Until then, as much as I would love to, I can't [...?], and therefore Jim and Pam will be all you get.

What the hell?! How the bananas can both Pam and Jim pretend that they can't be together, especially after all of this?!?!

oh, god. they are incredibly dense. and they're idiots.

If Jim hooks up with someone, though, I'm going to cry. I want Pam to leave Roy on her own, not because she feels jealous or because she needs another woman to be her catalyst.

Either way, I'll probably be read every bit of this - even though I may be considering yelling and tearing my hair out at frequent points in every chapter, let alone the whole story. :P

Can't wait for an update!

Author's Response: Well, that's just it, isn't it, they're pretending...they are dense, but it's not like we don't know them very well that way already.

Jim spoke first. “Jesus, Pam…” She stood with her back to him and addressed Michael as if Jim had not made a sound…as if Jim did not exist. It was the only way.

I don't know why I haven't reviewed for this story before - but then again, you can take it as a compliment - if I haven't given a monster-review for a story, it's either because I love it so much I can't even start being intelligible about it, or I absolutely loathe it - and I assure you you're closer to the former category. ;)

Absolutely brilliant. I loved this chapter - Jim's perspective, and the if p, then q, and by far one of the most amazing things I have ever seen:
Phantom bruises, he thought. She was always giving him phantom bruises.
because that is - perfect Jim/Pam.

Actually I love so many things about it that I couldn't possibly begin to say all of it - but keep writing, because I'm drinking all of this in and loving the whole thing to bits. :D

Author's Response:

wow thank you! I'll try to keep doing what I'm doing ;-) keep reading and let me know how you think it's going.

you are my sweetest downfall
i loved you first

I adore the song. I love that you've brought a story out of it, with what is fast becoming a favourite couple, and ANGELA.

And it works, too, the song - i loved you first - which one? I can't even begin to express how much I love that you used Samson for a story you can use it so well for. Amazing.

I also loved the use of Noelle as a separate character to tell her story - wonderful! She keeps up that narrative, but sometimes the strong opinions expressed at times, they give it away, and I loved that you got that across. closer than sisters - of course.

And the people she's with, they're all distinctive and brilliant and they show Angela for Angela Martin, perfectly - from Jeremy to Ryan, to David the Jew to Dwight the Atheist - and I'm freaking in love with your story for Dwight/Angela, actually, because people don't write them enough, and the people that do - there's more dialogue than descriptions and feelings and beginnings, and while I love the dialogue, this...this is amazing. Awe-inspiring.

Possibly one of my favourite fics, ever, let alone one of my favourites for Angela [/Dwight]. I love this. To bits. And I'm going to read it again.

OMG, I LOVE THIS. I'm already feeling unbelievable amounts of hyper because I just rewatched the scene for the first time in three days because my computer wasn't working, and I'm also hyper because I cut my hair short, and I'm also hyper because I'm listening to old songs like The Twist and ShBoom and I'm also hyper, I think, because I may be channeling Kelly, or DRUNK.

But how much do I love this?! Unbelievable amounts. The high! The drunkenness! I can just imagine him grinning so much his teeth freaking hurt, and calling Pam in his high and being nuts and saying only the girls I like-like, and saying Pam? five or six times, and going i'm going to kiss you, akjslkdajsd can I kiss you? asdjaklsdjals and it's just - wow. And the Mark and hee, the Lisa, and the Mark!! I adore this, so much. I can't even begin to say how much I love this. And adore this. And want to hug this and hug Jim and hug Jim.

I'm grinning so much I'm going to break my face.

He is so drunk. Thank you for writing this and posting this because ajskldasjkdlasjdklajsld - YES.

Author's Response: Awwww, I'm not the only one rewatching that scene at like 2 in the morning! Yay! Thanks so much for the review, I'm so glad you liked it. =D!

