I'm actually feeling jealous of Dwight and Angela, too. And Michael and Jan. Or at least Jan, because Michael loves her to bits and makes sure she knows it. They may be completely screwed-up but they're screwed up together, which is more than we can say about freaking Jim and Pam. I wish they'd at least screw together. [hell, that made no sense. I'm sorry, your stories do this to me.]

I am so irritated with all of this mumbojumbo mess but I still love it all and I'm still practically inhaling every single word. Unbelievable. :P Congrats, DickinFlicka, you win!

Author's Response: Hehe, thank you so much!  I think its funny that (on the show) all of the "crazy couples" (Michael/Jan, Dwight/Angela, Kelly/Ryan) are actually pretty functioning and, well, normal, while the uber-couple of Jim and Pam is so hopelessly messed up to the point that I'm not sure they are actually right for one another.  My absolute favorite scene that illustrates this is from Ben Franklin when Kelly and Ryan are kind of squabbling in the break room and Jim's looking on like they are so ridiculous, but then there's that completely awkward conversation with Pam, and its Kelly and Ryan who are looking at them like they are idiots, because they are!  Hehe, anyway, sorry that was long, I will stop now, but thanks!

heh, no, I loved it. Very good. Hot.

I would say more but I've got about a gazillion things to read up on for tomorrow.

But the basics: wow. Wow. Wow. wowowowowwowowowowowowwowowowwowwow.

And again, aw, crap. Jim/Pam will never exist in this story, and I think I am beginning to accept that. just beginning.

you are so good.

OYE, xoxoxo, you can't believe how much love I have for this story. so. much. love. I adored this chapter - they are such dorks, with the spiders and the mud and the terraces and still having the ability to have unbelievably hot sex. ;) Domestic bliss of JAM is quite possibly so sweet I can't handle it.

No, I can handle it, it's so much better than the awful angst we've been getting from other places...

Only thing is, I kept wondering what was wrong with Pam for caring so much about dirt on the sheets when she was going to have Jim. yeesh.

I'm just going to read this again, because I love it when I turn into goo with good reason.

Author's Response:

I think her protests were all in jest anyway - but I understand!

I'm so glad you liked it.  Writing this one made me extra happy as did your review!

Oh, how beautiful! From the beginning, to the end, to the in-betweens, all that tension and disbelief and nervousness and anxiety, there's fluff and love and lots of hope - absolutely loved this.

Now he's the one who rips off her Band-Aids: loved that! And why they can't be parents - from the Lucky Charms to the cartoons to the Dwight - awesome. And how she can't assemble things. Her motherly instinct kicking in. The tiny details - the tiny details here don't only add to the effect of this already lovely story, it adds character - every bit of these are so JimandPam-y, even if you've just created it there and then, and - it's wonderful.

And my favourite line has to be the last one. ...she knows he doesn't mean just her. God.

Am I a sap or is it just Jim and Pam? I don't care, I love it all either way.

I have to go read this again. I loved this to bits!: I hope you get that. Because this is amazing stuff.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review. The whole thing was so nice and made me smile like a fool.

It's not at all possible to get across how much I adore this story. Seriously. Everything, everything, was perfect - Angela set the tone perfectly, Phyllis was brilliant because we all know she knows, Toby was a little sad, but still I loved how you made it reasonable that he still wants her with Jim - better than her not being with anyone at all, loved Ryan because he's mean and so very much like his character on the show, nowadays.

And Dwight was perfect on all counts - everything he says, does, even the narrative is so innately Dwight it's mildly scary. I adored how he realises, how he looks away, and he doesn't use the material for blackmail even though it's unbelievably good stuff. I loved him handing her the Easter bunny like it's some kind of peace offering, like the handkerchief in Back from Vacation, and how he stays beside her because he thinks it is what Jim would want him to do - simply marvellous. I love Dwight, and I love how you got him in this story.

I loved this as a whole, really, everything about it! And I sincerely think Dwight and Angela as bookends are the best and most perfect of the lot. Absolutely lovely/brilliant/awesome/etc.. I'm going to have to read this again, now.

Adorable. I've always loved the little connection Michael and Pam seem to have - especially for the period of time Jim wasn't in Scranton, or wasn't being with Pam as a prankster-partner, which merely emphasised the understanding - because it shows so well that Pam gets who Michael is better than a whole lot of people. Maybe it wasn't voluntary, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to take that back. Now.

OK, tiny thing, but I loved how Pam hides her personal things underneath the tampons and birth control pills. So Pam, and what a brilliant Michaelbarrier!! hee, she would do that.

And I loved how you've gotten Jan. Cool, calm, but still obviously charmed by Michael, even if it's just a little. ;) I loved how you mentioned that she 'cradled' the little notebook - I think she'd do that.

And I love the idea as a whole. As always. :D You rock, Paper Scissors Jam!

