I'm enjoying this story and hope you can get through the next bit soon. Since you asked, my thought is that who Pam is with is her choice. If Jim tries to make the decision for her, she's in another situation just like she's in now with Roy. He could be with her when she tells Roy, though - never seen that attempted. Just my thoughts.
