So nice, Azlin! I especially like the useless knowledge!

Oooh, Azlin, that was wonderful. I love Pam. Who doesn't love Pam? And this look into her job and her attitude about it was just great. This was fabulous:
"We all know Stanley's going to be the break-out star of this documentary."
LOL! I love it.

Aw, this was great! I also loved the ending with Jim asking about the terrace and the famous quote!

I've never thought about The Office prior to the documentary crew arriving. Great concept. And funny thing but my daughter also hates making phone calls, just like Pam.

Good insight into her life Azlin. An excellent departure from Garbage Can Letters.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I was going to write today. But I was sitting at a garage sale - working. And of course, I was like 2 inches from my mom and so explaining it would have been... well, like the worlds worst thing. So no writing happened. I did however plan a vacation (to Scottsdale of course). And I am spending the rest of my day reading, and maybe writing if i have energy.
Oh, this is so Pam. Pam puts up with so much. And of course, Jim is a reason she puts up with a lot. She would have quit long ago without him there.
I can totally relate to not wanting to talk to strangers. Which is why I do SO much better online. I would so much rather email or IM than call or meet in person. I am a totally different person online, cause I can write and it isn't in person and such. So even though its strangers it is still faceless strangers and it isn't talking. Wow, have I just rambled too much? Okay, shut up time.
Ya know, there are a thousand and two reasons why Roy moved in with Pam (see this line "The plan was for Roy to move in with her")... but since it was Roy, the first thought I thought was shesh, he's moving in with her. Which makes no sense whatsoever. Because, I would bet it is about 1/3 split move into her house, move into his house, move into a new house (not that I have ever been in that situation), but since it was Roy, it just seemed to make me immediately think of him in a bad light. And of course, I mean, it does come back to bit her in the ass, but, still, it was from that little line, nothing else.
I am really glad that this is your story, because I think it is was someone elses, they would be permanently scared of me from this review.
"Then again, Jim is notorious for remembering every little detail of their break room conversations." I have a friend like that who I hate for that reason. I mean, it is IMs not break room conversations, but, seriously. It is like, "but what about that tiny little detail you mentioned in passing three years ago, on that sunday where you also did this and this" I love him and hate him for it. Oh, and, no, he is not my Jim. But, wow, I could write a whole book on Yekim. It is a very interesting relationship we have.
"Well, Beesly, just as long as you don't forget about us when you become famous."
Shades of The Job in reverse.
And Stanely is so the star. Him and his crossword puzzles just hog all the screen time. But, we all just love stanely. This is why this type of story... focusing on the minor characters of jim and pam are such a rarety. :P. wow, my brain is a bit loopy. (what else is new... i just think it melted today in the sun)
"Besides, if she quit what would she do with all the useless knowledge floating around in her head. Where to find the best yams when Michael is feeling sick, how often to sneak into the men's bathroom with a new scented candle so that the smell won't leak out into the kitchen, Jim's favorite flavor of soda..."
Shades of the pilot :).
I love little one shots. I am not a total fan of melted brains. But who knows what may happen .... gooey brain makes for interestingness.
Author's Response:
Okay, wow. I think I should frame this and put it up on my wall as my longest review ever. Seriously, you're awesome! Oh, and I know you're in Scottsdale right now, so this probably won't get to you for awhile, but I hope you have a great time!
That's a bummer that you couldn't write b/c of the garage sale. I hate when I get the writing bug but real life interferes. Although, it's even worse when you finally find some free time and you really want to write but nothing seems to work. Or you're just miserably uninspired.
Anyway, I'm glad you thought the story was in character for Pam. She's always my favorite character to write, but the one I'm most worried about getting right. (haha write, right. Me=lame.) Moving on, I wanted to put that part in there because I think we always get the sense that Jim would've quit if Pam wasn't there, but it's not as evident with Pam even though, personally, I think it's just as true for her as it was for him.
Talking to strangers is one of my least favorite things too, but I don't really mind doing it as a receptionist. It's just part of the job. Except when you have to call people and you know they're not going to be happy about what you're going to tell them. That's the worst.
That's really funny about your friend! I usually love it when my old friends remember stuff that happened years ago, but I could see how it would get annoying. Especially if it was embarrassing for me. Not saying that's the case with you, just...you know. And none of them are my Jim either, although I do have sort of a long-standing back-up crush on one of them. Like when I don't have a crush on anyone else, I sort of automatically default to him. Which is totally the case at the moment. No big deal though, it just makes me all giddy to see him and sometimes I think about what it would be like to kiss him and sometimes I wonder if he's ever thought about me like that since we've been friends forever and I just wonder if he'd ever... whoooo I am saying, a lot of things.../Pam (Good thing it's just you, otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd be doing some permanent scaring too. Which is not the same as permanent scarring, but close...)
I know, sometimes I have trouble finding any Jim and Pam stories among all the good Stanley ones. Oh well, he's totally the star so I can see why people would want to write about him. ;)
I hope you've solidified your brain again, but feel free to leave me melted-brain reviews whenever you want! They're way fun! :)
Like I said, have a great trip! Can't wait to have you back! ;)

I really liked this! I've always wondered how Pam came to drop out of school and this is a certainly plausible explanation. I loved how you mentioned certain details from the show (the terrace, the yams) but in such a subtle way. I hate talking to strangers on the phone, too.
He laughs, and she knows right away that she won't really quit.
Nice line there. :-)
Author's Response: I've wondered about all those things myself, so part of this story was just my way of answering my own questions! And you've probably guessed that I'm not a big fan of calling people out of the blue, but I'll do it if I have to. Thanks for the review! I'm so glad you liked that line and the whole story!

"Well, Beesly, just as long as you don't forget about us when you become famous."
Aww! I like all the parallels you've drawn in the 'pre-documentary' story. Nicely done.
Author's Response: That part at the end with all the parallels was my favorite part to write, and then I kept thinking of more and more. It was fun! Thanks for the review, Lisahoo!

Y'know, the thing I love about this story (and indeed, about the show in general) is how utterly ordinary the characters are. They're just like regular people doing regular things, and yet somehow, it's fascinating. And that's sorta how I felt about this little story of yours. It was a nice little glimpse into the calm before the storm, if you will.
I liked the back story of how Pam ended up at DM; how it was Roy who convinced her to get the job, and how a series of events just kept her there.
Nicely done!
Author's Response: I had fun writing this because of exactly what you said. I sort of just imagined that I was Pam and trying to figure out how to go from a normal job to being on TV. Plus, I had lots of questions about how Pam ended up as the receptionist and this was my way of answering them. Thanks for the review, Mose! You rock!