Author's Response: Yes, Michael and Pam were Jim-widows together. They both lost their best friend (which in Michael's case was a bit one sided). And you know Michael would never touch "girl stuff"! Rock Paper Scissors Jam! I love it! Thanks moofoot!

Summary:

Michael’s leaning forward on his elbows, staring at her across his desk.  “That was definitely heroic and, if I may say so, romantical of you.  Well done.” While he shoots her what is meant to be a congratulatory grin, Pam stares down at the teal glass shards in her laps, still clutching the ice pack, trying desperately to pretend that the tears have stopped.

Post-Cocktails.

Oh, frick, I think this is absolutely brilliant. Amazing. Wonderful. Just - wow, so good. So good. I can't even wrap my head around it. Or make any sense.

It's the descriptions, and the Pam, even though she's not even being Pam so much anymore, maybe a FNB v2.0, the version that makes sure Roy knows, that Jim knows, that she cries but she doesn't hide, even if she may want to, the version that tells Jim and reacts to things. To everything.

Absolutely lovely. The details were absolutely amazing, and - wow.

And the END. Updating as soon as you can would be a good idea, yeah, because this is genuinely killing me. How can he - how can he do that?! Does he think that's the way she reacted after Casino Night? Does he realise the comparison is so vast it's not even fair? Jim could see, could tell that Pam felt something for him, anything, that she wasn't happy with Roy, but now, Karen's with him, and Karen's nice [not that I always think so, right now, in canon and in this story and most other stories I'd like her to dive off a cliff], and does she think anything will come out of it? Is it even half the same if they aren't friends, if she absolutely no inkling about her feelings for her [in fact I'm pretty sure she's sure he really, really dislikes her], and just...

Wow. I want to throttle him, shake him and shake him and smack his forehead for him because this is not fair. This is not fair.

Oh, gods, I'm sorry, I don't usually go off on tangents like this, but the - wow. So painful. I feel awful for Pam, I really do. I know she made mistakes, too, but I've been unbelievably mad at Jim at a lot of points during this season and, well, we have seen Pam cry.

I really love this! Seriously, updating as soon as you can, because otherwise you'll have me thinking of this for the rest of the day. ;)

Reviewer: moofoot Signed
Date: April 23, 2007 Title: Chapter 3: Come Back Down

I'm feeling a little strange, so this is going to be short - but I love this, as usual. It's funny how you'd think Pam isn't as strong as Jim, but if she does make the move, she is certainly as strong, if not stronger - Roy and Pam never looked like they were completely in love, while Jim and Karen still manage to look like they're perfectly fine; Jim and Pam were friends and it looked like Pam could love him too, and now Jim and Pam seem to barely say a few words to each other, and he's cold, stand-offish, a little mean. It's not the same, and if Pam makes a move, it's saying a lot more about her bravery than it did about Jim's last year.

I like that something about this story manages to back that idea up perfectly.

And I loved the confrontation on the roof - how she wasn't afraid to cry, and he wasn't afraid to tell her...and how she said she's not going anywhere

Gives me some hope after all. ;)

Can't wait, at all, for an update - I loved the first two chapters, and I adored this one, and I know for a fact that therefore I'm going to want to worship subsequent chapters. ;)

Summary: Past Featured Story

Pam and Jim decide to get it out of their system...Literally. This idea just wouldn't get out of head, especially after all the fight fics, I figure there has to be another way to get rid of the sexual tension- why not actual 'casual' sex. Oh and it's going to really backfire. P.S. This is way fluffier than my usual stuff AND almost finished too. So there's that.

OK, no, no, no, no, no, no: even Jim, who was mad at Pam in The Negotiation, with ugly hair and yucky shirts and paleness and no ability to even prank Dwight - even this Jim cannot possibly prank Pam Beesly. It doesn't work that way, because a) he is in LOVE WITH HER, DAMMIT, and b) it goes against everything they stand for. If in the next chapter Jim decides to do it again, I may have to disown this story, and believe me, I don't want to be doing that because this is an unbelievably intriguing start for a story.

I loved the Jim in the first part, because he's being all cute and Dwighty, and I loved him in the end, because that is the S2!Jim that he's been hiding away for so long, and I loved it must be weird to say that to someone other than yourself, because that was below the belt but completely true...

...and still it made me want to slap Karen. I want her to leave, even if I liked her [I mean, she's pretty, funny, and it's not her fault she loves Jim] at first, because she's not getting it, and...she has to leave, pronto. She was great at first, but NOW. now. now...

Can't wait for an update!! I'll be waiting. ;)

Author's Response: So, what you're saying is that you don't want Jim to prank Pam?  I just wanted to be clear on that, because you were kind of wishy-washy there.  ;)

Reviewer: moofoot Signed
Date: April 16, 2007 Title: Chapter 4: You always paid for dinner

IT WILL HAPPEN, thank you, invis!!

