It's an overused word to describe something but it fits here: beautiful. Just stunningly beautiful. What an amazing first effort, I definitely look forward to reading more from you in the future.

This is your first? Hard to believe. The language is so careful and poetic, and I love that it's such a simple but evocative scene. Also how you describe the sensations (the sound of his feet on the gravel, the sun in his eyes, the movement of the air, the tickle in her throat, etc.) - makes the moment so vivid and palpable. And great parallel of the building shaking her at the beginning and the sound of his sigh, making it still at the end - lovely, quiet sense of resolution.
