Keep it up! I love this story :)

Author's Response: Thanks.  I think I have a structure in mind now, so it shouldn't be so long between posts ... I hope!

i like this lil transition chapter, it makes for a nice pause in the midst of all the heartbreak... can't wait to see what you have in store next ;-)

Author's Response: Thanks!  And I do still plan to send you future chapters.  Didn't think I was going out on a limb with this one so I just posted it.

awwwhhh...loved it...loved how pam still has to work to make sure she doesn't react the wrong way so that that they are together...love how the nurses thought she was a nurse...can't wait for more

Author's Response: Thanks for taking the time to review!  It makes my day when someone takes the time to leave a few words...

Hey! There is a lot of medical stuff, but as long as we get schmoopy Jamness eventually ;) I can deal...
Glad to see another chap! And poor Jim.

Author's Response:

Thanks, Crystalized!  We'll get schmoopy in a couple of chapters!

Thanks, Lisahoo!  My Pamela is going to be a bit Abby-esque, I guess.  And definitely she will continue to be the alpha dog!

Author's Response: Oops.  Obviously that was SUPPOSED to be a response to Lisahoo's review. Oh well, that's one way to up the review count, I guess!  :D

Love. This. Story.  I found the gesture of Pam playing with Jim's "wedding band" while comforting him to be so intimate and soothing.  They're not even trying and they're acting as if they really are married.  The fact that you can balance the technical with the emotional is impressive.  Another awesome chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks a lot NanReg!  You made my day with "They're not even trying and they're acting as if they really are married."   That's exactly what I was going for and I wasn't sure that it would come across.

loved it...there was a lot of medical info, but i felt a connection between jim and pam, can't wait for more!!

Author's Response: Thanks, dancer288.  I'm glad the connection between Pam & Jim is coming through.  I've just got to get through a couple more chapters establishing the medical situations and then will have more time to explore the emotional component of the story.

I love how giving Pam is. She's guiding him through this awful situation, and I'm glad he's letting her. Then again, how could he not? I just love the tenderness.

Author's Response: Thank you, thank you!  I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Loved howsupportive Pam could be for Jim...and when she was fiddling with his "wedding band" I couldn't help but wish that it were all true and look forward to see how long after this ordeal they'd wait to make it a reality

great job!

Author's Response: Thanks for taking the time to review, JRAddict.  It really means a lot when readers take the time to leave a few words.  Pam will continue to be very supportive.  Don't think the story will go long enough for them to actually be married, though.  An epilogue maybe?

You're right, this was a little heavy on the medical info, (Pam sounded a too much like Abby Lockhart, but that's cool).  Also, I'm a dork & I like to understand all those details.

I also really like that Pam was able to take that knowledge and use to to reassure Jim.  (I heart Pam being the alpha dog every now & then).

Author's Response:

Oops!  I posted a review of my own story when I meant to post a response to this!  Look in the reviews...

Thanks for keeping up with the story, Lisahoo!

Thank you for updating! I keep my out for this one...it's good.

Author's Response: Thanks, bcd.  It's really cool to hear that people are looking for updates!  I am working on the next chapter now.  Hopefully, I'll get it up faster than usual.  (TWSS!)

I'm reviewing again! (hallelujah for a working internet connection!) You've done a great job on this story and I love reading others reviews. Thanks for all your shout-outs and recognitions, I'm glad my medical knowledge has been put to good use :) I feel privileged to be taking care of Mrs. H. I'm interested in what kind of condition Mr H will be in!

Author's Response: Yay!  Welcome back!

i just came back today to leave another POST SOON comment but you beat me to it!!!!

i love this take charge pam and i love her holding his hand. and you said you were intimidated by the other stories, well this is the story i'm most interested in. i only regularly check this one, so jump on it!!

it's a good thing the spleen didn't burst completely, i know that the spleen is important. yikes, poor jim :( i'm glad mrs jim halpert is there to take care of him, do i look forward to some night time snuggling and caressing as jim sleeps in pam's arms? :)

Author's Response: Well, thank you indeed!  I'm really glad you're enjoying the story so much!  I've been going back & forth on plot developments.  Think I'm finally happy with a plan, so I have been writing.  Kind of jumping around with scenes from various chapters, though, so not sure when the next chapter will be up.  You have lit the fire under my butt, though, Kimmerz!  More will be forthcoming!

