Beautiful, thoughtful piece. Jim's inner voice really matches his body language as he walked out of the office. It's as accurate as I can imagine.

By the way...you yanked out my heart and stomped on it!

Author's Response:

Aww - not what I intended!  And besides, you can tell he loves her - everything's going to be okay in the end.

Stunning! Your writing has a lovely, lyrical quality. You're very talented.

"When the sea was rough, he’d watch the boats in the marina swaying in their moorings. They looked so tiny from high above, weightless, like one good wave could take them all out. At mid-morning they were silhouettes, the angle of the sun directly in his line of sight." I especially like how in so few words you're able to draw a crystal clear picture of the marina as seen through Jim's window.

I enjoyed contemplative Jim.

Author's Response: Oh, thank you! I love contemplative Jim too. I'm glad the picture read...a great thing to hear!

This has to be my favorite chapter of anything you've written for MTT. I don't know where to begin: Roy - at turns thoughtful, confused, stunned; Michael - trying to do the right thing by giving Jim a "wake"; Pam's mom - wanting to help her daughter but knowing when to back off; Pam - realizing that she had done a lot more taking than giving; Marlowe; Milton; Paradise Lost; mixed berries. There isn't one false note in your piece.

Well done! This chapter deserves an eleven.

Author's Response: Wow - what a great review!  Thank you so much.  I worried that the faux wake would be too much, so I'm glad you liked it.  Thanks again!

Summary: Karen and Pam decide to throw a party and Jim hopes that by New Year's he'll have some things resolved. Spoilers through Benihana Christmas.

Geez, Louise! Would someone lock Karen in the basement? Please!

You've done a great job creating a natural feel to the tension with the interrupted conversations. But really, put her in the basement.

Your story could benefit from a beta helping you with the correct punctuation of conversation. I was taken out of the story because I had to reread so often in order to make sense of whether Jim or Pam was speaking. It's been a problem in your other stories as well.

I also noticed "their" incorrectly used in place of "they're"—"...their cold and always..." and "Because their horrible for..."

That said, it's was a cute vignette.

Author's Response: :) thanks. it was beta'd but there were still a few mistakes in there, I will def. be in to fix them.

You have a continuity error, yanana. In Chapter 13 you imply Pam didn't know about Jim's hairy chest because it's the first time she's seen him without a shirt. In Chapter 6, Jim drops the blanket he's been holding and she helps get him back to bed—all while he's shirtless. It's mentioned again in Chapters 8 and 9 that's he's bare-chested.

Author's Response: Actually, what I was trying to get across (and apparently was not successful in) was Pam actually letting herself getting a look at him, instead of before when she was more distracted/concerned because of how they were around each other, and how Jim was pretty sick when she initially came over. Hope you still managed to enjoy the chapter.
