Is it wrong that I'm focusing on "heavy and thick"? I don't care, I just don't wanna be right, then. Seriously, sometimes it's only a word or two that can change the feeling in a story for me and "mooring" did that. Great image.
Really nice job, Catie, and absolutely Pam feels grateful. I think they both do, but she knows about indifference and you expressed that in a really lovely way.

Well, I guess in the vein of disclosure I should be honest and tell you that I just lied to you, but nonetheless, getting a review from you, an author I seriously admire for humor (seriously, you almost killed me yesterday) as well as heart and style and imagery, is just plain awesome. rnrnRE: the use of the word "mooring"...One of my favorite books of all time is Wuthering Heights, and ever since the first time I read it, the moors and Heathcliff and Catherine and their ridiculous love have always kind of stood out to me. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think Pam and Jim's story is going to go down like Heathcliff and Catherine's did, but the imagery apparently stuck with me and decided to make an appearance here. rnrnSo, in conclusion, thanks so much for taking the time to review! Ooh, I was hoping you'd write some post-CM fic!! This is the line that takes this from just pretty words to unlocking what it is about Pam & Jim that is so magical: Now she knows what she’s become, finally, because she sees it in his eyes, and she’s so grateful. Wow. Just... wow.
Author's Response: Lisahoo!! You're the best, seriously! Sometimes, when your life changes so much so quickly, it's easy to lose yourself in it. I always kind of think that FNB anchors herself in Jim--in the fact that he loves her now, but also in the fact that he loves her before, and while she's finally allowing herself to come into her own more than she ever has before, the core of her, that part of her that Jim recognized when no one else did, is still at her center. Um, nice run on sentence there, I know, but I hope that made sense. Thanks so much for your review! You're great!