I was SO excited to see this updated!!! please, be encouraged and keep it coming. i am constantly impressed with your knowledge of medical things. is that research for the story, or are you educated about it already? it's impressive and definitely keeps me reading. I can't wait for more :)

Author's Response:

Thank you very much, rulesofjinx.  My knowledge of medical things, you ask?  Well, my parents both had a LOT of serious medical problems in the last 10 - 15 years of their lives.  I learned more about cardiology, kidney stones, skin cancer & parkinsinism diseases than anyone would really want to know.  It's been a few years, though, and I am kind of rusty on some of it.  chelibelle has been really helpful answering questions about things I wasn't sure about.  And then there's always Google.  How on earth did we ever live Before Google?  I'm trying to strike a balance so that people like JennInTheCity don't get bored with the medical stuff.

I really appreciate the review.  Thanks for taking the time.

I really like this story, but I'd rather hear more about Jim and Pam than the medical exposition. I appreciate that you've done the research to make it real, but the characterization and their relationship is more interesting than the hospital stuff. Just MHO.

Author's Response: Thanks for your comment.  There is a LOT of "down time" when you're in the hospital with unconscious patients!  I definitely do plan to explore and expand Pam & Jim's relationship as the story progresses.

Hooray! So glad that you were inspired to keep this going! I think it's great how dedicated you are to making the medical detail accurate--I actually feel like I'm learning something!

I'm also looking forward to more of the Jim-and-Pam-are-married scenario that you hinted at in this one. Can't wait to see more of his reaction to that.

I am also curious if their status as reality stars will come into play (if anyone notices or recognizes them). That was cool how you had Pam think of covering all the bases.

Good job!

Author's Response:

Well, thanks very much for your post before.  (It really was part of what got me going again.)  And thanks for this post, too!

Reality stardom will probably come into play somewhere...

so good...it is really great that you are using real medical terms and not just making some up to make the story...can't wait for more!!

Author's Response: Thanks very much.  I'm really trying not to make any medical gaffes in this story.  I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I am so happy to see a new chapter, I thought this one was dead in the water! I am very scared for Jim, but happy that Pam is there with him. They are so convincing that they should just go ahead and get married in the hospital chapel, right ;)

This is a unique story and it has quite a different voice and tone than others, so I hope to read more!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your review.  Cardiac Care really was pretty much dead in the water.  I just had to get over the whole intimidation thing... If you're enjoying the story, you can thank berrycakefan and Kimmerz for the push they gave me in their review.  Plus, I felt really bad that I would have wasted a lot of chelibelle's time if I didn't use the information she gave me by writing some more chapters.  Mr. Blood is heading back to CA tomorrow (previous trip was cut short in the middle), so I will be able to write in the evening w/o feeling guilty!  Hopefully, I'll get another chapter done in a few days.

VB, I've been following this story from the start and it's SO GOOD.  Please don't be intimidated.  I saw a comment of yours posted to one of the other stories where you mention that, and I was silently cheering you on.  I'm so glad you continued.  This was another great chapter, I only wish it was longer!  I know--I'm so greedy. Your attention to detail is phenomenal, and you manage to convey the emotion of the story, as well.  I hope we hear more from you soon.  Please?!

Author's Response: Hi, NanReg! Yup, you definitely have been following ... and reviewing ... from the very beginning.  Thanks a lot for all your reviews!!!  It's really gratifying to know someone's following along so intently!  I know I did cut off the chapter kind of abruptly but I just had to ^&*% or get off the pot, you know?  So I posted what I had and waited to see if anyone was actually going to continue reading it.  I'm hoping to write the next chapter in a couple of days and get it off to chelibelle for her review.  (If she still has time...)

So glad to see you updating again, VB!  Kudos to Pam for trying out their little white lie, and for being so good to Jim, looking out for how he reacts.  (Besides, who doesn't want her to be Pam Halpert for realsies?)

And I learned something about my spleen.  Nature.  [/Pam]

Author's Response:

Thanks, Lisahoo!  I forgot to mention you in my reply a couple of reviews ago when I told Crystallized to thank berrycakefan and Kimmerz for prodding me to post another chapter.  chelibelle told me about your posts on the MTT fanfic board touting Cardiac Care.  I really got a kick out of that!  I never even knew those boards were out there.  So, thanks for being my publicist and cheerleader!

And this time I will be careful to NOT double-click the submit button, so I only post this reply once!

no update :(?

Author's Response:

Ok Kimmerz & berrycakefan!  I have sent off a chapter to a couple of readers who are medical professionals and agreed to check my chapters for horrid inaccuracies.  I'm waiting to see if they have time to give a look-see and then I will post a chapter.

Thanks very much for your words of encouragement!  I really do appreciate the NUDGE.
