Spring Cleaning in the Fall!

Like Michael Scott, we like to do our spring cleaning out of season!  The administrators have noticed that a lot of fics are miscategorized, missing labels, missing disclaimers, and so on.  Thus, to make sure that stories are well classified and easily available to readers, we will be doing a bit of cleaning up in the next few days.

Authors, to make our lives even easier, it would be greatly appreciated if you could take the time to verify that your stories meet the criteria outlined in the submission rules.  We will only be modifying tags and other header information on stories which do not meet those standards.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about this, feel free to email us.

Thank you,

The Cleaning Patrol aka The MTT Administration Team

Is there any way to submit a story without specifying the category? There are some stories which would be spoiled if people read that it was, for example, a Roy/Oscar slash, or a Pam/Michael story. All the surprise would be gone. While I totally agree that the ratings should be retained to protect the innocent from *cough* corruption, I'm not sure that genre and category classifications are absolutely necessary. Convenient, yes, but necessary, no.

My two cents...

Categories and subcategories are required. If the surprise is in your characters, you could tag a story with one character's name and "Other". Remember that people only see the meta-data of your story is they're browsing your author page. More often than not, the surprise is retained even when the story is fully tagged.

What nomadshan said.  I think you can certainly not add the names of all the characters, if you wish.  We need to maintain classification just for the sake of making this archive searchable, and because I also think readers have the right to know a bit what they are getting into (if they want to know.  I don't always look at the tags) when taking the time to read a story.
