I think it is so interesting you decided to write this story with the background of the 50s and 60s.  I like that Pam might have an awakening paralleling the women's movement.  Of course, all the heat with Jim didn't exactly hurt the story. ;)  Can't wait to read more!

I had loved Professor Halpert, so I'm very glad you've decided to expand it. I read a book like The Feminine Mystique once - it was called The Women's Room, and dealt with many of the same themes. It really taught me a lot about how life was for women in the 50s, 60s and even 70s.

Author's Response: Thanks, Luna Mystik. Stay tuned!

I love how they both read the groundbreaking book of the time that changed women's lives. It will be interesting to see if  Pam becomes part of the women's lib movement and burns her bra.  Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Well, I don't think Pam is quite progressive enough to burn her bra--which didn't really happen that often in the 60s, despite media coverage. But...I think she might get gutsy enough to change her situation. Thanks for reviewing, kaystar!

I'm glad you've brought this back and are continuing it!

Author's Response: Thank you!

I'm excited that you're continuing this (and really excited that you didn't get rid of the old version...because even if it was teacher/student...it was really hot!).

I like the way you've built up their lives here. Particularly like the way that you show glimpses of how Pam is unfulfilled with her life--fleeting, short thoughts that don't enormously disrupt her life but are always just below the surface.

Looking forward to seeing how you throw them together again!

Author's Response:

Professor Halpert is staying put.

Thanks for your comments, yippee. The next chapter will be up within a couple of days!

Jim comes off a lot better in this version - he's living his own life, and though he thinks of Pam, he knows that it was a moment and - like you said - fleeting.

I also like how Roy is a good guy - he's just not englightened.  Loving, supporting of the family, committed, etc, just not in tuned to what a woman needs.  That's great.

If you're still in the mood to edit, (though it doesn't really need it) you could think about putting in a bit more about how either Jim loves his wife (kind of like how you described Pam as "comforted by how deep her love for Roy went") or being a little more successful because of himself, not because of the job.  I feel like he loses a little bit of the dominance that you wanted to give him and that is super hot.

I can't WAIT for the next chapter.  We both know those are my favorite parts anyway ;)

Author's Response:

See...these are the kind of things you tell me via email!

Just kidding. You'll get the first shot at the next chapter, anyway!

I never would have expected Jim getting married...I'm not sure why, maybe because he would have had more choices at that time.

I love how they both read the book and think of each other.

Author's Response:

Yup, I have to give credit to TV_Buffy, who mentioned Betty Friedan in her review of Professor Halpert. It sent me off in the Feminine Mystique direction.

Thanks for reviewing, Lissa!

Oooh, I like this.  The original was just a little too squicky (with the professor/student relationship) for me, but I love the slightly more noble approach here.

Author's Response:

Yes; I ended up being a little uncomfortable with it too. I mean, I think we'd all like to see Jim be a little aggressive (Who are we kidding, here?), but as you say, it ended up with some squick. Mea culpa, but we move on.

Instead of pulling that story, though, which can stand on its own, I decided to change it up and turn it into a longer story spanning a long period of time.

Thanks for the feedback, Lissa, and I hope you like the rest of the story.
