I loved this.  And again, I forgot all about the five elements until the end.  I'm amused by how freaked out Pam is by eating trout.  Really?  *smirks*

Author's Response: I'm so glad - 1) that you loved it and 2) that you forgot about the elements. :)  Pam might not be the one freaked out about the trout - it's more likely me.  ;) I was at a dinner once and there was this lovely looking salad.  What I assumed was slices of chicken was actually smoked trout and I have never been the same since.  LOL!!!   Also - I might be that girl who pays so much attention to detail that she'd look up the fishing schedules for PA in cold weather months.  I just might.  Hee!

Wow, I can definitely see Pam being a bit shell-shocked after hearing that Jim's going to move in with Karen.   Karen's dialogue in that scene seemed just like her, too.  Oh, boy.  Pam's been avoiding him for three weeks??  She needs to step up to the plate.  Seriously.  (Of course, I've been saying this for the last five months.  ;)

Well, I'm interested in reading your next one, because your Michael here?   Holy hell, he had me in tears.  "On the down-low," oh my...

Karen seemed -- too happy/cutesy in this chapter, compared to the rest of the story.  I understand that the premise is she's moved on and it's a year later, but I couldn't see her squealing over the phone a'la Kelly.

Nonetheless --- I LOVE a happy ending.  Actually, I could totally picture Jim leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed, with his simple, "Yes, we are."  That got me thinking about what a hilarious storyline it will be if Jim and Pam ever do become engaged on the show.  Michael will be completely ridiculous, in the manner of your story, so that was just great.  More Michael, please.  ;)

Author's Response:

About Karen's happy/cutesy - she's just gotten back from a completely successful second date with a guy she knows she's lucky to get, and from personal experience, when this happened to me, the first thing i did after he closed the door and i heard his car out of the driveway - the first thing i did was flop onto my bed and call my best friend, and I did sound like kelly. -_-;;;...i agree, though, it was a calculated risk to have her so kelly-esque, but at the same time I personally can see her caught up in the moment with this great guy, calling pam and letting herself squeal a little bit.

while we're on the subject of karen noises - remember "call of duty!"? i can safely say that i personally did not think karen ever capable of something as amazing as that, but there it is. =D...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???  You're going to end here.  I hate you. [/Pam]  Seriously, though.  Methinks Jim is in a load of trouble.

I have to say, though --- IRC!!!  OMG, the memories.  I haven't been on IRC for a really long time, but every now and then I have an urge to use the prompts, like, /me laughs hysterically.   *smirk*

I can't wait to see where this goes.  Ha!  People are so different online than they are in real-life.  And "Mr. Wonderful???"  O.M.G.  I can't wait to see where this goes.

Author's Response:

hehe - don't punch a wall!!  I'm working on Chapter 2!  Yes, you are very insightful, GreenFish.  He might find out some things he wants to hear, but something tells me he's going to hear some painful stuff too.  And he'll deserve every bit of it!!

Thanks for reviewing - it means a lot that you like it so far!!

Seriously, I squealed so many times reading this you wouldn't believe.  Maybe it hits close to home knowing the difference between being online and being yourself in real life, but I think you did a really good job capturing that "line" between them.  And Jim -- with this new-found knowledge!  OMG.  I can't wait to see what happens.  Write more soon!!

Author's Response: I am SO very happy to hear that you think the chat stuff is still sounding true to Pam.  It makes me feel more confident in writing the next chapters!  I hope to have more up soon - definitely in a day or so!  Thanks for the encouragement, GreenFish!!! :-)

Mox, I just want to tell you that this story is making me FREAK OUT.  I am so nervous about what's going to happen!  You're turning my stomach in knots; it's like I'm in high school all over again.  Why is this?  I don't know... but I can't wait to see the fallout of Jim's actions.  And yes, if Pam talks to him, there's going to be some trouble in paradise, because Karen's going to assume that Jim's already told her about them breaking up!  OMG!  DRAMA.  I don't know if I can handle this.  What have you gotten our boy into??

Moxie, I am literally FREAKING OUT here.   I can't believe it, some people on OT gave me hints that she might know but I can't believe she knows and OMG WHEN WILL THE NEXT CHAPTER BE UP??   (You rock so freakin' much.)

The end.

I enjoyed seeing how that little 'cliffhanger' really tied out there.  Your Jim is so open and loving and just effuses with love for Pam.  It's amazing.  And Pam -- suspicious, hurt, amused, mad, I love her in this chapter.  I really feel that, even though this story is Jim-central, you've really latched onto her and given us a sense of her perspective without changing from Jim's viewpoint.  I love that Pam is afraid to believe what Jim's feelings really are, and then doesn't know what to do once she finally has what she's been looking for!!

I also enjoy how you're able to balance the flow of the conversation in the IRC chat with Jim & Pam's private convos.  It's completely realistic to how it would go.  Question:  is there actually a #love_stinks channel?

Also... you definitely win points for having Dwight do the background check on Matt ... LOL.  I could definitely see that happening.

Author's Response: That's such a great compliment, thank you! I love ensemble fic, and I'm glad I made you laugh since that's what I was going for ;)

Ahhhh LOVE.  This was so great, you did such a fantastic job showing the contrast between Roy and Jim!  I love the tenderness mixed with a desire to feel that Pam has -- she wants Roy to feel, but he doesn't -- he won't take down those walls, but Jim -- he's just Jim, he's that open book and yes, it hurts, and that's just -- so double-sided, that phrase.  Very nice job.

Author's Response: Wow, I'm so glad that what I had intended to show actually did come across because I was beyond worried that it wouldn't.  I appreciate the review!  Thanks!

I really liked this story.  I heard someone mention the "turn right" comment on TWOP, and now that I've read it, I got it, and... wow.  One comment:  Jim doesn't drive a red Corolla anymore.  I don't know when exactly he got a new car, but during "Traveling Salesman" we saw him driving a silver Audi sportwagon.  It's not a big deal, but it was distracting to me, because I am a dork.

I really liked this, though.  I think you captured Karen really well.  I liked the bit about her never letting Pam do a prank with Jim again, too.  (How much do I think that's true now?  Seriously.)

Author's Response:

Oops, well, that just shows you how much I notice cars. I only knew his old car was a Corolla because he said it one time. I even rewatched Diwali to try to figure out what model Karen drove so I could write it in here, but I certainly can't tell, so I just went with the generic "SUV."

I'm glad you liked the prank line. I was going to write something about the possibility of a "6th" night of talks, but I think at that point Karen decided there was going to be less talk and more action.
