A Few Additional Precisions About the New Submission System

1) It doesn't change anything as far as how you submit stories. You still click "Add Story" and submit. The only difference is that it goes to a queue for the mods to review before it is added to the "Most Recent" page

2) We're not making this change to interfere with what people want to write; the goal is not censorship. You can still write whatever pairings or genres of stories that you want provided they fall within the guidelines that have always been in place in this archive.

3) We are NOT trying to make it an archive for a select crowd, norĀ  do we want to discourage newbies. In fact, we are wanting to make this a more pleasant and welcoming place for all to come and read or share their writing. What we are trying to avoid are stories that are poorly formatted making it really difficult to read, look untouched by a spell checker, or look put together in 5 minutes. A systematic review also gives us the chance to ensure spoiler warnings are present, and that proper ratings and labels are applied.

I hope this clears up some questions.

Quick question - when we submit a story/new chapter, will it take longer to show up publicly on the site?

Whoops sorry! Question was answered in the first sentence of this post! ;D

Anyway--I think it's a great system and a perfect way to organize the fanfic! Great work/idea!

I'm so glad you decided to approve the stories before they're posted! I remember suggesting this a while back, but the mods didn't think it was possible because it would take a lot of time. But I'm really glad you decided to do it. It will definitely improve the quality of fic on the site.

What about stories that WERE put together in 5 minutes?  I know I've done that before.  To great fanfare, sadly.  Yeah, I'm just being an ass, as usual.

I'm new to this and I have a question. If I submit a chapter, how do I know it "took"? For instance, I've been having trouble with my internet today coming in and out today(damn satellite) and I tried to post a new chapter. It looked like it "went", but now on my story it doesn't show a new chapter even in my account. I thought it didn't go through, but I've done it twice more and it still doesn't show up on my account. I understand it has to be read before it can be posted, but is there some way I can tell if it has been properly submitted? When I posted the first chapter, it showed up in my account before it was added to the site. Sorry if I'm being dense. Also, can I submit another chapter before the previous one has been approved if I get done with it? Thanks.

This is an excellent idea, and one that most sites have in place in some form. I was wondering, though, how long validation takes? If we are a new author and submit a story, who long will it take to appear, provided it's acceptable?
