HOORAY, Christmas fic!
I got the email notification that you'd uploaded a new story when I was at work this afternoon, and I spent all day bouncing around waiting to read it. Because seriously, you + Christmas fic + S2 = so much love.
I love this, I really do. Your Jim voice is always right on. I think one of your biggest strengths is your ability to write Jim/Pam dialogue that sounds exactly like it should.
This breaks my heart, and makes me so happy, and it's hot, and it's beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Author's Response: If you're not reading it at work, does that mean I should refrain from writing it at work? ::looks around cubicle guiltily:: Thanks for your kind words, Corking. I'm glad you like my Jim. He's normally a little more difficult to write than Pam, but, in this case, the story was much easier to tell from his pov (and, believe me, I tried it from Pam's). Have a happy, happy holiday.

Yes. This. Absolutely. With everything between them just so...like palpable. I don't know, it really, really reminded me of the way Casino Night played out, too. Like I could totally see how that could have happened to them once or twice before and if it did then it definitely would have looked like this story.
Author's Response: Hi cosby - Thanks so much for your review. I think there are little pieces of many, many different parts of the fanon/canon in this story, Canary and Casino Night chief among them. Like in Canary, I was trying to play with the way that the tension could break without actually breaking; how something both physically and emotionally charged could happen between them without it really changing the overall arc of the story. Given Pam's nigh breathtaking powers of denial at this point in their story, I think this might work. Maybe. All depends what one believes about the characters, I suppose. Thanks again.

Oh, ouch. Season 2 always had this same effect- so adorably sweet with a bitter bite. It hurts but this was great- it was a nice change from all the Christmas fluff that's been around. And also, I always get immensely excited when you have anything new =)
Author's Response: Thank you, flonk. I started out with the intention of writing a terribly fluffy Christmas story, but, somehow, I ended up with this. I hope to have yet another new one sometime soon-ish - not fluffy, but not quite this dark, either.

Oh, talkative. I haven't been reading much fanfic lately because it's all a little too fluffy and happy for my angsty taste. But this ... this totally did the trick. I absolutely loved it. Heartbreaking and sexy and very them. God, I miss the S2 vibe so much! Thanks for giving me a fix.
Author's Response: Glad I could drag you back into the fold, wend. S2 is a lovely place to visit, esp. right now, as I'm not quite sure what to do with happy, residing-on-their-own-planet Pam and Jim. I'm content to leave those two to their own devices, but I just can't seem to leave their earlier incarnations alone. The tension is just too much fun to work with.
