I like this version of the proposal a lot. It feels like a cousin of the ultimate canon version - it's not some big, romantic gesture just so much as Jim being overwhelmed by how much he loves her and wanting to express it in that moment. And it is in fact super dorky for this proudly dorky couple.

What a great story! I met my husband at McDonalds. He was my manager and I was a lowly cashier. He didn't propose to me there, but I do have fond memories of the Golden Arches.
I loved this part:
He glances back at the restaurant and smiles and thinks about how in the end, the whole "grand gesture" doesn't even matter just as long as it's the answer his heart has wanted for so long.
Lovely. Oh, and I was also drawn to your story because it has almost the same title as a story I wrote (Let's Begin the Rest of our Lives Starting Now). Totally different stories, though. But I think the sentiment is the same. These two need to get going with a wedding!
Thanks for the fun read!
Author's Response: Heee, thank you so much Beeswax. This review really made me smile during a couple of days when I was incredibly sick. I'm so glad you liked it and thank you again for your kind words and how awesome is it that you met your husband at McDonald's?! I tell you, that place is so great. :D

I loved learning the inspiration for this story, oobadnama. Nice job. It was so sweet and in character--a pleasure to read.
Author's Response: As always, thank you for your kind words, NanReg. :)

I love how Pam's look at Jim is like his revelation. Great story with wonderful imagery. I do think something simple like this is how it would really happen.
Author's Response: Aw, thank you Crystalized. I'm so glad you liked it. :D

Very sweet. :D And hey, I'm all for spontaneous proposals in odd locations. I proposed to Mrs. Mose in the parking lot at Wal-Mart, near the Jamba Juice. (okay, so it was sorta planned, but not really.) Anyway, seven years later, I think we might give your sister and her husband a run for their money in the dork department. :D
Anyway, this little moment between Jim and Pam really is quite sweet, and quintessentially them, y'know? I think your dialogue sounds accurate, and it's moments like these where we see them acting like we know they should, when we remember why we write in the first place.
Nicely done.
Author's Response: I find that Wal-Mart/Jamba Juice proposal very sweet and endearing. Who needs fireworks, right? Anyway, I was incredibly sick when I read this review and it put a giant smile on my face because I am such a fan of your work that your kind words really meant a lot to me. So thank you dear Mose. :)

Aw, so sweet. Love the the potty convo with the little girl at the Playplace. Too funny. And in a 'great minds coincidence' - I just wrote a scene last night that involves a spontaneous proposal and one in a boat - totally different than yours (not even Pam/Jim), but still...what were the odds, lol? Anyway - thanks for this. It was a lovely thing to wake up to.
Author's Response: Hehe, thank you Colette. You know, I totally loved your proposal fic more than mine, but I'm glad you seemed to enjoy mine. :)

This was very Jim and Pam, and BEYOND adorable. It was very real and I loved it. =]
Author's Response: Heee, thank you JamFan! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
