i think i liked this. i know that's not very nice, or specific, but i really just don't like the idea of pam and roy together. even though in this chapter the places or roy and jim seem to have switched, it still just leaves me in a weird position. great job with the story though, it leaves me thinking, that's for sure!

If I ever really, really, needed to count on somebody to step up to the moment, to not run and hide, to be there for me when I'm at my weakest, Halpert would be the last guy on my list. Considering the level of emotional maturity and respect he paid Karen, I'm not surprised he failed Pam. And the times of adversity, well that's when you find out who your real friends are. Roy's redemption so perfectly mirors Jim's fall. This is an awesome story. I love it!

The whole story was sad, but that line was totally heartbreaking. You did a great job with this.

i think i read this somewhere... oh well. i enjoyed it, even though it was sad... its like, not the ideal way, it starts off like oh they are together and she is pregnant.... but then it all goes to hell. and then, its like, its roy. and.... yeah, my brain isn't making sense. so sorry about that.

Wow. Even though there is no way I'd want for Jim and Pam to not work out I'm really glad you wrote this. It was such a different take on the idea and I actually think it was quite successful.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you and I must know different Jims. Very, very different ones. ;)

The thing with Jim is, he's not actually an exemplary guy. He's nice to Pam, sure, but he's kind of jerk to everyone else. Maybe everyone that thinks his pranks are fun or cute, but anyone that's ever been repeatedly targeted for some sort of prank or teasing in high school or before (or after) knows that whether or not it's in jest, it never really feels that way.
He's not exactly the most stellar example of maturity either, that's illustrated a hundred plus times in season three.
And not to mention, any guy that could say what he did to Pam in the break room during The Negotiation is a Jim capable of this.
Don't take that the wrong way. ;)

I admit, I started reading this on LJ earlier today and gave up because I was getting so lost in the pronouns, but thought maybe I hadn't been focused enough before and decided to try again when I saw it here, so I'm really glad you made the changes you did. It was much easier to follow and appreciate. This was a lovely and sad, but also kind of happy in the end, story. It made me really mad at Jim, obviously, but it's really nice to see Roy stepping up. I think he has all the potential to be this good of a guy if given the opportunity.

So like another reviewer mentioned, at first I was sort of confused. By another re read and I think I've got it.
Wow, what an asshole Jim turned out to be. Sadly I've seen seemingly nice guys do heinous stuff like this before.

Yeah, I tampered with the pronouns some and added more names. I wrote this in like, five periods and I kept confusing myself. That's when I realized it needed to be fixed.
I really wanted to explore this idea of perfectionist Jim who just, wants everything a certain way and then he's all thrown for a loop. And he's still a young guy, you know? I have a thing for Jim that isn't all love and puppies.
