I really liked this. I love it when a male fic writer who actually writes relationships comes along—it’s such a treat to get to see the inside of an authentic male brain, lol. And this seemed so true to Jim, exactly what his inner voice probably sounded like on that particular drive. The line that kept hitting me was “Women are different.” Poor men—we are, lol. But not COMPLETELY different, because I guarantee you that whatever else she was feeling, Pam wanted to launch herself at Jim, too. :) Thanks for writing this!

This is too doggone good to be believed! Jim's POV as he comes back for Pam! I don't have to tell you that you nailed it, do I? He seemed so sure of himself, until you see his hands and realize that he was nervous but determined. And you really showed how he talked himself into asking her out.
I always liked the way he made it clear that he wanted a date, not just two friends going out together. And your story is a great recitation of how he talked himself into it. Even down to practicing his invitation, trying out different words and phrases. Excellent!
I never comment unless I can say something good. As you can see, my exclamation point is stuck and I can't say enough! Kudos!

wow. i can't say how much i adored this. okay, i can: a tremendous amount. i love when people get stream of consciousness right, and you got it so right. the internal debate, the questioning, the mentally attempting to control the green lights? all of it was perfection. great story.

Wow, how did I miss this when it was first posted? This was awesome. When I got to the end I was surprised to find that I had been holding my breath while I read it. Then, as I glanced at your reviews, the one from Nqllisi summed it up perfectly - that you "created and sustained a level of tension" I realized yes, that is what I was feeling and why I was not only holding my breath, but watching the blue box on the right to see how much story I had left. You did an excellent job with Jim's thoughts - they all seemed so real and so him. And this line was my favorite - "This is our last minute apart." Sigh....

I'm sure I'm not saying anything 34 other people haven't said, but this is wonderful. I just love it. And I know that dozens have already said this, but I love the chance to read "Jim thoughts" from an actual guy. We (meaning female authors) try, but I'm pretty sure we miss the mark at times.
I especially loved his being torn between feeling like a bad guy because of Karen, but being unable to stop the excitement about Pam from breaking through. Also, his utter desperation to "make this work" - love it. And, got to mention it, his attempts at reminding himself that "women are different."
Really, this is wonderful.
Author's Response: Thanks...lots of women here do a great job with Jim but in terms of his actual thought process I thought I might be able to give a perspective that others couldn't. I know I couldn't possibly do a similar piece from Pam's POV as effectively as a woman. I did think that Jim has a self image of himself as a good guy that he might be struggling to maintain as he reflects on his behavior.

this was absolutely perfect, the scattered nature worked wonderfully. The only thing missing was him cursing at a stupid driver, haha. I loved his sex thoughts intermingled with sweet ones and excitement over green lights. This was just fab.

It is SO SO SO good. I loved it! I loved that he mentioned 'more than that' in his head. I love that he's looking for signs with the traffic lights. I love his random jumps to the girl he asked out in HS, I love that he's so real.

Author's Response: Wow, it's great to get approval from the resident Scrantonian (Scrantonite?). I've never driven it, but did take a close look at the map. I'm sure if I did my research and actually made the drive I would have mentioned the Toll Booth.
