I'm a Brit and so have to admit that I was skeptical when I heard that a US version of The Office was being made as I loved our version so much. When I watched the first season, I was still undecided but in the second season, the characters and the writing really came into its own and now I am hooked. I have to say that I really don't prefer one version over another; they are just different. Different but equally brilliant. I have been devouring stories on this site for ages and thought I'd try my hand at this writing malarky. Well, at least it's 'malarky' when I do it!

This is lovely. It's so nice to read a story which depicts Pam's thoughts during that fateful voyage. I especially like this image: “There was always something about Jim that made me feel warm and comfortable inside. Something about him that was sweet and calm, like falling into a bed of cotton balls.” I can imagine Pam describing her feelings for Jim in this way.

And this is just so very sad - but I think, true: “So I pull my jacket on around me a bit tighter, tell him I’m cold, and I run inside so I don’t have to see that look in his eyes anymore. So I don’t have to acknowledge that there could be something better out there for me.”

Great job. :)

I'm really enjoying this, EL - are there more chapters to follow? I like that she finds 'upgraded Roy' unnervingly hot! Roy, especially when he lost the weight, was pretty fine. Finally, this was so very sad, but definitely something I can see Pam thinking: She takes him inside her new home, into her new bedroom, into her, because she’s not the kind of girl that gets what she wants. *sniff*

Author's Response: i did not write any further chapters - but - wow. i like that idea! if you have any thoughts on what might come next, please email me! i will be totally honest. this whole thing came to be because of (a) how sad pam seemed to be driving michael home and (b) how crazy hot david denman looked in \"diwali.\" i mean, for real. \r\npoor pam. she was so tragic circa s3, i sort of miss that...

I loved every single word of this story, yanana. You packed so much in: humour, angst, realistic dialogue and some um, pretty nice sex.

I can't recall your exact words now, but you wrote something about Jim knowing that he was drunk because he feels like kissing Pam each time she laughs. And that he's not talking about 'normal' kissing, but instead, 'throw you down on a table and lose myself in you' type kissing...something like that. Your exact words were far better. You really did a great job describing his emotions, his desire for her in that scene, and I squeed like a total fangirl when he kissed her outside under the orange light.

Just brilliant writing, as always. BA
