"Jim, why don't you tell Pam how you really feel?"

Jim and Pam deal with the stuff that comes with being on a hit show...talk shows, radio call-ins, and press junkets. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but is that really the case? Watch as Jim and Pam deal with being in the public eye and under the thumb of manipulative network producers. The story is told through interviews, transcripts, web pages and photos.

Such a sweet and tender story. What a great interpretation of how Jim and Pam communicate after hours.

Best part: It was such an honest moment for both of them. And so true.

“Then when I did actually leave, it was because of you, too.”

Pam swallowed and looked down. He knew she felt guilty about that still, about her rejection that night in the parking lot that led him to Stamford.

“And when I came back again . . . all you.”

Author's Response: Thanks Alamos! Glad you liked it. It wasn\'t exactly fun to write . . . but it was necessary for me, especially after seeing Jim\'s expression in Did I Stutter, after Ryan gives him his formal warning. There is just something going on inside of Jim and I can\'t wait to see what happens with his character. Anyway, thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

What a wonderful dramatic heartbreaking chapter. I love how strong, yet vulnerable, Pam is in this chapter.   She is making Jim work for her love and respect. This story has just broken my heart -- but in a good way.

Author's Response: Thank you, Alamos! I\'m so glad you enjoyed this chapter. It was very difficult to write when my Jammy heart just wanted them to be together! Thanks for taking the time to review!

Summary: Yeah, we didn't get our proposal, and I was as upset as anyone else, but think about how bad it could've gone. Here are a few examples. These are meant to be as horrifying as possible, but hopefully in a fun way.

Great story -- just finished all three chapters. I hope there is more.

You did a great job of describing your town. I especially loved how they meet at the top of the escalator... very dramatic moment for both of them.   I visited London many moons ago and I loved the energy of the city and it appears that so does Pam.

The visual of Jim in a pub drinking a pint is hot!

And thanks for bringing Michael and Dwight for the ride.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review Alamos! \r\n\r\nI often get hung up on the \'Jim drinking a pint\' visual and find it hard to concentrate on much of anything else. Yummy!\r\n\r\nAnway, I am busy with Chapter 4 but won\'t get to finish it till next weekend as am off on a week\'s hols from tomorrow. Hope you like the next instalment. BA

What a lovely story. I think you summed up in three chapters Pam and Jim's love for each nicely. I especially loved the part when they are on the couch together.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I'm actually a little surprised that it only took me three chapters to tell this story and in some ways it does feel like it could have been extended further, but in the end I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thanks again!

Great beginning. I think it will be interesting to see how they communicate w/ the postcards.

Thanks for the quick update. I think you captured Pam's sadness and frustration wonderfullyl. I have this feeling this going to be a lovely heartbreaking story.

Thanks so much. I'm glad Pam seemed realistic, its hard getting into that mindset (and rather sad).

Thanks again!

Nice... another update.  These postcards are killing me.  I am glad that you choose to write the break up scene between Roy and Pam simple, yet powerful: There was talking, yelling, crying, screaming. There were times Pam wanted to take it back, take the easy way and stay with Roy.

Author's Response:

Yep, I really am going to try to keep the updates regular. Hopefully I can get another one up tomorrow before work.

Thanks so much for your comment about the break up scene. I really wasn't sure how to write that, as it seemed so unlike the Pam we saw in Season Two, Casino Night. The one who said she was staying with Roy. I didn't want either side to really be a loser, both of them I am sure were upset about the loss of he relationship, and I am sure it was hard on both of hem

Friday night update, love it. I have the feeling that Jim is going to see the postcards. The tone of this chapter is so still, quiet and sad. I think it fits exactly the way Pam would be feeling right after. I think it's totally in character with Pam to keep her secrets to herself. That's why the postcard thing works because it is so anonymous. So Pam.

Author's Response:

Friday Night is for fic. Pity the people who have real lives and don't realize that.

The thing I love abou PS is it is anonymous, so you still feel you ave a secret all to yourself, but, you still feel better because you've said it outloud.

I love your reviews and that you are still enjoying this!

This story is just breaking my heart, in all the right ways. I loved how he carried the image of Pam's postcard w/ him everywhere. Like he was carrying Pam's heart w/ him. Keeping in character w/ Jim, I loved how he took a chance by replying w/ the post-it. The boy is always putting himself out there for her. I think responding to her using HER card was a great way of her seeing it.

Author's Response:

Alamos, totally start to love getting your reviews. I probably was putting myself into Jim's shoes a bit, or Jim into my shoes, whatever. Because I've seen some secrets that mean a lot to me, and have saved them, and think of them often. And none were as close to the significance of the wedding one!

With the post it, its like, I figured Jim needed to do something. But I just don't think he was ready to call or take that big of a chance (ie what if it really wasn't Pam's card, and he called her on her honeymoon!), so the return secret would put the ball back in her court so to speak. And I also figured Jim would reply using her card. I honestly never hought of it another way.

Reviewer: Alamos Signed
Date: June 19, 2008 Title: Chapter 6: Edge Of Something Big

This story reminds me of a U2 lyric "A secret is something you tell another person." from "The FLY.  I think that is applicable to this story.

Even though this chapted is filled w/ Pam's sadness about Jim leaving, she still believed that she could move on. Until she saw Jim's response to her postcard. I think Pam's "hope" of moving on was reasonable at the time, and then Jim's response crushes the hope just a little. So typical of the characters. Just when they think they can get on w/ their lives w/o each other, something happens. Off to the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Can't place that song, but I may have to go listen to it, because it seems right for this story.

I figured Pam probably needed to believe she could move on. I'm sure it was heartbreaking, but it was like, even afer she sent off her postcard, she probably never thought anything would come from it. And, just she needed to move on, because Jim had. And then she sees the postcard.

One of the things that I love about this story is that you are able to convey character descriptions w/ such simple, specific and exact words. Which I love. Like this:  Kevin giggled, Angela glared, Stanley sighed. This is exactly how these characters act.

I am looking forward to the conversation between Pam and Jim.

Author's Response:

Wow, and here I thought that was just laziness. ;). Really, I can't see it any other way, if it gets longer, it feels boring to me, so the short works.

And I was a bit evil by putting off the conversation until he end hehe!

Reviewer: Alamos Signed
Date: June 21, 2008 Title: Chapter 8: Doesn’t Know It Yet

What a perfect ending, to such a sweet story. Again I think the simplicity of the words you choose is strong and powerful: The silence felt uncomfortable, a new feeling for them both. Without having to elaborate you set the tone of the start of their conversation.

Also I think it was nice that you did not drag out the inevitable to them getting together.

Author's Response: Aww, Alamos, I love everything your reviews choose to be. They rock. I don't think I would be able to handle anything more drawn out than what happened. It would feel fake. I don't think it was an immediate "yay we're together and birds and butterflies and rainbows and everything happy" but, they had to admit that there was obviously feelings for each other, and sort of go from there.
Thanks so much for everything :)

Holy Hotness Fanfic Writer... this is awesome. Thank you for doing such a great job of describing how I feel, I mean Pam feels. I love when Jim says "shit" it just adds to his hotness.

This was so perfect, great visual: When he raised his arms above his head to put a dish back in a high cabinet I couldn’t reach, I’d covertly watch his t-shirt rise up to reveal a narrow strip of irresistible skin above his jeans.