OK, OK, OK, OK [/Kelly] I hadn't read this at all because I was overseas [and dying of starvation] 'till last morning but I came on MTT and I noticed THIS and I read everything in about forty-five minutes and I am in love. Seriously. This is - amazing. There's no Dunder Mifflin but the characters are all there and I'm so, so in love with this, and the - everything

AND I LOVE THAT YOU'VE POSTED 14 CHAPTERS in EIGHT DAYS. You are made of more awesome than this story. OK?

OK.

Anyway I love the JAM - first of all, Pam, because I like to believe that even if she'd never met Jim, she'd have enough sense not to go with it.

And Jim - I wouldn't at all be entirely surprised if he divorced Karen? AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT? And that would fit perfect, too, because they may be able to work for a while, but they're also not the kind of couple who'd be able to work long-time - they're too similar but they're different too.

And finally, raunchy? Bring on your worst [or best, asjdskjal] because your smut is some of my favourite smut, and I love this story, so favourite!smut in love!story would be all kinds of amazing. :P

Alright, now that I'm sure I've scared you senseless, I'm going to go read this again, or something.

Still. I loved this chapter, anyways, especially since it's got me all undecided.

Oh, God - you know I was pretty certain I was getting sick of seeing post-Job fics everywhere, but this - I love this. Perfect characterisation, especially Jim's thought process - he was tired of waiting was brilliant, because that's exactly the reason Jim went back to Pam immediately - there's about four, five years of pining between them? And that's more than enough. I love it.

And also, that map? The most amazing thing ever. Heart-shaped Pam saying I want you here just got me a little more in love with Beesly - and I'm pretty full of love [TWSS] already. I adored the drawing, too. :P

OK, I have to read this again. Can't wait for an update!

Love this, of course - you have a writing style that's unlike nearly everyone else's here, and it's just exuding a quiet, lovely feel of things, and it's amazing. I also adore what you write, not just how you write it - saying Jim dips his head [which fits better than any word I've known - why haven't I seen that used as a description before?!] and she nods - that's the perfect way of describing things. And how they smile and thank each other and there're favours.

Love this. Seriously. We hope, too. A lot.

I love this - it's not just the idea that they pass their days in the office thinking of their future together, because there they're allowed to dream [if only to save themselves from boredom and falling asleep], leaving and forgetting those dreams, and coming back the next day and have the same thing happen all over again. It's not just that - it's the amazing descriptions and the way everything flows and melds together. It's the right amount of hope and happy and some sad, which is closer to Season 2's dynamics than S3's, which I missed. I love this! I adore this, I really do.

Awesome, amazing, gorgeous story. :D

Author's Response: Thanks so much. I went back and forth for awhile on whose perspective I wanted the daydreams to be in... and then I realized that it would be more effective to have them imagining very similar things. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

This was amazing, by the way. I love what you've got of Pam's voice, here - that constant, nagging feeling, reminding her this is Jim, this is Jim - and I adore that you don't just point out different things between Roy and Jim, but things that are slightly similar - the nose-smushing, for one. And I loved her knowing him, what she knew of him, what she didn't, what he makes her feel when telling her how he feels. Your writing style is lovely and so Pam at the same time, I love it. eck, I can't get over how well you've gotten her.

See I've had a problem since watching the ending episodes of season three - I can no longer read the fics about happy-ever-afters before those episodes happened, because I want her to grow up and be what she is now, all Fancy and New, and I want Jim to realise what he is with and without her on his own, and anything before those, it just seems like cheating the characters now, you know? But somehow I love this. It's - perfect. I can deal with this

Write more while you wait. Argh, it's still a day and a half away!

I don't think I've ever told you how much I adore this story, but I do. OK? Just...know that. Because I freaking love/adore this and when I see a new chapter up I start grinning and just loving it. All of it.

