Oh this was great! Especially the end - lovely in its simplicity within a complicated situation, and Karen's speech felt very character, very understanding of a girl who's obviously given up and doesn't want to hate anyone. You really shouldn't hate anything about this! I think your rules were very effective.

Aw, that was lovely and sweet! Happy Jim and Pam with a solid future are so cute, and I love Karen still being close with them and happy for them and helping Jim pick out a ring. This was a perfect ending!

That was a nasty place to leave us hanging! But it's cute so far.

What did Mr. Wonderful do today? -- Hmm, methinks Jim's going to be privy to some very interesting stories about himself!

Author's Response: You would certainly be correct, dear Semby!!  Thanks for the review!  Chapter 2 will be coming soon....

Ooh, I *knew* Karen had done something nasty like that! Very exciting and I can't wait to find out what Jim does with this new information!

I was, however, a little confused in the conversation between Karen and Jim about the upcoming dinner. I wasn't sure how much Karen had told him in advance - since she said she told him on Wednesday that they were coming, and told him to pick her up in the morning so they could leave early to go to dinner - but Jim says that she should have consulted him first. So was he just not listening, as she said, or did she really not tell him that they were going to dinner with her parents?

Author's Response:

Sorry if that confused you.  It really was a bit of both - Karen did NOT make a big deal about her parents coming, and she most definitely did not tell him about going to the restaurant at Lake Wallenapaupack because as Jim said, he WOULD have remembered that, even though it was true that he really wasn't listening on Wednesday.  I mean, her parents coming into town isn't necessarily a big deal to Jim, but had she said they were coming and they were going to a FANCY RESTAURANT so they could "meet" then that might have set off warnings that Jim would have mentioned.  Does that make it clearer?

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Semby!!

I'm starting to really get into the old chat room feel here - people making very natural typos or bad timing, finding it difficult to keep track of who's who in the room because conversation goes too fast - I'm starting to wonder if someone else in there is from the office too! Very curious about this Vexin...

I'm torn because I'm starting to feel a little squicky about Jim taking advantage of Pam not knowing its him to get all this information, but at the same time I'm *loving* seeing all the things Pam says when there's no fear holding her back. There's a wealth of honesty in there just dying to burst out in person!

And Jim's excitement over the virtual hugs was just the cutest thing ever :)

Aw, this was a cute chapter - I love them having a "date" over Miss Congeniality and Jim really starting to open up about *his* relationship woes... even if he's still got a long way to go to be totally honest! And it's nice to see them just getting along.

Karen has officially turned to the dark side. I guess this means Jim *won't* be making that visit to Pam's later in the day? Although I think they would be capable of keeping it quiet until Karen's gone...

Eeee! I love the crayons thing. So cute. Gotta say, Jim sounds a little girly saying periwinkle is his favorite color, but you gotta love that reasoning... :)

Oh, and I loved Dwight being supportive!

Aw, distant!Pam is making me sad... I hope we find out what's wrong (and Jim fixes it) soon!

Oh, gosh, I don't much like Jim's idea about not telling her the truth and just letting Squirrel disappear. I'm if she doesn't know already, she'll be pissed when he tells her, but that's gotta be better than her finding out some other way...

And, whoo, Pam, getting flirty! How's he going to handle this picture thing, I wonder?

Cutest squirrel photo ever!!!

Oh, man, the extent of Jim's lies are going from bad to worse! He's made Squirrel a person! With a face! And a whole name! He's screwed when the truth comes out. Oh, what a tangled web we weave...

Very interested in Pam being interested in sex talk with Squirrel! Though I wonder if Jim would really be able to go through with it, knowing that Pam thinks he's someone else...

Pam certainly doesn't respond well to being told that she should really think about what she wants and not let opportunities just pass her by, does she? Poor girl. I hope this doesn't stop they're chatting sessions, unless it means that he starts talking to her *as Jim* more...

Oh, fun chapter! It was good to see them happy and getting along so well after the end of the last chapter. Although I kind of missed the chatting and am curious about how it's going to go the next time Pam has a run in with SMcP. I'm also very curious about whether Pam was explicitly hinting to Jim that she knows with those squirrel drawings, or if she just happened to have Mr McPants on the brain and didn't have a Jim connection in mind...

And I absolutely believed you that asparagus was a real Crayola color, but I went to check the website anyway just to see what specific shade of green it is, and I got to COLOR! Virtually! It was so fun! /random tangent.

Eeeee! Go Pam! How long has she known, I wonder? Still, she just seems like she wants it out in the open, not like she's *mad*, but who knows... Jim's definitely still got some 'splaining to do! How's he going to handle this one??

Reviewer: Semby Signed
Date: April 22, 2007 Title: Chapter 15: No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be

That went way better than I'd expected/hoped! I love that Pam's understandably mad, but not absolutely furious and unwilling to hear his side. Honestly, how could she stay mad with him telling her he did it because he loves her? She'll be putty in his hands after breakfast. Awwww!

Aw, they're so on the right track. And I can't wait to see Jim paying his penance, and how the other IRCers respond to his confession! :D

Who does Pam think she's fooling? There's no way she's not going to dinner with him! I think at this point the punishments are more for the fun of it than real anger :)

Author's Response:

I think at this point the punishments are more for the fun of it than real anger :)

You are very, very wise.  ;-)

Aw, both of these chapters left me hurting! Ryan and Karen, because yay for them, but I can't help thinking about poor Kelly. And, ouch, chapter two, I thought they were getting somewhere positive but then Jim drops that bombshell about why he gave up and it's actually kind of true... (or maybe not, and Pam will prove him wrong?) - because we've definitely seen that he's absorbed more of her than she has of him - mixed berry yoghurt and the teapot prove that, and we haven't seen many similar gestures from her end. I'd never even thought about that before! So sad.

Author's Response: Read Hole in My Pocket to get some Ryan/Kelly resolution (I wrote it before this story, so this is kind of a prequel).  I think its hard to tell what's going on in Jim's head... I can't tell if he knows that Pam likes him or not so I thought I'd write something a little different.  Hope you liked it!

Oh, lovely ending! I loved Jim and Pam's talk in all its honesty and sweetness. And Jim's question/Pam's answer about when she knew she'd fallen in love with him made me swoon in all its Austeny goodness!

Author's Response: I actually stole that line directly from the book. Glad you liked it!

I'm normally reluctant to read and enjoy crossovers, and I was pretty hesitant at the idea of Elizabeth Bennett in modern times, but you've made my doubts disappear! This is great so far (Liz's wit and sass was ahead of her time anyway, so it actually works really well). Looking forward to seeing where this goes! Wonder if we'll be seeing the letter's contents or just Jim's reaction...

Author's Response: I totally understand. I was reluctant to write it for the same reasons. But I'm glad you liked how to it turned out.

Summary: Does anyone bother writing a summary for a 5 Things fic? What's the point?  I mean, it's pretty much all there in the title, isn't it?  So I'm just going to fill this space.  Cantaloupes.

Author's Response: Thank you, it is so nice to hear that you think it had a quiet simplicity!  I know that I love those types of stories and it's so flattering that you think mine was like that too!

Oh, this was really sad and lovely. And I love the way you used the lyrics - normally in song fics when there's whole chunks of lyrics I just skip over them but a line decorating it here and there was a nice touch.

Author's Response: Thank you! I was hoping the lyrics spread throughout would set a certain tone. I'm glad you liked it!
