Oh, wow! This chapter was wonderful, but the last little bit was heartbreaking. Poor Pam, to find that picture!
I don't think you could possibly get the next chapter up soon enough for me. But... no pressure, because I'll read it whenever you can get it there. I'm so curious to see where you're going to go with this.
Author's Response: I'm a bit of a fan of angst, so my sincerest apologies. lol I'm glad you're enjoying the story though. I'm having a lot of fun writing it and working with it, so it's amazing to know that people are appreciating it/reading it. I hope I don't disappoint. Thanks so much for your reviews, they're awesome to read.

I wasn't sure this story would actually go to Rome - the title might just be figurative. But, how happy am I that it did? On a personal note - I LOVE Rome. Have been there several times, yet never gotten over the shock of it. So besides being on the edge of my seat to see how Pam and Jim's paths will collide, I'm really loving the setting - if they happened to take a romantic sunset stroll on the Pincio, followed by drinks in the Piazza del Popolo, I'd swoon. (But, this is YOUR story, so surprise me!) I laughed at your description of Jim and Karen's hotel room - I know that room all too well; been there, done that and lived to tell the tale.
Also, as an architect, I'm really interested to see where you take Pam's exploration of the city. Though, have to admit, I wondered why no architect involved in the refurbishment of the bldng in Buffalo? (Not to nitpick, but need to speak up for my peeps, LOL.)
Anyway - hope you'll update soon. This is making me hungry for a good gelato and glass of vino rosso (not together, necessarily ;-)
Author's Response: LMAO- no architects allowed. I rationalize her being without one because she's just doing the artistic designs (ie. what colours to use, sketch some ideas that the architects could run with...) I know, total crap, right? LOL I don't think I've been to Piazza del Popolo (and a look at my Rome map, tells me that I haven't), so now I'm thinking I need to take another trip to Rome. Good excuse, right? ;-) Thanks so much for the review- I hope you'll find my descriptions of the sights believable/realistic.

Wow, I left a really really really long review, and then I also realized I left out a bit more of the European history... so I decided to finish it.
So, yeah, North guy defeated the Papal army... and then also around this time, there was the concordat (I think) and they said that ya know, we will give you this little section of rome and it will be yours forever and ever. and it is. and then they also had some stuff about roman catholics being the main religion, and religious education in school, and that the pope in in charge of marriage.
or i have just mixed up about 3 different events in my head. oh well. class is over, finals are taken, and grades issued. as long as you don't use these reviews for any real scholarly effort, it doesn't matter.
Author's Response: LOL!! Maybe you're also thinking about Mussolini too... LMAO He gave the pope permission to continue to have Vatican City and he'd leave him alone (despite the fact that Mussolini was making all of Italy Facist during WWII). But yep, Vatican City is run by the Pope (who is the official head of state). They don't have regular school in Vatican City (aside from perhaps some religious cooperative opportunities for priests, brothers, nuns and religious laity). It's more of a country that is the head of a religion (Catholicism). Yeah... I suppose now's a good time to admit that I'm both Catholic and a history teacher *cough*bigdork*cough
And don't worry, I love your reviews. You're too funny! :)