I loved this chapter, and I can't wait for the next one! The one thing I felt like pointing out and mentioning [the only reason I'm reviewing now, maybe, instead of lurking] is how much I love that all of Pam's BeachSpeech took place over nearly forty seconds in the show, and maybe there weren't so many gaps between what she said, but this is so perfect in that it's so long, because it just fits, you know? No doubt Pam was thinking at a mile a minute and with that kind of adrenaline rush it's not a surprise if she thinks a billion things at once, about the past and possible futures and things, and I love that. It's certainly something I would do, considering the kind of person I tend to be. Like her, I mean.

Can't wait, I'm telling you. Angel and Devil's commentaries to the entire Imaginary Assistants to the Secret Assistant to the Regional Manager thing is going to be marvelous. And and and I'm going to love to see how much she acknowledges that she mentions Jim in every. single. talking head of hers and how she's just accepting things, even if she knows she may not want to, and - the last two episodes of the third season made me fall a gazillion times over for Pam Beesly, Fancy and New and Shiny, and seeing how amazing you've done for Beach Games, I'm convinced the one for The Job will be freaking brilliant.

Author's Response:

When I started writing fanfic, which was just a couple weeks ago I told myself that I was doing it just for fun, and for myself. That said, I can't surpress my grin at reading your awesome review! And now...to two of your points.

1. I'm really glad you liked the memory digression I put in Pam's Speech (first time they met, 5-5-05, the Unicorn pendent). It seems to me, that Pam and Jim are so tangled up in the past, that any movement in the present and future would necessarily conjure up memories. Not to mention, like with the Unicorn pendant, I think Jim represents a support that she's never had outside her family, and so she misses him. So I squeezed all of that in.

2. Next chapter, "The Job", should be a mixture of the lightheartedness of the first two chapters, with a bit of the angst of the last two chapters. You're completely right on the talking heads, and those, along with a couple other key things seen on camera, will make up the chapter. Is she really accepting of Jim leaving? is she just saying that to the camera? We'll see....Either way, thank you so much for your awesome review, moofoot, I really appreciate it.

Damn it. Every. Single. Time. Every single time, this story kills me. Thank you for putting this back up, because when I realised you took this off I felt a little sad, because you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone they paved paradise and uhm. So good.

I'll have a better review the next time I read it, y'know, a couple of weeks, or days.

Will you be putting The Time Machine back up? Because that may not have been as hot as this and Open, but I kind of adored it for all that it was. I can even remember little things from it, like My Valentine, that poem about racism, and other things which I can't believe I remember better than the smut, but there's me for you.

Author's Response: Hi moofoot!  I am so touched that you remember The Time Machine so well!  Unfortunately, no, that one's not coming back.  It never made as much of a splash as Open or Vanilla, but I have a soft spot in my heart for it, and I'm hoping to rework it into something else.  Thanks so much for remembering it!

Because it's all LJ and we're allowed to have comment-threads of nonsense -
OK, you know what, you're right, you probably wouldn't get much of a job if you're drunk, drugged and dead. Or maybe it's because you're not on drugs that you have a problem, here. [If you want drugs, there was this man at Poor Richard's selling 'em, and he says he works at a paper company. Old guy, balding, and he looks kind of insane? You may know him.]

Or just get your shit together and try to look happy, or something. One day you may end up having to act all the time, you never know. Better start training now.

Author's Response: Wait, that sounds like...Uh, never mind. Thanks for the tip. As for getting my shit together, I\'d have to have a damn good reason to pretend to look happy...

Oh, man, you depress me. I hear there's an opening somewhere in Cumberland Mills? Come on. Better pay, and soft-shell crab, and who doesn't want either of those? Think about it. You're not going anywhere here.

If not, at least use that against Dwight in some way.

Author's Response: Haw. That\'s funny. I can barely bring myself to type this, and you want me to print out a resume, send it, follow up with a phone call, schedule an interview, and then try and sell my qualifications for another job in the paper business...Dude. What\'re you on and can I have some?\r\n\r\nWait...Holy shit, I think I just laughed out loud for the first time in three months.\r\n\r\nWow. Thanks.
