I was trying to write something myself but it wasn't happening. And so I figured if I could't write, I might as well read. And there really was't any doubt in my mind whose stories I would read!
Okay, just the fact that they are living togeter makes me insanely happy. And also, if Jim has all his important papers in a small metal box - well, I must be a packrat. I have about 3 xerox boxes full.
Okay (wow I say that a lot). Even without the opening notes I would recognize what Pam was finding. However, it totally takes you out of the moment with a dog barking like crazy a foot from your ear. At least I don't need ears to read.
She knew he had taken the card!? Holy crap, my heart would be pounding also. Well, it really is pounding. Which begs the question of why in the world am I typing this instead of readin more, so shutting up now.
20 years!? I was thinking this took place like, this christmas!
Its a good detail (small, but realistic) that Jim couldn't remember what exactly he wrote.
Okay, that card was both funny and sweet. Yeah, pretty awesome.
I think if they ave a 14 year old who is doing homework it is a miracle. I was all sorts of smarty mcpants and i still hated doing homework.
And the ending made me giggly. "The oppositse of climactic" hehe.
That is a cool card!

"He put his arm around her and kissed her temple. “To remind me not to take you for granted.”
Awwww. I love Jim. And Pam. And you for writing such awesomely awesome fics.

What a delightful way to contrast the pair of them between then and the future! The note in the card was perfect; it was absolutely spot on for who Jim was then. Their banter was wonderful and I also enjoyed all the little details of their life together that were slipped in so naturally.

You're too quick for me (twss). I was super lazy when I got home last night and couldn't focus on reading what you sent me properly.
Love the premise that so much time has gone by. They're so....great.

Hey, you. So much for writer's block and thanks for tackling the Christmas card topic.
I agree with Lisa that what you had Jim write on the card was probably about as gutsy as he could be at that time, considering she was "taken". I'm glad she finally got to read it though.
And yes, yay for them being old married farts and going to Europe, and Jim being a sports writer too! I love happy Jam future fics.

Yay for nineteen years. And double hooray for being smoochy and wanting to climactically kill time after all those years. I also think it makes sense that the card would turn out to be a lot less confessional than we might have imagined - very Jim to have been so reticent even about that message, back in those days. Delightful.

This sums up the whole Xmas card issue as far as the fandom is concerned: "I think no matter what was written, after all this time it was bound to be anticlimactic, you know?"
I like that it wasn't immediately apparent to Pam what the card was -- it's a big deal to us in the context of the show, but to Pam, it wouldn't be something she'd realize right away. I like that she had to noodle through it.
I can totally see how at the time, writing that seemed like taking a huge leap to Jim, but really, it wasn't so far out there. It's like "she's so.... great"; on the surface, it's pretty innocuous, but the layers of meaning are actually much deeper.
P.S. Squee for Jim & Pam being married 20 years!
