Hi! I'm Courtney, I'm 22, I'm obsessed with The Office.

I'm a graduate student of clinical-counseling psychology, which means that I actually have negative amounts of time to devote to fanfiction. But I do it anyway, because hey-- obsessed over here. I love to beta-read, and I'm more than willing to trade editing services with anybody who needs them.

There's things about this that I like, and things about it that I like less.

I think my favorite line is "her ridiculously-placed coffee table," which is a really good way to describe an awkward piece of furniture. My coffee table is also in a really ridiculous place, so I empathize with Pam on this one. :)

Some of the things I like less-- there's several places in this story that you make pretty big grammatical errors. Some sentences don't have periods at the end, for instance, and the way you use quotation marks is incorrect. Stuff like that really takes me out of the story, and it's not hard to fix.

Also, Jim said "Pam" or "Beesly" or some variation of that pretty much every time he talked. Maybe you could vary that up a bit more?

All in all, a good first attempt. With a little more polishing, it could be even better.

Author's Response: I appreciate your comments. I sent this to a few people who reasured me the grammar was correct, so I\'ll be having words with those beta\'s ;)\r\n\r\n

Oh man, this made me bawl. I'm seriously in love with this story so hard. I listened to the last half of "Abbey Road" over and over while I read it, and just... damn. The way it flows, the brief scenes, it's... the whole thing is just incredible. I've got nothing else other than platitudes. So amazing.

Author's Response:

I always feel a little guilty when I write something that I know has the potential to make people cry. Anyway it's funny that you mention listening to something over and over again while reading because I actually had a certain song playing on repeat for almost the whole time I was writing this. and the even weirder thing is that the song is kind of upbeat, though I guess the lyrics talk about longing sort of. I would've mentioned the song in my notes, but it doesn't really fit the story, so I didn't. But yeah, I just think it's cool that we were both listening to something on repeat. :)

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

HOORAY, Christmas fic!

I got the email notification that you'd uploaded a new story when I was at work this afternoon, and I spent all day bouncing around waiting to read it. Because seriously, you + Christmas fic + S2 = so much love.

I love this, I really do. Your Jim voice is always right on. I think one of your biggest strengths is your ability to write Jim/Pam dialogue that sounds exactly like it should.

This breaks my heart, and makes me so happy, and it's hot, and it's beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Author's Response: If you\'re not reading it at work, does that mean I should refrain from writing it at work? ::looks around cubicle guiltily:: Thanks for your kind words, Corking. I\'m glad you like my Jim. He\'s normally a little more difficult to write than Pam, but, in this case, the story was much easier to tell from his pov (and, believe me, I tried it from Pam\'s). Have a happy, happy holiday.

Summary: Response to the Season 2 Mistletoe challenge. It shows up eventually, I promise. After the Christmas party, Jim is tired of being thought of as just a pal, especially by one person in particular. But will he do anything about it?

Um.

I don't know how I feel about this. I can't ever imagine Jim having any of these thoughts, or using so much anti-woman language, even just in his own head.

Author's Response: Yeah, it doesn\'t seem very Jim-like, does it? I based this part of the story on a few friends of mine who, like Jim, are perpetual nice guy charmers and have confided in me that sometimes they hate that about themselves because they feel like women see them as less virile and manly, and it can be really, really frustrating. One of my friends said something like \"I like that women trust me, but sometimes I just want to be like \'hey, I\'m not a eunuch.\' This was Jim\'s frustration really coming to a head.

Seriously, I just love it. Karen being snappy, Holly being dorky and inventing languages, and Toby just sort of absorbing it all and learning from it. And Holly naming her turtle after him, and it making Sasha laugh?

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I agree there isn\'t that much Toby-fic and I\'m trying to remedy that. Glad you liked it! Something about Holly naming her turtle Toby just struck me as funny for some reason.

I love everything about the things this story chooses to be. The quietness of the morning, the slow build to the amazing sex I'm sure they had (hee!), the Soul Asylum, the e.e. cummings. It's all amazing. I can definitely see Jim and Pam doing something like this. In fact, I'm kind of waiting for it to happen on the show! Maybe during the two-part ep in a few weeks? :)

Author's Response: I\'m waiting for this to happen-without-happening on the show (Zen!). As I\'ve said in other reviews, I\'m really stuck on how insular Pam and Jim are this season - it\'s just so perfect. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Corking.

This is so sweet. I love that you haven't made Toby a total happy sap, but you have given him a degree of happiness with Sasha. She's really the only thing that we've ever seen make him happy (except for when he beat Michael at poker, I guess!).

Ok, question-- aren't the lyrics to the song, "Jack Frost nipping at your NOSE"? Or am I missing a joke or something?

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. :) I don\'t think Toby has it in him to be a happy sap, haha.

And the lyrics are indeed \"nose\" but I made the title with reference to the phrase \"nipping at your heels\" for when something is bothering you, etc. Snow is definitely bothering me right now.

AHHH I can't believe you stopped there! I'm trying to think of a word to describe how I feel right now, and the closest I can get is "cock-blocked." Which, like, I'm a girl, but I think the sentiment of it is pretty accurate.

Seriously, I love this. I love this, I love this. If I had to pick a favorite part, it'd be:

"Okay," she said, because it wasn't a yes or a no, and because her heart had sped up and it felt like something other than arousal. She had a quick flash of herself and Roy at seventeen and, though she wasn't collected enough to remember, she thought she had said "okay" then, too.

Aaaaaah I love it. So many writers portray Roy and Pam's sex life as bad, unexciting, boring. I love how you drew these similarities between Roy and Jim, but highlighted differences too. It's a heady mix of the familiar and the unknown for Pam, and you made it that way for the reader, too.

And also:

She sat up quickly, dislodging his hand. "I -" and she was going to say "can't," but that seemed like the worst possible thing to say

That made me go "OH." That line speaks to all the history and the hurt the two of them had to go through to get to where they are in this story, and it's just so good.

Brilliant, as always, just superb.

Author's Response: Corking, I firmly believe that Roy and Pam had a healthy, happy sex life, if only because I don\'t want to think that our dear girl was deprived of such a source of joy for so long. I\'m not saying it was perfect (no physical relationship ever is, after all), but I don\'t think it was as awful as some writers want it to have been. Thank you so much for your kind review. I hope you enjoy the remaining parts.