I adored the Myspace and the heart-aflutter and I loved this chapter, too - Karen is not a bad person, she's just not the right person, and I think she's smart enough and strong enough to realise that what she and Jim has is going nowhere, because he is in love with Pam and will probably always be. [here I go again, with my stupid bias.] It's part of the reason I found her 'conversations' after The Return a little irritating and a little out-of-character - I don't think she's stay in that - but maybe it says something about the fact that Jim is Jim, after all - who can't love him? ;)

I like how you got her across, though - she's definitely not too understanding ["try not to kiss her in front of me"], but she's not a bitch, too, with the joking and the definite light-heartedness of it all. I'm prepared to bet, though, that she cried into her ice-cream while watching Bridget Jones' Diary. ;) She just wouldn't have done that in front of Jim. Finally it feels like she's back to being the Karen in Stamford again, the one I genuinely liked, and I love that you made it completely believable!

Anyway, I guess this sudden rush of updates probably means there won't be another for a couple of days. Ah, heck - I love this chapter and I can survive with this one. :D

Author's Response: Wow, thanks for the detailed review!  I'm so glad Karen came across the way I wanted her to.  I really don't want to hate Karen.  She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  And I think part of the reason she's been a bit bitchy on the show is that she has to deal with her jealousy over Jim's feelings for Pam, and try to ignore the fact that she'll never be the right girl for him.  That's gotta wear on a girl.  So I wanted to bring her back to a state of cool.  :)

Oh, lovely. I mean, I'm wincing, almost in tears because the serious kink here is that fact that when it all boils down to the basics, Jim seems to be...braver than Pam. And in this situation, Pam doesn't stand a chance [of being even braver, that is] because Lisa seems a genuinely likeable person, while Roy...well, back in season two I would've loved it when we could punch him.

But I can't wait to see where you go with this. The thought process you've got Pam having is absolutely brilliant and so in-character it's mildly unnerving, and I really can't wait to see how you've got this very same, cautious Pam doing things from here. If they kiss. What Jim thinks. What Jim does, because that will be freaking amazing to see if done right.

Especially in around four chapters? I know this'll be very good.

Very good. ;)

Can't wait for an update!!

I don't know why but I'm already in love with this story - maybe it's the Disney kid in me who sees a damsel in distress and Jim as the only one who can bring her out of that - but that doesn't make sense, but I'm pretty sure Disney movies don't mention rape victims...hmm.

Anyway, I love how you've described the Jim/Pam dynamic, how you've written Jan and Michael and even mentioned Toby, and most of all, Pam - pampampam. It's freaking heartbreaking, and

I love this story already, strange reasons! And I'm keeping track of it all the way through. All the way through.

Now I'm going to go cry and hope you make Jim/Pam take a step closer, right NOW, because she can't do any of this on her own. can she?

OK, I won't be crying, but I'll still be eagerly waiting a new chapter! Update ASAP. I am fully serious.

Still loving this - I liked Jim's perspective of the whole thing so far, and he still doesn't know what really happened!! And I'm still hurting for Pam. It's a fictional event happening to a fictional character but you get across the emotions and descriptions unbelievably well. :D

This is how she lived. [maybe it would have been better if she had died.]

Crap, you're making me cry.

This is unbelievably - touching - if that's the right word, I can't even think straight right now - I mean, for something that I know so little about, this has reached for my throat, pulled it out, wrapped it around my neck and made me cry - or at the very least it makes me feel like someone's been repeatedly punching my grief bone. argh.

I loved all of this, though, for every bit that it's making me feel sad - from her messages, to her support group [ashamed - amazing], to Jim, asking Toby, being called sinner - AMAZING. Brilliant. For something so Pam-centred you've got some brilliant character from the rest of the lot, too. And I adored it.

And the Pam...I can't even begin to describe how much I love her. And this horrible, horrible mess of feelings, it's so far from the Pam we know, but we still see exactly why she's acting like she is and being like she is and that's even more hard-hitting than it already is, so. whoa.

I can hardly wait to read more - so you'd better write more!! :P

I didn't cry when Albus freaking Dumbledore died, and my friends thought I was inhuman, because it seems everyone did, and I thought I didn't know how to cry about fictional things and characters but you've actually left me bawling, OK? It's brilliant, it's gorgeously written, and maybe it's also the fact that this is also unbelievably real - it's just - perfect. And it's basically ripping my heart out.

