I'm glad Jim didn't run after her...and I like that you've made him sensitive to how the whole Karen thing effected Pam, but still self-aware enough to not simply fall back into that old, destructive pattern. The thought of him thinking IwishyouwouldIwishyouwould with Karen, the night of BG, is just such a punch in the gut too. Yikes. Okay, I think you've got 100's of readers holding their breath...be gentle with us ;-)

Wendolf--This was wonderful. The insight into Jim's character and frustrations was perfect, and I really enjoyed the "Beach Games" twist in having Karen encourage him to talk to Pam. Maybe the ILY's have been said, but Jim, being a guy, may not realize that Pam still needs reassurance from him that she is the only one for him. We women can get entirely irrational thinking of our guys doing it with their exes, and that's where Pam's at now. I'm not worried about Halpert, he'll figure it out. And more sexing? Always a good thing!

I just had to re-read this chapter, because I couldn't get it out of my head. Such fine details--the thoughts that Pam was helpless to keep out of her head, all the while acknowledging Jim's thoughtfulness and love for her--just so GREAT. I could ramble on and on.

Oh, gosh, the end of the first chapter was like a rush of cold water. Such happiness throughout and then... bam. But I think you did a great job exploring the emotions Pam would be feeling after finding those - irrational, knowing it was from a past they've supposedly left behind them, but unable to let it go completely. That's a harsh reminder.

First, let me say how much I am enjoying this story. You artfully lulled us into a false sense of security with the beautiful and sensual first chapter only to rip the rug out from under us with the fugly lime green panties at the end! I love it!
This chapter was angsty, but necessary. Jim and Pam definitely need to have THAT conversation. You set up the scene perfectly!
Regarding Karen and her undies, I just love that you included this paragraph because something about Phyllis helping Karen pick out that fugly ensemble always bugged me. I always felt like Phyllis was rooting for Jim and Pam and that scene felt like a betrayal:
"Phyllis had been the one person who always seemed to know there was something beneath the surface between Pam and Jim, and Pam felt betrayed that Phyllis was now encouraging Karen. Encouraging her to be sexy for Jim. Pam’s Jim."
I can't wait for the next chapter. I hope you will update soon!

Oh, I so get Pam right here. This was brilliantly done because she's not mad at him per say and yet, how could she not be?! Jim's not blameless in what happened between them either. Just fabulous as per usual! I can't wait to see Jim's side and of course the make up sex ;)
