"She'd looked forward to this day for almost six months, ever since Roy had set the date. She wasn't sure how long she had dreaded it." That is a wonderfully late Season 2 Pam line.
I don't know, I just really liked this. I thought you did a good job seeding the twist without giving it away.
Author's Response:
Thank you! This was my 1st or 2nd piece of Office fic ever. It’s not perfect by any stretch but I am fond of it for being so early on.
I got into a bad habit of twist endings, though. I guess I was trying to be the M. Night Shyamalan of The Office fanfic or something dumb.
I am delighted you think this one works!

So great!!
Loved it all, but the end was just AMAZING!
Thanks so much!
Author's Response: Thanks! This was my first or second Office fic ever— 87 stories and over 10 years ago! Thank you for finding it and giving it some love. :)

So, this is the story. I started writing a bit, but then decided with my time off (I was sick, and the cure was fanfic... something there is woefully little of as I am working), that I needed to read. And so then I chose J. Because J is just an awesome letter. And, I read some. And then I read more. And then I started reading this, and by reading it, I mean I read the first bit where you say this was your first office fic and first fic in a while, and so I am eager to read it. But apparently my eagerness doesn't preclude me from writing all of this before I even read the first line.
I am such an odd ball.
So, I am a horrible creature of habit about waking up also. I didn't use to be. But then this past semester, it was clockwork. Asleep by 11. Wake up right before 7. It shifted slightly for summer, asleep by 10, awake slightly at 7.
Should you file that entire paragraph under "stuff I didn't need to know about EmilyHalpert?"
Jim snores. Haha. Jim snores. Sorry, that makes me giggle like a little girl.
Wow, I am doing odder (that normal reviews today)... just thought I would mention that.
Did I read this story somewhere else? Or just not review? Because it sounds like something I read, but I didn't find a review. Because I remember the little details like Pam having the nail appointment and stuff. Or else I am psychic! AWESOME
Oh, and if being psychic wasn't awesome enough, this story is all kinds of awesome. Because Jim and Pam are happy together (which makes up for me reading Silence earlier), and it is the first day of her life is just such a great ending. And I have a (fanfic) sugar high and so I don't think it could do wrong in my brain.
Author's Response:
I'm not sure how I missed this review, Em, but I'm very sorry to leave it un-answered for so long. Um, anyway, so I'm glad you liked it, and I'm glad it cheered you up after some of my less happy stuff. I'm usually pretty fluffy, though.
This was like the first thing I posted to MTT, but I also posted it at ff.net, so maybe you read it there? Anyway, thanks!!

Whew! I got wonder for a second there! Good job!!
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I can't believe anyone is reading this old thing! I really appreciate you taking the time to review!

She'd looked forward to this day for almost six months...She wasn't sure how long she had dreaded it.
Great insight. I read this ages ago - can't believe I didn't review. I just love your prose :)
Author's Response:
Thank you, as always. And yet again, catching one of my personal favorite lines. That was the sentence that gave me the idea for the fic, in fact.

Great twist. Such a cute story. And I like that Pam is still somewhat unsure about her future and doesn't feel completely settled (that's as it should be, in my opinion; after all, starting a "new life" is a big and scary prospect!)
Author's Response: Thank you! I agree- this will be a big, traumatic step for Pam. When it happens, which it will. Right?!?! :)

Haha, I just realized that I wrote "this song" instead of "this story"! Music on the mind, I suppose. But the lyrics to that song are really very Jim and Pam.
"These things take forever; I especially am slow. But I realized that I need you, and I wondered if I could come home."
Author's Response: Oh, yeah, that's a great lyric. Thanks for the kind comments!

This song made me want to listen to "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes and just smile.
Author's Response: :)

I loved it the first time I read at ff.net, but just wanted to say again how sweet this story is.
Author's Response: I appreciate it!

Nice twist! I love the last line.
Author's Response: I'm fond of it myself. :) Thank you!

Oh, I actually have tears in my eyes and I'm not even pre-menstrual, lol. Good job - at first I thought it was going one way, then another, then I was surprised at the end (that sounds vague but in case anyone reads this before the story that's all I wanna say). Love it!
Author's Response: Thanks! It was fun trying to be sneaky.
