Oh, that was cruel of you. And kind of cruel of Pam too, actually. I mean, poor Jim is in PAIN, in more ways than one. And she's just going to leave him there like that? Ouch.

But that said, I'm really looking forward to your next chapter and the resolution of this little Disney adventure. It's been a really fun ride seeing the parks through all of their eyes. And Magic Kingdom has most of my favorites - Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion. Classics all.

This story amused me greatly because my hubby just recently grew a beard for the first time since I've known him (which is a looong time). It's kind of bizarre. But it made me like this even more.

Aww. What a wonderful homecoming for Pam. I'm so glad you showed them dealing with the reasons for her return besides just their revelry in being together again. As happy as the ending of the episode was, I can't help but think it left some lingering questions, all of which you've addressed very nicely here. I especially love the ending bits where Jim clearly loves sharing the news about Andy and Angela's wedding, and about Ryan and Kelly too. The craziness of the office is a major connecting link between the two of them, and it subtly gives her yet another reminder of why she came back to Scranton.

Author's Response: Aww Blanca - thanks!  I had them at first discussing the wedding and Pam saying she wanted something smaller this time etc...maybe touching on Phyllis' Wedding a bit - but I liked this idea better in the end.  Obviously.   So glad you liked it.

Hey, callisto, this is awesome. It just helps to extend the happy feeling from last week. I love your idea of the significance of the rest stop. And the missing scene was an even better addition to the episode. I liked it all, but I especially liked the ending to the second part. :-)

I am loving this. I've seen a lot of What Not to Wear, and this reads like a virtual transcript of an episode. Your Stacy and Clinton are just the right mixture of snarky and caring. It could have been really easy to go too far one way or the other, but you got them just right. I wonder whether this will go AU at the ed and everyone will find out about Pam's "secret boyfriend." I\'m really glad you\'re enjoying Stacy and Clinton too; I think they would be a little more sensitive with someone like Pam, so I\'m really trying to keep them in check while still getting the point across that she needs a change. I'm so glad you did decide to put it up. I was just thinking about Alex and what that conversation meant for Jim and Pam earlier today, and this basically crystallized everything I was already thinking. Then it went even further, and got way better than anything I could have come up with. I really enjoyed it!

Fascinating. Truly. This had me thinking in all kinds of ways about the things Jim and Pam have left unsaid, all their residual scars. Because at this point in time they'd been apart longer than they'd been together. During much of that time they were unknowingly hurting each other, and the past has a way of sneaking up on you. Or maybe it's always there, and you can only ignore it for so long. That's what I got out of this, anyway.

How appropriate for their fight to start with a seemingly harmless comment with deeper implications. Because it's never really about the croutons, is it? That's how it happens so often in real life.

You don’t know how to fight with Jim.

Yes, yes, yes. That is something I've always said about relationships. It takes time, but you've got to learn how to fight with each other. They're just starting out, and making all kinds of mistakes, which is so, so true.

There all sorts of brilliant observations in here -- about Jim and Pam, about life, about love. So many that if I start quoting them all, I'll just end up copying and pasting the whole thing. Why is it just as satisfying to read an angsty fight like this as it is to read steam or fluff (or fluffy steam)? I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, you're good at it.

I agree with so much of what you point out - that so many things get left unsaid, for better or worse; that you do have to kearn to fight (and that that\'s not dysfunctional, it\'s actually healthy); that it\'s NEVER just croutons.