Hopefully you hand it back to me at the end of the story - so as hard as it is to write this [that's what I believe, anyway, because this is too achingly real to be written just like *snaps fingers* that], I want to implore you to please, please not stop it here - maybe giving it a happy ending [or an ending, at any rate, that's hopeful and happier, because that's it: i know it's fictional, and i know this is real, but sometimes keeping it fictional and giving it some hope makes it a billion times easier for the people reading it - and hopefully writing, it too?] --

argh, this story kills me every, single, time i read it. my punctuation has probably died, too.

can i say something, though? the way jim's reacting to it? it's - brilliant. it's freaking brilliant, and it hurts almost as much as pam hurts me, and it's - ARGH. i'm talking in circles.

and my punctuation has died.

i can't wait to read more, because this is brilliant, like i've sad - a lot. in circles. again and again and again

Finally. Not finally, an update, but finally, she's getting a break. I can imagine things will be much, much, so much easier if she has someone she can and probably will talk to, and it's just - I loved their moment near her car, and I adored her moment on her couch when she realizes it's not pity, and that moment when she realizes Jim is not a man of words but a man of action and he tells her he loves her without ever speaking. My God, this story continually moves me to near tears, but at the end of this chapter I finally got the strength to read the first six chapters properly, because at some points it felt so painful I couldn't read it all properly, and the whole thing is still incredible.

What I adore about this is that it's not melodramatic and overdramatic and it never reads like you want us to cry for her, and Jim; it's quiet and solemn and it's so incredibly Pam in that way, and that makes it hit harder than the melodramatic-story would ever be able to. And it's absofreakinglutely gorgeous, just as it kills you at the same time, and - I'm very, very glad that you've decided to continue this. I can't deal with stories that make me tearful and sad and never reveal an upward slope where you think hey - maybe this means something, and if you hadn't updated this...I don't know what I would do.

Anyway, I appreciate you doing this for us, and I'm going to have to be selfish and ask you to continue this amazing story, quickly. I can't wait for the upcoming interactions [or lack thereof] between Jim and Pam.

I'm sorry if this comes off making me look like a bumbling mess, by the way, but I'm going to blame it on the brilliance of this story.

Author's Response: Well, thank you moofoot!  I always get excited whenever I hear form you, you always leave such detail in your reviews, it's like a writers dream come true!  I'm glad that you could go back and read the hard stuff.  I completely understand why you would have skipped it, though.  I actually have a really hard time with this kind of stuff, and I refuse to watch movies or read books with rape scenes in them.  But thank you so much, you are a wonderful person!

I adore this, and I love how you've gotten The Client here so perfectly - from Jan and Michael leaving, to Superintendent [David] Wallace, to finding the Play [the dialogue for this was brilliant, I have to say], to Dweet and the beets, to firecrackers, to Jim and Pam's being along and eating together and leaving together and listening to music and swaying - argh, I love this.

I love Anne of Green Gables, and I love what you're doing with this. Roy Gardner [oh, God, you probably will introduce him - the likeness in name is too good to pass up, woe!] and wow, how about Jim telling Pam how he feels and her running away [wow] and Jim nearly dying - wow, never saw so many similarities before. It's kind of awesome.

OK, now I can't wait even more. :P Hurry up!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks for the in-depth review, I appreciate it! The play was very fun to write, and I tried to think of some Freudian things for Michael to write about. I've got several more chapters planned (and you KNOW I have to use Roy). I'm cranking out about a chapter a week, so I'll keep plugging away.
Thanks again for reviewing, i'm so glad you like it!

Oh please please please make Jim come back - to her, that is. I don't care if you veer off the tracks of the book - don't get him sick, don't break their hearts, and dammit, just kill Karen and Roy, noone cares. :P

I am so involved in this story it's ridiculous.

Author's Response: Oh, I'm sorry, I have to drag it out so it's so much the better when Jim comes back! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

You owe me orange juice. I don't think it's drinkable if it went through my nose and all over the desk near my keyboard. Bloody hell. [it cleared up the sinus, though.]

And that would totally be win-win-win.
I am never hearing that line the same way again.

SO freaking fantastic!

fuck, how could she still marry that dorkface of a doofusbrain of a MONKEYHEAD of AN IDIOT WHO NEEDS TO LEAVE THIS STORY RIGHT NOW?!

Don't get me wrong - I freaking love this story, because it's half on the lines I was expecting after Casino Night - Pam needs a friend, Jim is a friend, and the friend, that can help her. Of course, because Jim was there, I guess she didn't understand the pain of not having him nearly as much as she would've understood if Jim had really left, on bad terms - so I like that you got that in.

But still, I'm unbelievably mad at both of them, because Jim: Pam DID make the biggest mistake of her life x infinity, and Pam: YOU ARE IN LOVE WITH THE MAN WHO THINKS YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

Oh, dear - I think I'm going to be typing in caps a lot when I'm reviewing this story. Be prepared - I get very...passionate about my 'ships. ;)

Can't wait to see when she ditches the moron and gets with TheGoodGuy, who is ABetterGuy than the Jim on the show because he chose to realise that what he did was just a big shitty. :P

Seriously - get to writing!
