Howard Halpert! HA! That is good! Glad to see the fellas made of go of it!
Author's Response: Thanks! I had a tough time figuring out where I wanted them to end up. Before I did the second act, I knew I wanted them to start the business together. But I came back around, and I like where it ended.

I love Jim messing with Ryan - too funny! Great job with David Wallace wanting the both of them to come to NYC - sounds great to me ;)
Author's Response: Yeah, I think it would be almost too hard for Jim not to mess with Ryan in this scenario. It's how Jim treats those that annoy or bother him. rnrnWe will find out in soon to come epilogue where Jim decides his future lies...

Oh my -- that is one hell of a proposal -- on all fronts.
Author's Response: Thanks! I really worried that whole scene was a bit to fluffy and over the top, but I really liked the thought of Pam stepping in there and being the one to propose. Life just can't always go as planned. :)

Thank you so much for writing this! I loved every bit of it :) everytime I would browse the most recent stories i would always look to see if this had been updated, and now I'm gonna miss that :( hahaha
Thanks again, and I look forward to your future stories!
Author's Response: Well, I should be adding an epilogue so you can see where these kids all ended up....rnrnThank you so much for your review. It means a lot to me to know you've been enjoying it. Getting reviews has been way too much fun.

great chapter
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm pretty fond of this one myself for some reason, though I fear it might have been a bit out of the general tone of the story. So I really appreciate hearing you liked it!

as I was reading the end of your story I had an epiphany. Becca Lavender doesn't know how much I like her story! And so here it is: it is awesome (very kevin-esque comment I know) and I can't wait for the next chapters
Author's Response: Aw, thanks. I'm really happy to hear you like it!

Nice twist. You really have done a good job. I can't believe it's your first effort! I hope you continue.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I have about one more chapter plus an epilogue of this to write, then I imagine I will keep writing as the ideas come as I'm really enjoying the writing.

Aw, that was really nice. I feel like there could be more, but I like where it ended too.
Author's Response: Thanks! I actually think there will be one more chapter, so we can see Jim's take one more time plus an epilogue.

i love this fic!
Author's Response: Thank you so much!
Date: September 05, 2007 08:09 pm Title: Respecting Authority
Oh jeez, you are good! Bringing Jim's May (2007) interview full circle with his trip to NY a year later! Great googly moogly!
I can't wait to see how Jim juggles two tagalongs for dinner!
Author's Response: Thanks! I have a weakness for bookends, with things going full circle like this.

I really like the way you capture Ryan's personality and also the dynamic between Ryan and Jim. Continued wonderful work!
Author's Response: Thank you so much. It's been really fun and interesting trying to capture this dynamic, which I think is one of the more interesting ones on the show.

Jim caught it, and set it down. "Doubt I'll need this. I have a feeling it's all of equal importance."
Excellent line there. In fact, the tension and balance of snark and barbs was just so wonderful in this scene. You really have such a knack for the banter between Ryan and Jim, and how there's always this underlining animosity that stems from just them being two very different, yet similar people. I really liked Ryan's revelation about Jim's lack of motivation in this chapter and just the idea that Jim may not want to be Michael but admires his loyalty and love, which is something, as fans, we all do as well. I'm looking forward to this dinner. I have visions of Pam being the peacemaker :)
Author's Response: Thanks! This chapter was supposed to move the plot a bit more, but then I started to really like this conversation and left it on its own. While obviously I am interested in the Jim/Ryan dynamic, I really love Jim's perspective on Michael as well. Jim clearly gets frustrated with Michael when he is being way over the top, but seems to also appreciate the vulnerability underneath. As always, thanks for leaving such great reviews.

oooooo I think Pam will definatly be his fiance...but Im not to sure about Michael's Job...we shall have to see. 0.0

Wow, what a great find. I'm so glad I came across this. I wish I didn't have to go to work so soon so that I could read it straight through.
You hit these characters dead-on. The little insights on Kelly were great. Ryan's thought process was brilliant too (the whole Eskimo part cracked me up).
I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this. This is on my mental to-do list for later this afternoon :)
Author's Response: Well, I'm glad you came across it too. :) rnrnThanks so much for the review. Nothing makes me happier than to hear that the voices are in character, as I really try for it and always hope that it works! rnrn

oooo hurry up and update. I got a fever. and the only cure, is knowing how im is gonna react! ;)
Author's Response: Thanks! I will do my best to find your cure soon. There are many thoughts churning through my head, but I am still crafting it all into words.

Oh Ryan should know better than to be all cryptic with Jim, he of the ability to read most anyone unless he's emotionally guarding himself ;) I really am curious of what his reaction will be, if Michael can even be saved this go around no matter what Jim(and Pam) may attempt.
And I do wonder if Karen will make a cameo. Hm... Great chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks! There are definitely a lot of issues still hanging there. And Jim is onto Ryan. As for Karen, only time will tell! :)

This is really good. I'm curious to see what Jim will do and what Michael's reaction will be.
Nice work!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's really a tough sitch for Jim, because despite everything he has some loyalty and affection for Michael.

Whoa -- the plot thickens. Poor Jim, caught in a job he never intended to have turn into a career....
Author's Response: Thanks! Yep, things are getting rough for Jim, now having to possibly deal with moving up or moving on.

Author's Response: Thanks! I will do my best to get out an update pretty soon.
Date: August 18, 2007 07:37 am Title: Ryan's Last Day
I just started reading this today and got up to your latest chapter. Jim taking Michael's job? Ah, what a twist! Jim isn't going to be happy when he finds out he's supposed to replace Michael. Oh, boy.
This is a good story, so far. I'm most impressed with the way you've written Jim -- his dialogue has been very spot-on. And Ryan; oh, Ryan with his sarcasm and holier-than-thou attitude. Even seeing it from his perspective doesn't make it much more sympathetic.
Honestly, though, I really, really can't wait to see Ryan as the boss for real! Nice work so far. Can't wait to see what happens next ...
Author's Response: Thank you so much. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm really happy to hear that you think Jim sounds natural. I always worry about the character's voices sounding right, and always hope that I'm doing them justice. rnrnI too am looking forward to seeing Ryan's transition to being the boss. I'm really intrigued as to how that'll shake down. rnrn
Date: August 18, 2007 07:34 am Title: What a Difference a Year Makes
Ooh, it's back! And hm, Ryan, best laid plans, huh? Though the two of them at a business together was also enjoyable, I didn't think Ryan could pull that together in just a year while adjusting to a completely new job with new responsibilities. Though I wonder if Ryan thought that.
And Jim, heh, he's sure going to figure out why he's going in for management training. He's too observant not to and Ryan seems to lose any kind of poker face with Jim. Pam being along will also makes this even more interesting. Looking forward to all the reactions(and Michael's!) to this development.
And yay again for you picking up the story again!
Author's Response: I just couldn't help myself, and had to return to this universe. We haven't really seen Ryan show much business acumen beyond his books, so it would be hard to imagine him launching somehting quite so quickly. Plus, I wanted to revisit this dynamic again with them still in the DM universe. There will be some interesting moments as this turn of events shakes down. (Or moments I hope to be interesting.)rnrnThank you so much for all your great reviews of this story. I really appreciate it.
