Pam's part was so beautiful, and Karen's so sad. When I first read that she threw his stuff in the dumpster I thought oh dear, but then I thought, you go girl! And great explanation as to how Karen became the RM in Utica.

I wonder if Pam and/or Karen mocked the scruffy screenwriter in a teensy little scene with whoever. Beyonce? Whichever.

Author's Response: ha! you know - i was searching for that scene on youtube. i thought i had seen it somewhere but alas i couldn't relocate it. i think pam would've mocked it. karen would've been too far gone.

I really liked the David Wallace section. I think it is great that he is a secret office gossip.

What a great way of linking these vignettes (and oddly, I actually just saw Dreamgirls, for the first time, the other day.) The Jim/Pam and Karen parts are lovely and funny and subtle and touching and very, very believable. And great detail in the Wallace one - perfect that he'd have cd's his kid made him and then switch to NPR (to be honest, that scenario hits a bit close to home here, lol.) This was completely delightful.
Author's Response: thanks! the linking started with just a vignette for karen. then i thought of the idea of pairing karen's unhappiness with pam's off the wall joy... and then i thought, what the heck, throw david wallace in too. i'm glad you liked!!

I liked this - it was nice new approach to The Job, and who doesn't love more David Wallace?? :-)
You might want to put spoilers for branch wars and not fun run; I'm sure everyone has seen it by now, but karen's move to Utica wasn't mentioned until Branc Wars.

I really enjoyed this. I haven't seen Dreamgirls; you might want to put "spoilers for Dreamgirls" somewhere, since you're giving away some plot. (I'm not planning to see it anyway, so I don't care about being spoiled, but someone might.)
It's all very good, but my favorite part is the conversation with David Wallace, and his little message for Joe Schultz at the end -- basically 'you will hire this person' and then knowing in his mind that she's Joe's replacement. So, so good.
