I am usually very critical of AU pieces because sometimes the author will skip over the most important parts like the back story and just get to the physical side of a certain paring's physical relationship but you have not with this story! You're doing a great job with describing James' heartbreak over Matilda's new relationship with Robert! The only thing that confused me was James' mother's name was Alice but then she was known as Abbey when you described her pregnancy and eventual death. Was that her nickname or did I miss something in an earlier chapter? But overall, this is one of my favorites! keep up the great work!
Author's Response: You didn't miss anything, rather you caught my last minute name change. Maybe I should rename her Dwigt? Thanks for the feedback, and the eagle eye.

I read my first AU last year, the wonderful "Hope" by my #1 favorite author, Nomadshan. This reminds me of that, both set in the 30's which is a favorite era of mine because that's when my beloved grandparents were raising my mother. What is my point in this review? Just that I love how this is starting and am anxious to read more.

Seriously, though, this is really interesting. And, of course you've never done anything like this before! That's the loveliness of AU. Every AU is so different than anything we've seen before. I don't know where exactly you're going with this, of course, but I think it's gonna be good! It's certainly starting that way.
