Ooh, good point, beruco. I couldn't put my finger on it, but yes, it did remind me of BI. Don't know if I hear this in Jim's voice, but it was spot on for the voice of one of the Hideous Men.
Author's Response: I wasn't too worried about Jim's voice because the only voice we hear is the public one that he's using to court Pam. We never hear his thoughts so after interviewing several guys about how a guy thinks this is what I got. If you want to see me trying to do Jim voice, please read my other story 'Attack of the Dress'.
Oh. my. This is just devilish. I almost missed this line: "We don't talk about this. You understand, right? I'm with Jim. Roy?" This is marvelously clever, all the subtle lines that add up to disaster. Nicely done.

He knows it’s clichéd, but he swears he can still feel the remnants of her touch from earlier, when she’d grabbed his arm playfully, giggling about wedding bands and making him forget the fact that he was leaving and she wasn’t his.

Well, of course, how could Pam resist Jim in his Casino Night outfit? Now I need a cold shower....
Pam begins to get used to the fact that Jim needs her advice on things whenever he and Karen fight.
"don't do it just to make her happy. Because she'll know...that you're not" That's RIGHT! Karen will see (eventually) that Jim's heart just isn't in it. Because it belongs to Pam and only Pam. Now, if she would just do something about it!!!

Oh jeez! (why do so many of my reviews start out that way?) This would be a great way to kick of February sweeps! I like the bit of assertiveness you've given Pam & how it is tempered by her own self-doubt.
OK, I won't hate you as long as you write some resolution! It is totally believeable that if Jim & Karen are still involved that Pam would put on the brakes in one form or another. But Jim has to know that he is fooling himself by trying to be with Karen. Soooo looking forward to the next chapter!!
OUCH! But I love that Karen gets this other important detail from yet another third party! (And your charcterization of Meredith is great!) Oh, I can only hope that sweeps are as promising as your fic!

You've got Karen now but her voice is lower and her hair is darker and she is in no way and every way like Pam: sometimes it just hurts too much.oh, this is painfully delicious.... love your use of metaphor and the interior monologue.

Oh yay (claps hands!) I would have LOVED to have seen the Jamaica trip -- and Michael does ADORE Jan with that little kid wonder in his eyes. And Jan is becoming one of my favorite characters -- she's so wonderfully messed up and you captured that very nicely!!