I facebook poke you through MTT... :P. I wish I had a Jim in real life.. without any of the JAM drama. Just me single, him single, and then kabowy... we can be happy and nonsignle together. Oh well. Happy JAM is enough for now I guess.
I don't have a passport... but I really want one. But I have been to both Canada and Mexico. And eventually I will go other places. But, considering I really only speak English... and am the worlds pickiest eater... (and okay, really, I have about travel level fluency in spanish, and i can speak a wee bit of latin still. but really... its negilable, and I am trying to foret spanish because well, because I dunno....)
HAHA! The toliet is right beofre the shower!!! That image made me laugh... I read about it in another book - that one took place in Japan - and its so funny! You can go potty and take a shower at the same time and not go in the tub... (okay, so, i spend all my time with kids and that is a real possiblility.)
So many European countries really stress bilingual-ness.... and that is something that is really lacking in US... I have some friends in England, and they are always like oh you are smart, and my grades suck, and then I also say, yeah, but your sucky grades are in exremely difficult and challenging classes where you learn a ton more stuff than we ever do... but that is enough of a rant about the american education system for a review I guess.
Rome has Palm Trees? I guess it could, it does have a very meditarrian climate... it makes sense, but at the same time it doesn't. I however, can totally believe it does.
There is a terrace for Pam! Haha! :)
So see like, Vactican city used to be the whole middle of Italy. And then this guy whose name I should remember totally unified all of Italy. Well, actually, it was about 3 main guys. And the one main guy who worked with the north didn't like the guy who unified the south. So, the north guy went behind south guys back, but then it was all unified. And then there was civil wars and it just wasn't a good time for Italy. Sorry, I took a European History class, and for some reason, some line in there made me decide to share that knowledge.
Its so sweet how much Jim was trying to connect with Pam for the art... that really is so Jim, and its so sweet. Dammit, see that is why I want a Jim... I am not kidding, second I graduate, I am going to learn how to clone fictional characters. I don't care what they say about reality or anything like that, nope, I am making me a Jim Halpert. Except my Jim Halpert would be changed just a bit, so that ya know, he would be perfect for me, not Pam... and not be in love with Pam because that would make it too complicated :). Yeah, that is the part of the plan thats complicated.
Haha! His photo on Facebook is from when he was DWIM! AWESOME.
And Pam, don't worry. Jim is still thinking of you....
So, honestly, you can ignore about half of this review (such as my miny incomplete history lesson), but, yay for a new chapter. Made my Sunday afternoon of cleaning more bearable... and its not very productive, since my room is still a mess.... oh well.
Author's Response: You're too funny. You're thinking of Garibaldi who unified Italy in the late 1800's. But Vatican has been around since like, well, 100 CE with St. Peter. Vatican City is still its own country, with its own post office among other things. You have to pass through a metal detector and have your bags searched to get in. There was palm trees outside of Parco Tirreno (you can see them in the Parco Tirreno link), but I'm not entirely sure that they are native to Italy. It's possible that the hotel just planted them there for effect. I'm glad to hear that I'm helping you avoid cleaning, you're helping me avoid marking (so we're even :-). Thanks for the awesome review. I'm glad you're enjoying the story.

Sigh...this seems to be going in a positive direction for Jim & Pam. It's nice seeing Pam happy doing something in art. And I like that Jim isn't completely over Pam...haha..is that mean??
Looking forward to Rome!
Author's Response: Totally not mean! Stay tuned... Rome is coming very, very soon :) (like today... LOL) Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Oh! This is so fun! I cannot wait for more!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I'm glad you're liking it! :)

I was trying to respond to your response, but I can't figure out a way to do that. :(
As far as I know, there are no style guides that advise italicizing company names. Italics are generally reserved for major creative works (such as books, newspapers, movies, etc.) and for emphasis. I hate to sound nit-picky because this ultimately isn't that important, but I'm an English prof and it's important to me that people know these things. :)
Again, I really like this story so far!
Author's Response:
Thanks Pseudonym for letting me know. I hadn't realized. I do appreciate the feedback though. Thanks so much and I'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

Reading this story, and when you mentioned the text message, i remembered I have a voicemail to respond to... its just confirming my dentist appointment, so, not really fun...but i best do that after this story.
I love that Pam is successful and so good at something arty. My idea of art is a stick figure, and so I can't even WRITE something that could really be considered hinting at art.
So, because Jules video has taken over my brain, when you mention double cheeseburger, I think His Cheeseburger, and I think Pam, and so, Jim is taking a bite out of Pam... :P. Great, now I am going to be singing His Cheeseburger all day. I should go watch the Pirates Video, because I happen to know I am going to be playing Pirates... so, at least that makes sense (because singing about cheeseburgers never makes sense)
Anyways, that letter thing is a good idea. I mean, besides the fact that it is JAM contact, it does make sense.
"Joyce didn’t know how to operate his video camera like Pam had." I love the throwing in of little things like that.
Ick! Hives. I have only had them once before, and not fun.
He didn't send the letter!!!
I can't wait for them to go to Rome! This is awesome.
Author's Response: I'm glad (?) I reminded you of your dentist appointment... I think... LOL But teeth are important. I am excited to hear that you love the way I've represented the art in this story- I'm also a stick figure artist myself (can't draw for crap) so it means a lot to hear that. As for the Burger Barn & Jim's cheeseburger... yeah, totally intentional! LOL I saw Jules' video and I totally put that line in as a shout out to the video. Had I realized at the time that VT go to "Burger Bell" I would have named the restaurant that too. LOL But the double cheeseburger was definitely an intended metaphor, so kudos for catching it! ;-) Thanks for reading and as always, replying. Your reviews are awesome.

