Comments: So, this is been bothering me all day so I’m going to do something I normally don’t do, which is give a critical review on a very old story, on one of the authors that I respect most, no less. First of all, I just want to say, I do understand that the story was written in 2006 before Karen ever entered the picture even so I understand that I have a very different perspective than the author was able to have. Saying that, this definitely isn’t my head canon for Jim’s backstory. I don’t feel like he had a huge romance before he met Pam, he’s too naïve in love and relationships. He proves that even throughout his relationship with Pam but definitely before he’s with her. For me it feels like his first serious relationship is actually with Karen (and we all know how serious he was about that relationship, not that he didn’t try). But that’s not the critical part of my review.This story I think it could have been amazing but for one thing. I do not enjoy the part where the woman seduces and takes advantage of a drunk broken man. And honestly, maybe I would’ve thought differently at the time when it was written but right now, in 2017, I just can’t read this and think it’s OK. It was clearly her plan to visit Jim, knowing he’s desperately in love with this other woman, but to fuck him anyway for her own selfish reasons.  And the poor guy was too drunk to be in his right mind to say no and she took advantage. It was clear to her how much he hated that one night stand he had not too long ago so she would have to assume he would have regrets about this. And I don’t buy the argument as this being a casual sex/release thing for Jim, that is definitely not what he needed and he knew it. He needed somebody to talk to which he got with Sara. And he needed to figure out a way to work through his issues with Pam, with Pam. Let’s turn this into a role reversal. Pam is hurting for gym after confessing her love boyfriend comes in a visitor drunk start kissing and she says no this is it right when she stops it paragraphLet’s turn this into a role reversal Pam is in gym situation read the story and switch the situations and the guy doesn’t stop and put pressure on pan with the story have been received the same by the readers wouldn’t have been written the same by the writer I really don’t think so. Not just because Pam isn’t a casual sex kind of girl. I’m not convinced that Jim is a casual sex kind of guy. I think if he were that’s all Katy would’ve beenI don’t know, I guess I would’ve either omitted the sex altogether or if it must be there I wouldn’t have it be premeditated. It would be just both of them shitfaced and it happened, and something they both regret.Seriously, what the hell kind of a friend wants to help a guy win his true love but has set out to fuck him first?
