First-time reviewer...what to say? Well, I'm enjoying the ride. Glad to see Jim finally have it out with Karen, because I think that issue needed to have some sort of resolution before anything significant could happen, Jam-wise. I also appreciate the fact that you didn't portray Karen as some crazy person. While I'm a PB&J guy all the way, I emphasized with Karen too. She was a pretty likable person, but people tended to dislike her because she was a sort of roadblock between the pairing everyone wanted to see. Glad to see that you stayed true to her character, and didn't make her out to be some villain.

Anyhow, sorry I haven't reviewed before now. But I'll certainly be reading the rest of this story, and will try and review as well. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Karen ... yeah, I pretty much decimated her in my other longish story (Gifts).  So I thought I should be nice to the poor girl this time around.  I'm glad you're enjoying the story.  Thanks so much for registering and reviewing!  It means a lot to the writer to get feedback from you readers.

I was just introduced to this story (through your review of Acquisition), and read through the whole thing. Really, really good stuff. Very unique and fun, and I can't wait to read more.

Here's a quick question: in the little AU you've created, were Pam and Roy ever actually engaged?

Author's Response: Aww thank you so much. I'm working on the next part now. I'm not as speedy as some of the great authors on here lol. In my AU, she was engaged to Roy, but broke up with him much sooner than she did on the show. I wanted to try and show how Fancy New Beesly was always in there, she just needed the chance tobe on her own for a bit. Which is why my pam is a little more forward and confident than the Pam on the show :)

Seems like a pretty interesting idea. I'll be checking in on this one.

I don't think this chapter kicked your ass half as bad as it did Jim's, Pam's and Karen's. I've always thought this period, this day where Karen went off on Jim, was prime material for a nice bit of angst, but I don't remember reading too many stories that focused on it. I thought you handled it really well, and it made for an interesting contrast compared to the steam and fluff that we saw in the beginning of the story. I'm sure we'll be seeing a return to that in the not-too-distant future, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying the drama.

I've read a lot of first date stories but they almost always focus on Jim and Pam's budding relationship and never even acknowledged the end of Jim and Karen's relationship. As much as I like fluffy JAM stories, I wanted to give a really detailed and honest account of the those first few weeks. Despite his mistakes, Jim is a good guy and I really think breaking up with Karen would have been hard on him. I think the guilt alone would have given him pause. I'm really happy that this story is ringing true for you. I hope you'll share your thoughts about the upcoming chapters, as well!