I really, really like where this story is going.
One tiny thing: Why do you italicize the names of the companies? That's really distracting to me for some reason.
Can't wait for your next update :)
Author's Response: LOL... I italicize the names in part because it's good writing form to italicize names of companies/brands. I hope it's not causing too much distracting though... I'm glad you're enjoying where the story is going. I really appreciate and enjoying hearing thoughts from readers. Thanks for reading and reviewing. :)

This story is good - it has substance and you've created a good foundation. You need to write faster
Author's Response: LOL! Why do I hear Dwight's voice going "mush, mush" (hee!) Thanks so much for the lovely compliments. I'm happy hear that you're enjoying the story! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

Ah I love it. At first I was a bit worried like I always am about AU-like stories but that all went away very very fast just as I started. What an amazing story so far. It's an amusing and it grabbed me in a wonderful way.
I've really enjoyed reading it thus far. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for our favorite JAM brand. Mucho love.
Author's Response:
Thanks Ren for the great review. I'm glad you weren't scared away by the possibility of it being "AU". I'm super happy you're enjoying it, thanks so much for reading and reviewing. :)

Please continue (and soon)! The Toy Story bit was an especially nice touch.
Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much. I hope to have an update for Sunday. I'm happy to hear you liked the Toy Story bit. I thought the prank was especially Jim, no? It's definitely the type of film I could see Jim & Pam going to. Thank you for reading and reviewing, I really appreciate hearing from you. :)

Being from Buffalo, and being in Buffalo now, makes me adore this story even more. It's incredibly well done, perfectly written, and intriguing in its story line. I can't wait for you to update and I'm so happy that someone finally represented B-Lo.
Author's Response: Whoot! B-Lo in da house! Like any good Canadian, I enjoy my lovely shopping trips across the border, and I figured what better place to put Pam- especially with the revamp of the city (it was just in our news here recently). I'm guessing you've seen/heard of the disaster that is The Lenox? LOL I'm glad you feel I'm doing your city justice. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

i am so excited to read about them in Rome. Please update soon.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. Next chapter will find our fave couple in Rome. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. :)

I wish Karen wasn't going to Rome with Jim! That makes for an awkward reunion between Jim and Pam.. haha!
Anyway, just wanted to say I love this story so far!! Can't wait to see what happens in Italy!
Author's Response: Oh I know! I wish that Karen wasn't going too. ;-) Thanks for reading and replying.

Ohhh this is going too be good! I love your writing style, and Jim's letter rang so true to character. Can't wait to see where this is going!
Author's Response:
Thanks for the review. I'm glad you found Jim's letter to have rang true. When I wrote it I literally just closed my eyes and pretended for a second that I was Jim... what would I say. I'm so relieved to hear that it works for you. Thank you for the beautiful compliment about my writing- I think you just might have made my day. :-)
Date: May 30, 2007 08:55 am Title: Chapter 2: Let Love In
Wow! This is so good! Jim's attempt at writing the email got me a little choked up. Our poor hurting kids! I'm so glad Pam didn't up and leave like in this story, but it's so realistic that she might have. And they both would still look back on it with some heartbreak.
Please continue to mention in TWoP when there's an update; I really don't want to miss updates to this.
Author's Response: I definitely will continue to mention it on TWoP! Thanks so much for the awesome compliments. I often wonder what Jim would have done had Pam left, I'm glad that his reaction is plausible and realistic. Thanks for reading and I'm soooo happy you're enjoying it.

