Yay we're up!I have not done anything in regards to setting up the categories and genres as yet, because sorting gives me a headache. Please feel free to make suggestions, in fact, I insist!!
The current submission rules are the ones that came with the software. I would appreciate it if all authors could take the time to read through it, and give me their feedback on what needs to be added/deleted.
Lastly, I would love it if a couple people would be able to come on board as co admins to assist me with setting things up, and the daily running of the archive, although I think it should pretty much run itself. I would prefer if the co admins were authors or very active readers. I need keen eyes to pick up the things I know I'll miss. If you want to help out, use the contact form to email me, or drop a comment on this news piece.
Yay!! Write some stories!

I would be happy to help as much as I can. I'm not terribly techie, but I would do anything else as far as helping out with the categories, screening, whatever you want to do!

Hi sicokitty! Great site! I'd be happy to help out in whatever capacity I'm needed, again with the caveat that I'm not terribly techie either.

Hey, it looks great!
With regard to categories, I would really, really recommend NOT using categories like "angst" or "fluff" or whatever - those are always really hard to use, and a lot of fics don't fit easily into those categories. I always think it's easier to just use the traditional fandom categories - so have a section for Gen fic and then have all other fics sorted by pairing. You could also have categories for crossover or alternate universe. I know that in this fandom, the vast majority of stories are going to be Jim/Pam, but I still think it's easier to categorize by pairing than it is by hard-to-use adjectives.
If you can cross-reference fic - so have them listed by a variety of special features (for instance, I don't know, holiday fic, or future fic, or missing scene, or post-episode), that would be awesome - but I sort of think this software (which I like a lot, by the way - I think Veronica Mars fandom is also using it) only lets you categorize fic as one thing or the other. And if that's the case, you really want the categories to be broad and distinct.
Anyway, that's my two cents. It's great you're doing this!

Ugh, sorry about the double post - I don't know what happened and I can't seem to delete it.
Anyway, I also didn't realize that you meant the site to be only Jim/Pam and not Office fic as a whole! Sorry about the misunderstanding. In that case, it makes categorization a lot harder. Good luck figuring something out!

yay!! sicokitty!!! This is fabulous! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
I'd be happy to help you anyway I can - just keep in mind that I'm now where near technically inclined. I would not have even had the slightest clue how to set this thing up. But you certainly rock for being able to!! Thanks again - and let me know what I can do. :)

The site's beautiful! As far as genres and categories: I think the genres used on ff.net are fine - they're just very broad. Some stories may cross genres (i.e. romance and angst), so those could always be "general". Personally, I would add "erotica" for the hot stuff. I think the categories are where we can really tell people what the story is about. I like Annakovsky's suggestions of Holiday Fic, Future Fic, Missing Scene, and Post-Episode. I would humbly add Prequel fic (anything that takes place before the TV series), Alternate Universe (for any story that starts in the middle of the series, then veers into AU territory - would include alternate endings to specific episodes), Road Trip or Field Trip (anything involving travel beyond the office building), Dream (dreams, daydreams, nightmares, fantasies). If we really want to have fun, we could have Silent Jim/Pam, Wet Jim/Pam, Drunk Jim/Pam, and my favorite possibility: Claustrophobic Spaces. Seriously, I love categorizing things, so let me know if you need help :)

nomadshan - I need to tell you, honestly - you continuously crack me up!! oooo! Claustrophobic Spaces. Oh - the possibilities. ;) Though I'm only a fan when it's done really well and in character - I second a "Smutty Stuff" category
Hmmm. That seems to go hand and hand w/Claustrophoic Spaces ;) sicokitty - question. When I go to account info I don't see the add story option. Not that I'm adding anything yet...just curious and I'm wondering if it's just that I'm blind or if it's not working?

Wonderful site sicokitty! I'll be happy to help out in whatever way I can. In regards to categories I like all the ones suggested so far. "Claustrophobic Spaces" - nomadshan, that's awesome. I also like the idea that the categories be more specific. Wet Jim/Pam - now there something we need more of.

Sicokitty, I've read lots of fics so I'd certainly be happy to help classify them. I do agree that "angst" & "fluff" are probably not the greatest classifiers, but I do think that for Jim/Pam fic, which is going to be the bulk of what we will have here, we need to break it down beyond General rating. I like the idea of having holiday fic, birthday fic, missing scene, set in the future, Jim/Pam married, Stamford fic,... to at least give some guidance.
