A good IT guy, but definitely leaving some mines buried behind him between the intercom and setting up something that can do 90 percent of Pam's job.
This was fun! A nice bit of backstop for that moment that had now been entered into my headcanon.

Definitely enjoying the Dwight-Carl interaction... you've really captured Dwight's essence here, in all his paranoia and control issues and somewhat sinister intent towards his fellow employees and his grasping for power.

HA. EVERYTHING IS BRIAN'S FAULT. JUST LIKE IN SEASON 9. Kidding. Mostly.
I would actually love this as a YouTube series - IT professional goes around re-enacting terrible calls they've had to go on and explaining to the rest of us how to fix this or how not to screw it up in the first place.
Awww. Carl noticed Pam's sketches!

I'm really enjoying this - I always love a good "outsider-meets-Dunder-Mifflin" story.

Oh, this is very Office humor - and exactly how Dwight would handle this situation!

Uh oh. Looks like Carl's in for a bit of a day ahead of him. I'm not sure I want to know what DM-Scranton looks like if no one can operate their phones...

Okay, this definitely would drain some of the tension and poignance out of this episode... but it also makes 16 times more sense, and it's just artful enough to be both practical and comic. Good work, Carl. And I love Greg's "okay crazy lady" reaction to Pam... the DM crew must deal with that a fair bit when they're exposed to the outside world!

Hey DG-
This has been on my bookshelf for a while and I just began it. Having worked in lots of offices and then remotely with a dedicated IT crew I really appreciate the work you do and it's. Ice to see a story/series dedicated to it.
So far I'm entertained. But I really liked you choice for Jim to speak the famous last words in this chapter. “Nah, what’s the worst that could happen"
Good stuff so far

Your Tales from Tech Support series was the first series I read on MTT! I was learning how to navigate and didn't/couldn't mark it as read!
I really enjoyed it.

It was a simple as that all along, huh.
Fun piece. Left me satisfied and smiling.
Looking forward to more of the Tales from tech Support now on my bookshelf. Hoping there's one referring to Pam's Celebrity Sex Tape fetish.
Author's Response:
Well, it can be that simple for sure!
Im glad you enjoyed this!
Ill see what comes to me, I do work in IT so it's not as though I have a shortage of experiences to draw from for stories like this. I can't promise anything but I do hope I'll find a situation I feel like adapting in the future!
Thanks for your kind words!

Cute! I love these little slice of office life moments. I have somehow missed the Tales from Tech Support series, so I'm going to have to catch up! But I loved this and definitely wouldn't say no to more!
Author's Response: Thanks, glad to hear you liked it!

Good old Carl. Very Occam’s razor of him. This was a fun additional scene to that episode. I love the final line, no one can walk that delicate receptionist/office administrator line quite like Pam.
Author's Response: Carl is of course a caricature of me, and I like to live by the motto "Simple solutions for simple problems," so yes, he is. I'm glad you liked that last line, I was hoping it would land!

Aww. That is a nice little interaction. And yeah...don't do things like that to your coworkers Dwight or bye bye unsaved work.
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it!

Ah very relatable in the IT world. I love Pam's way of showing how her life has changed by saying, "it's Halpert now". Just a very real life moment, this was. I enjoyed it!
Author's Response:
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll be honest I wasn't trying to be deep with Pam's line, I just saw it as purely clerical, so I'm glad you got something more out of it.
Thanks for reviewing!

You'd think the whole, "turn it off and then turn it back on again," thing would be a little more intuitive at this point right? Still it's an elegant if simple solution. Nice to have another quick look into this world.
Author's Response:
Simple solutions for simple problems is the motto I live by. It's going to send an email to Robert? Can't send email if it's dead. From a technical standpoint on this episode I did ask myself why they didn't just turn it off, but I guess for plot's sake some things have to be overlooked.
Glad you liked the look, just don't lean over the pit too far or you fall in!

Ah, what a fitting way to bring it all together... I wonder if Carl would find Dunder Mifflin one of the quirkier sites he’s visited or just another day in the life? This was a very fun read!
Author's Response: Speaking from Carl's experience, definitely in the top 5. Thanks for reading!

I like that you let Carl just do his job and leave. Someone in that office should get to. This was really fun; thanks for sharing it.
Author's Response: You're welcome, thanks for reading!

What a fun story - glad to know Carl was able to escape DM unscathed! Maybe we'll see this character again?
Thanks for writing!
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! I do have the itch to write an epilogue or something, so we'll see!

Fun way to wrap it up. Michael on the PA was fun to be sure. Love that Jim and Pam have some pranks forming with the new info. Thanks for this look into the IT world. Nicely done.
Author's Response: Thank you for your consistent feedback, as one of the writers I look up to, I really appreciated it.

Enjoying this, especially the reaction by Carl to Dwight. Often in the show Dwight's weirdness is just baked in, so it's nice to see a regular person react to him.
Author's Response: As a watcher of the show, I always wondered how people could just take Dwight in stride sometimes. Carl definitely has to do a double take, and decide that it's safer not to address it.

I love that this story is essentially just a day in the office. It’s in the same vein as the show - nothing extraordinary happens, but it’s still entertaining because the characters are such characters (if you know what I mean). It’s great. Looking forward to seeing how you wrap it all up.
Author's Response: Thank you for affirming that, this is what I was going for!

Sicking Dwight on anyone could yes be seen as a form of cruel and unusual punishment in some areas of the world. I mean, they might actually take him seriously! Probably a good thing for Jim and Pam to keep him corralled there at DM. Nice to see progress being made here.
Author's Response: I would argue, in most areas it would be cruel and unusual! Thanks for reviewing.

I am enjoying the original storyline here - I look forward to seeing where it goes!
Carl is such a calming, normal presence. His character is a good contrast to some of the others in the office!
Author's Response: Seems like Michael may have been inappropriately correct in boiling Carl Mann down to calm, eh? Thanks for the review!

I feel like Carl’s getting off pretty easy in the scheme of things in dealing with Jim. Can you imagine how productivity would slow if he were forced to content with Dwight or Michael instead? Pam’s little drawings/details were a sweet inclusion. Looking forward to seeing how you wrap this up in the next few chapters.
Author's Response: I think Carl might just pull out the "We're billing you by the hour, get out of my way" card... but he may be too kind for that. As for zeroing in on Jim, when you go onsite sometimes you just know who you can depend on to get things done... I guess Jim just gave that vibe?

Aww. So sweet. Also it makes sense the film crew would be at least partially responsible. Nice job integrating various parts of canon here.
Author's Response: Thanks, I appreciate it!