OMG...I totally adore this story! I just got introduced to Office fanfiction with McPants but I swear this could be my new favorite! Update soooon...and when are they going to meet? I hope its the next chapter...*crosses fingers*
Author's Response: Aw, wow! Thanks so much for the great compliments. I hope you'll stay tuned- they'll meet soon enough. ;-)
Date: May 30, 2007 07:55 am Title: Chapter 2: Let Love In
Sigh. Loving this. First, props to you for creating such a plausible scenario for Pam to end up in Rome - nice details there. And Jim's email...wow. It shows a really nice progression of his feelings - from casual to guarded to completely vulnerable, unable to keep up the facade of "just saying hey." So, so sad - and so sad that he stopped writing it, tried to put it out of his mind. (And love the voice there for Jim - perfect!)
You're really setting the stage nicely for all the awesomeness to come, I tell you....
Author's Response:
My very favourite person! Yay! You are a million times over my hero. It partially broke my heart to have him close the browser window- but I've done it so many times myself. Thanks so much for being the head cheerleader. I'm completely overwhelmed by all the positive reviews. C'è un posto dove sedersi?
Date: May 29, 2007 10:16 am Title: Chapter 1: The Many Faces of Facebook
Well, if it wasn't for this story, I would be on facebook starting huge poking wars, so it is a good thing you wrote this! hehe
I would totally friend Pam on facebook. And I would get into a vicious poking war with her (I never relent)... I did a search (just in case), but all I foudn were groups... darnit
And hum, there is a Jim Halpert in Atlanta... and I just happen to be in Atlanta.... *gets off computer to go find her Jim*
So, things I love about this story: Mention Facebook (check), mention atlanta (check), mention Sara (which is another name I go by in a very confusing story of why) (check), JAM (massively huge super quadurple check even if it hasn't happened yet)... is there any way this story could fail with all of those check marks?
All I gotta say is you better write more quickly, because, you need to fulfill JAM before you get that "massively huge super quadurple check" mark.... :)
(although reading the other comments, I think we totally need a MTT on facebook group... maybe there already is one, I kinda suck with facebook. i am so addicted to it, but really all i use it for is messaging friends and poking wars... and i know there is so much else to do on it... but oh well. seriously, it is sites like that and this which is why I have no life!)
Author's Response: OMG! Jim and Pam *are* on Facebook! You must not have looked properly! I wish I was kidding you. Seriously. Look up "Jim Halpert" and "Pamela Beesly" and look for their network of "Scranton, PA"- it has their faces and everything. I'm totally "friends" with Jim Halpert already (LOL!!) we "hooked up and Pam doesn't know what she's missing". The whole cast of characters is on there. The day that Pam confessed on Beach Day Jim's "relationship status" was set to "single" again. LMAO. So. Much. Fun. I'm glad you're liking the story so far, and all those coincidences must make it fate! Don't worry, I'm going to fulfill the 4th checkmark for you. ;-) Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Date: May 29, 2007 10:14 am Title: Chapter 1: The Many Faces of Facebook
That made me very sad. I hope it picks up in the future chapters. I can't wait to see them in Rome together.
Author's Response:
Don't worry! The first couple of chapters have a bit of angst, but I'm going to guarantee, neigh promise you happy JAM. Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)
Date: May 28, 2007 01:55 pm Title: Chapter 1: The Many Faces of Facebook
Ohhhh, I hope you update soon. I can tell this is going to be good. You present a really daunting conflict for Jim--this is a relationship with Karen that we never saw on the show. It seems much deeper and he easily acknowledges the things he loves about her. And the ring! Of course I want Jim with Pam, but I like that you're making it a challenge.
Author's Response: Wow! Thanks so much for the awesome compliments. We'll be seeing a bit more of Karen & Jim's relationship. I always figured Jim would be with the antithesis of Pam (like her opposite in many ways). But I think that humour and friendship are always important to him, so I play Karen very much with those qualities. I'm glad you like the challenge. Thanks so much for reading!
Date: May 28, 2007 01:12 pm Title: Chapter 1: The Many Faces of Facebook
I really like the way you set up the parallel situations of Pam on Facebook (but with no friends - somehow that detail seemed very Pam and so sad) and Jim about to get on. Nice suspense, waiting to see how they cross paths there (and clever foreshadowing with Karen telling Jim he'll never believe who sent her a friend request.) Also like how Pam still thinks of him so often and how her departure literally made it hard to breathe. Aw, Jim. Three years with Karen, yet he can't quite bring himself to take the big leap? Mmm hmmm. Okay, that ring box in his drawer has me nervous. You must update soon (please)!
Author's Response: LOL! Thanks Collette for the awesome review. I imagine that it would be so hard for Jim to deal with Pam ever leaving him- when he left her in the show, he never really had to deal with that, right? Oooh, that ring box will be making its return... ;-) Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)
