Btu seriously, I thought what made Casino Night such a turning point, (or the reason S2 Jim!Angst was easier to take than S3 Pam!Angst, was that in S2, they still pretended there wasn't anything between them. But Jim 'broke the rules' when he told Pam how he really felt, and S3 was so hard to take because both their hearts were out there on the table. Ouch.

Oh, lis, this is so beautiful. I love how the change in emphasis, along with the context, and the slight changes in the wording changes the whole meaning of the sentence -- such an inventive way to follow the progression of Jim's emotions.
I also really love this part: The things I liked about Karen, her quick wit, her warm smile, they were the things that reminded me of the girl I left behind, the one I really wanted. I love how you draw attention to the things about Karen that were like Pam, and how those were what Jim liked about her. (Karen can still be a great girl, she just wasn't the right girl.)

I know zippy about Japan, other than "Lost in Translation", but I do know how freaky it is to be immersed in another culture and not speak the language and how you become almost invisible.
At the risk of repeating myself, I like that Pam is learning to be more self-reliant and get comfortable with being uncomfortable and even a bit lonely. (How can you give yourself to another person if you don't know who you are?)
Major props for covering some new ground and new situations for Pam & Jim.

Yay! So much to love about this fic -- Jim having the guts to admit that he identified with Alex -- and that Roy got under his skin, and realizing he should talk to Pam about that house!
Yes, Jim is totally the goofy dog & basketball hoop in the driveway sort. And Pam has been in a relationship before -- she knows what she wants (now).

When we have to buy gifts for little ones, rarely do they stray outside the crafty/blocks/books arenas. Seriously, kids can make fun anywhere. Aww, so freaking adorable.
So true about kids not needing a bunch of that overpriced junk. Mine were entertained for hours yesterday by an empty egg carton and a bunch of circles cut out of old cereal boxes. And you should see them bowl with paper cups as pins. Loving this glimpse into everyday at Casa de Halpert.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Lisa...it hurt me too. I was reading aloud to test it and I was actually flinching. But it had to happen, and I had to try it, so...yeah. I\'m really glad you liked it. :) (And I noticed that length thing too...what is that? Sad thing is, I could\'ve kept up with this for a lot longer...oh cripes, YES, TWSS.) ;)

Yeah, there must have been some sort of knock-down drag out that took place off camera -- three seasons and who knows how many years of baggage doesn't just magically float away like a bad haircut.
The level of detail of where the mind goes when you're fighting is so realistic it kind of hurts a little. Nicely done, LC.
Interesting that this chapter is more than twice as long as the other fluffy ones. Hmm...
