanks a lot for the "heart does a leap" comment!  That is just such a nice thing for you to say.  It really made my day!

First off I sqealed with delight when I saw you had updated.  I was just thinking about this story yesterday.  I wanted to beg you for an update but didn't want to bother!  I loved your scene with Larrisa.  The same thing happened with my dad.  It was very scary to watch.  They had to tie him down.  I love everything about this story actually.  I know you have struggled finishing this but I hope you know you are a talented writer and should keep going.  I'm willing to wait as long as it takes.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for your REALLY kind words.  I can't believe how nice people are about the incredibly long time it takes me to post these chapters recently.

And, yeah, it really is scary to watch a family member go through this.  Poor Larissa isn't done yet, either!

I was so excited when I saw this update!  You are amazing the way you make the words come to life for me.  I will wait patiently for your next update.

Author's Response:

Wow.  I make words come to life for you?  That is such a nice thing to say.  I really appreciate it.  A lot!

I can't tell you how happy I am when I see an update.  This was such a sweet Mother/Son chapter.  I love how they were able to talk and Jim was there for her.  On a side note, have a great visit with your son.

Author's Response:

Thanks, kh!  I may not know how happy you are to see an update but I can tell you I'm very happy to see your reviews!  I'm glad you liked the interaction between Jim & Larissa.

I surely am looking forward to my visit with Young Blood!  Eleven days together!  It's gonna be great!

I literally shouted "yeah" when I saw this.  I swear yesterday I was thinking and hoping you would come back.  I am so happy and can't wait for more.  It seems like Pam is stepping it up alittle.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  That brought a smile to my face!  I really have been thinking, outlining, drafting off and on for the past few months.  I'm hoping to post things fairly promptly.  Nothing like when I was home with the itchy face but not at a glacial pace, either.

I really appreciate the feedback!

I have a huge grin on my face because you have updated this story.  I loved seeing them have a moment before going back to the grind.  Thank you so much.

First, welcome back!  I yelled when I saw an update was up.  Another outstanding saga.  I feel so bad for Jim and his Mom.  Hopefully going to the chapel will help lighten his burdens.  Thanks so much for working through this.  It really is an incredible story.

Author's Response:

Thank you very much!  I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter because this one was just a nightmare to work through.  I'm not sure why this one was so hard but ...

Anyway, thanks for leaving a note!

Even though I knew another update was coming I was SO excited to see this.  Loved Larissa's cautious attitude about Pam.  Very realistic for a mom.  I know the JAM interaction is coming and I can't wait, but I too am loving the other relationship storylines.

Author's Response: Thanks!  I've got to get back to work now.  I'm hoping to write part of the next chapter tomorrow.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your face.  I hope it doesn't last long.  This story is so detailed and precise.  I really love it.  I kinda know what you are talking about with some of the medicines and it brings back memories.  Thank you for taking the time to keep this real.

Author's Response:

Thanks very much!  I'm sure hoping it doesn't last long, either!  I'm waiting for the prednisone to kick in but so far, no dice.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.  I'm glad that it's coming across as realistic.

That was a powerful chapter.  My Dad was in the hospital alot hooked up to many machines so I can empathize with them.  Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks very much!  It means a lot when people who've been through similar situations say it rings true.

First, thanks for sticking with this.  I knew it would be worth the wait.  Your description was spot on.  I had someone go through this also and you really described it perfectly.  I'm anxious for Jim and his Dad to reconnect more.  Thanks again for not quitting on us!

Author's Response: Thank YOU for all the gentle nudging! I dealt with the low O2, but not the whole self-extubation thing. ROJ was a lot of help with that part. I'm glad you think I got it right.

I loved your flashback.  My husband traveled to Australia many years ago and still likes to throw out a slang now and then.  My heart breaks for both of them.  I hope through all of this they can really talk things out.  I can't tell you how happy I am whenever I see you have updated.  This is the best story out there!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, khand3stooges!  This is the best story out there!  Now you're making me blush!

I'm glad to see you liked the flashback.  I've often wondered how Jim would've spent that day.  Not getting much feedback on this chapter, so maybe it didn't work for most as well as I'd hoped.  I'm glad it worked for you!

Hoyl Crap! I was more than estatic when I saw another chapter posted. I agree with the others about it being more than a physical connection between those two. I know you are anxious about writing the next bit but I think the way you have made us all "feel" so much with them we will not be disappointed. If it's too much than just forget it and move on. I hope everyone will understand. I personally am just so happy that you came back to us.

Author's Response: Thanks a lot, kh! I gotta say I was pretty ecstatic to see another chapter get posted, too! I am really touched that a few people are so invested in the story. Thank you.
