Oh, the angst! I really liked the way you let Pam give in to what she had been feeling. Since you already went off canon, the story could continue! Does she chase him down? Go to his apartment? The possibilities!
Author's Response: I actually am working on a follow-up, but I'm not sure if I'll place it in this universe or do something else with it. The length is a lot shorter than this was and so it might be awkward to have a 3-4K word second chapter to a first chapter that was about 12k words (oops). There are definitely some canon elements involved from S3, but it definitely goes more off canon than this was. And I live for angst in both my writing and my reading, sooooo...it's there haha. Let me start off by saying that I am NOT Team Karen. The first time I watched the series I loathed her. I have come to accept her as a needed distraction for Jim to survive going back to Scranton.
So, with that said, I loved this story! I was going to pass right by because of well, Karen, but knowing this was set post Jim/Karen, I took a chance.
I loved the backstory of the French, the backstory of her competitiveness and a little peek into what Jim does on the weekends.
I LOVED the June 10th circled on the calendar! I’m gonna need you to write a story about that!

This was AWESOME! I have just always felt with the way Pam was so excited at the beginning of “The Merger” they had more contact than we saw. I imagine it would have been a late night drunken phone call/texting thing. Nothing like this but enough to keep her so hopeful and excited to see him. I cannot get enough ‘first date’ fics. They are my absolute favorite. I had been getting bummed because there had been nothing new on the site and BAM, along comes this story.
I LOVED It. I enjoyed how the first chapter was third person followed by their two accounts of the first week. You nailed everything: (TWSS) their banter, how I envision them feeling, right down to what I imagine they would have said to each other when finally getting to say what was in their hearts.
